F1 Manager - 2005 Season - End of the Season!

F1 Manager

This series (originally established by Chris 2k6) gives 11 lucky players the chance to guide a Formula One team to success, whether it be Ferrari or Minardi. The game started in the 2003 season and has already developed greatly thanks to the choices each manager has made. Also real life events will come in to play, such as Red Bull wanting to take over Jaguar etc but, that doesn’t guarantee you success. Managers will also have to negotiate contracts with drivers and engine suppliers along with making many other decisions along the way.

Reserve Managers:

Because this series can only have 11 managers at one time we have now opened up a GP2 manager series that will run alongside this one, in order to accommodate the managers who are on the waiting list for this series, whilst they wait for a vacancy to arise. Once you sign up for the GP2 series you will automatically be added to the waiting list for the F1 series below:

When a team becomes available the first manage on the list will be offered the job, if he rejects the offer the next person on the list will be offered the job. If more than one team is available the first person on the list can choose which team to sign for. When a manager inherits a team they must aware that they will also inherit any drivers or team takeovers (such as Red Bulls takeover at Jaguar) as well as the team’s current budget.

Current Standings




Teams can attend any of the mid season test sessions at a cost of £250k per test coming from last year’s budget. Feedback from these sessions will vary and managers can choose to focus on either reliability or pace.

Race Weekend

Race weekends will start with a friday practice. Here both of your drivers tack to the track and to act as getting a good set-up, your drivers will reward your team and themselves with a small increase for quali and the race. The way this will work is by working out the time difference between your two drivers with the first three teams recieving a 5 bhp boost, and 30 driver performance boost whilst 4th to 6th will recieve a 3 bhp boost, and a 15 driver performance boost. Free Practice and qualifying will be a one hour session whilst the race will be 100% race distance.

Setup Reward

A setup bonus is available every race weekend during Friday free practice. The closer you're two drivers times are the better the reward. The top 3 teams get a 30 driver performance bonus and a 5 bhp boost. Places 4th to 6th get 15 driver performance bonus and 3 bhp boost but it is only for that race weekend. The perfs then return to default ready

GP2 Affiliation

As already mentioned this F1 series runs alongside the GP2 series that is also on this site and as a result many aspects from each series interlink.

One of these factors is that F1 teams can loan drivers who they have already signed for the next season to instead race or test for one of the GP2 teams next season. This can be extremely beneficial as it allows managers to build up the perf of a younger driver, who may not be ready for F1 just yet, without wasting one of their seats in the main team. The exact details and clauses of the loan deals are to be discussed between the F1 and GP2 manager and there are no limitations as to what they can be, but you will have to send me a copy of all the clauses included in the deal so I can keep track of things to ensure that there is no wrong doing. Money received from loan deals can be spent at anytime during the season on either contract negotiations or testing, but any left over at the end of the season will be added to your testing budget.

Of course F1 managers are free to bid on any of the drivers who are currently racing in the GP2 series, however when bidding on a GP2 driver you must send your offer to Reve-san, not to me as I will only be dealing with current F1 driver negotiations.

In addition to F1 teams being able to loan their test drivers to GP2 teams we have decided to take this idea one step further. So F1 teams can now choose to sponsor one of the GP2 teams by paying a lump sum or a race by race fee (coming out of the F1 teams main budget) to the GP2 team in question, which they can then use to develop their team. In return the two teams are treated as one in that they can interchange drivers between the two teams as they wish and free of charge. It is also possible to rename the GP2 team to show the relationship between the two teams.

2005 Team Testing Budgets
Your teams testing budget is the remainder of your previous years budget after having bought all of you drivers, engine and brakes. This can be spent on mid season test sessions that occur during the season. Just as in pre-season testing you can choose to focus on improve pace of reliability.



2006 Team Budgets
These are your budgets that you have to spend on your team for the next season.



Engine/Brake Manufacturers
Each team must sign an engine supplier. Ferrari, Renault and Toyota will all have to stick with their engines however Independants are free to choose their engines. Not all engine manufacturers will be available straight away, for example Mercedes and BMW will be first choice to McLaren and Williams. Each engine has a reliabilty and a bhp setting. Each team must also have a brake supplier. These will have an effect on your teams performance as you recieve random upgrades through the season.



Drivers Market

Drivers will be ready at random times throughout the season for contract negotiations whereas everything else (engines, brakes, etc) can be signed at anytime. Drivers have a set minimum contract offer so anything offered below this figure will be rejected. The driver will accept the highest offer unless his current team are within £500k of the highest bid for the driver in which case the driver will stay with his current team.

Drivers can bring experience to your team, while youngsters are up and coming stars however, race them too early and they may struggle. Same goes for drivers who are pushing on retirement so keep this in mind. Each team must have at least three drivers (2 race drivers, 1 test/third driver) When making an offer, send a pm to me (Twigster151) with your offer and for which driver. Keep in mind other teams may be bidding for this driver, however they may not be. A driver will have a set time to receive offers (usually a week, 2 races etc) After that they will decide who they will race for next season. If they have no offer then they will remain available for contract talks.

Tyres

Tyres will not cost you but you must choose a tyre supplier. Changing tyres could cause your team to struggle on the new tyres, but its nothing a bit of testing won't sort out.

Extra Cash

Don't worry if you have extra cash. This can be used for next seasons mid-season testing. Testing will cost a team £250k to take part in and could help improve your car by finding that all important break through. Pre Season testing will not cost your team however. Or you could sign a new driver.

Okay the OP is now finished and ready to go so that means pre-season testing will be starting soonish as I still need to update the perfs and add the new cars and helmets. So if there are any errors in the team lineups can you inform me asap although this won't apply to the vast majority of you seeing as you already have. However what does apply to all of you is that it is now time to make your decisions about pre-season testing, so can all managers pm me the two tests they want to attend as well as what their focus will be at each, bare in mind that in order to try and avoid the run away races we saw last season the way I calculate the team perfs have been drastically altered A final deadline for these decisions will be announced as soon as the mod is ready to go however, be aware that failure to submit your testing schedule to me will mean your team will not take part in pre-season testing.

We are pleased to have the #1 car with the signing of world champion Rubens Barrichello. We hope to have a successful season with our two experienced drivers.

Reliability is one of the factors that has changed drastically in how the perfs are calculated, but I can't really go into much detail in how it is calculated with giving the game away

Firstly, thanks Mal for stickying the thread

Secondly the mod is pretty much ready to go now with just one or two car and helmet errors to correct, so, that means we're ready to get the season underway. Unfortunately I am yet to receive testing schedules from both Renault and Sauber and as they have had plenty of time to do so the final deadline for the testing schedules will be Monday 24th at 12:00pm. Also just a word of warning to both teams the sessions will be run in advance, not on Monday, and posted in quick succession so I can use next week to get at least the first race done and dusted. So if you miss the deadline, the likelihood is that you'll miss pre-season testing and you'll also probably be in for a tough year

Renault will be at Barcelona and Jerez for pre season testing.

Sauber will attend Barcelona and Silverstone tests. Pace will be the focus at Barcelona and Reliability at Silverstone

Vettel Fastest in Barcelona

Sebastian Vettel made a fantastic first impression on the F1 circus today after he was the fastest driver in the first of the 2005 pre-season F1 test sessions. The young German was able to lap his new McLaren around the Catalunya circuit six tenths quicker than new team mate Juan Pablo Montoya. Overall the teams were able to gain lots of very useful data due to the near perfect track conditions.
