Hello and welcome here at Phillip Island to the qualifying for the 9th round of the GPG Nations Cup. The weather report predicts a sunny session today, and by taking a short look to the sky I can say it's correct. I've just seen that the pit light is already green, so lets go straight to the track.

Nikola Nikolov is the first to set a time

Maikel de Boer, the man with the most poles this season, is faster, but 0.8s away from the current pole time

Marko Jantsher crosses the line with over 1s gap

Ben Johnson goes fastest!

And Hunsley gets in 9th

First runs done, lets take a look at the standings

Paulo Silva improves to 12th place, but the gap is almost 1 second

Current championship leader Markus Aspenstrom is not able to improve his time

Other than Ken Byrne who is now in 10th place

Local hero Nathan McGregor keeps his good form of the last race, and gets 4th place

Tobias Kederer, who seems to struggle a bit today, improves to 15th

Ben Johnson not able to beat his own time in his second run

John Maverick now in 7th, but over a half second behind Johnson

Maikel de Boer with a big improvement, 3rd place for him

Jean Girard climbes a couple of places, and is now in 9th

With the second runs completed, here are the standings

Kazuki Kamikaze is 6th at the moment

Mihai Marinescu can improve to 15th place

Pretty bad lap by Paolo Tafuro, he stays in 10th place

Mirko Vukcevic gets close to the pole time, but no improvement for him

Ken Byrne improves his laptime, but he stays in 13th place

And we have a new polesetter: Dave Brilley goes almost 0.2s quicker than Johnson!

Jack Hunsley is 1s back, now in 15th place

Thrid runs done, here are the standings

Chris Copeman is 0.4s slower than Brilley

Paulo Silva with an improvement now in 7th place

But not for long as Gianluigi Silvestre beats his time by 0.1s

Rodrigo Vilela seems off pace today, 1.7 seconds slower than Brilley

McGregor crosses the line right behind him and gets in 3rd place now

Maverick improves his time a bit

The fourth runs are done, lets take a look at the current standings

Copeman with a new best time in first sector

He has lost a bit, but is still faster than Brilley

And he gets pole thanks to a superb 3rd sector!

Marinescu over 1s slower

Jantsher also not able to improve

Nikolov now in 9th

and Girard in 12th

But Tafuro is faster and snatches the place from the Frenchman

Vukcevic improves his time, but not his position

Vilela does a big step and is 11th now

McGregor steals 3rd from Johnson

No good day for the championship leader, he stays dead last

No improvement neither for Antunis

nor for Kederer

But for Maverick, he gets in 7th

Edvardsen is the last to cross the line, but he stays 15th

Here are the official qualifying results. Congratulation to the pole setter Chris Copeman! Brilley joins him in the front row, and local hero McGregor in third. Bad session for Austria and Sweden, the two top placed in the championship. They will start on the last row.

Very bad qualifying, I wasn't able to find a good setup. I expect nothing for the race.

Welll... 6th is ok, atleast from here we are able to get something good hopefully in the race. But we did hope for a bit better really...

7th is okay. I struggled a bit with the tyres in the middle of the qualifying but at least I could improve one more time to where I was mostly all the time in the qualifying...that is 7th. It's unlikely that we'll fight for a podium here, but at least points are possible. That is after all the goal for the remaining races, as my fight to defend the championship is over.

As useless as a chocolate teapot...it's as if we didn't use a boost.

Every time i don't use any boost i qualify better. Any reason for this strange behavior?

Maybe i should not use any boost for the rest of the championship... ;) It seems to work very well.

-----------------------------------------------------

As has already been said the variance is pretty high this season. Maybe it's worth a thought to reduce that a bit again next season.

It seems to me that a boost has a bigger effect in race than in qualifying.

@all: race has been run and won, it was much fun to watch, will be up soon.

Phillip Island - The race - Live broadcast (part 1)

Welcome back everyone at Phillip Island where the race is about to start. Yesterdays qualifying saw Chris Copeman taking pole position in front of Dave Brilley and Nathan McGregor. Weather hasn't changed, it's still sunny out there. The cars are lining up the grid now, so lets go straight to the track.

And it's go go go! Copeman had a good start and can keep first place!

McGregor already in second!

And Brilley really had a bad start, he's in fourth after Johnson has passed him, too.

Vukcevic also with a good start, he has passed de Boer and is in fifth now.

Silvestre is another winner of the start, he has won a position

But Maverick is still besides him and wants to get back in 7th

And he brakes later and is now even side by side with de Boer!

Great move by Maverick! He passed two cars and is in 6th now!

Tafuro currently in 11th, and he has the inner line and wants to get past Nikolov!

Kederer has lost one place, and has to defend against Aspenstrom

McGregor at the inside of Copeman, will he get the lead?

Yes! Great move by McGregor! He leads his home GP!

Vukcevic has passed Brilley and is behind Johnson in 4th

Jantsher also has improved some places, he's currently running in 18th

right in front of Hunsley

No improvement for Aspenstrom, he's still last

Kamikaze side by side with Vilela

And he gets past!

Girard tries to take this chance to pass Vilela, too

Hunsley now back in 18th, right behind Byrne

Kederer back in 20th, from where he started

Onboard with the leader

And unsurprisingly he sets the fastest lap

Here are the standings after lap 1

Johnson has to defend against Vukcevic

But he can't keep his place, Vukcevic gets through

Antunis already has gained 5 places, now gets out of the slipstream of Silva

11th place for the Brazilian now

After a bad start, Brilley now in 4th, side by side with Vukcevic

And he overtakes him!

Edvardsen is the next who wants to get past Vilela

And he makes it!

Missed by the camera, de Boer has lost some positions, and is in 10th now behind Tafuro

And he passes him!

Hunsley brakes late

Uh-oh! Marinescu has left the track!

He rejoins in last

Time for some standings again

McGregor still leads in front of Copeman

Girard tries to pass Byrne for 16th

Onboard with Silvestre and someone has spun in front of him!

It's Johnson!

And Silvestre runs into him!

Big mixup now!

Silvestre still stuck behind him while the others pass on the inside!

Johnson now trying to get back in the right direction

Kamikaze breaks hard to avoid a collision

Finally both can continue, but they lost many places. Johnson now in 11th, Silvestre in 13th and under pressure from Girard, Byrne and Kederer

Antunis runs wide!

And Maverick is out! Has there been a collision?

Yes! Antunis tried to overtake Maverick, but they touched!

Copeman meanwhile tries to close the gap to McGregor

Tafuro tries to get 9th from Silva

And he makes the move

The midfield is very close

Kederer in 15th now right behind Kamikaze

Aspenstrom is off!

And he's out! A Loose Wheel ends his race

The top 8

Silvestre goes out of the slipstream of Johnson

Side by side down the start-finish-straight

But Johnson keeps his position

Kamikaze close to Girard

Side by side into turn 4

But Girard has the better traction out of the corner and stays in 14th

10 laps done, here are the current standings

Byrne and Kamikaze both off the track!

And the replay shows that Kamikaze lost his heck while they were side by side. Both can continue

Tafuro runs wide in turn 9!

He gets back on the track right in front of Silvestre!

Here's a replay

Antunis fights back through the field after his collision with Maverick

He overtakes Jantsher and is now in 16th

With the first pitstops to come soon, it's time for a little brake. The rest of the coverage will follow this evening as I have to go now. Stay tuned!

Terrible, as usual! =/

One Racing driver and team manager
GPGSL-3: champion in 2007/2013/2014!
GPGSL-4: testdrivers champion in Season 11!
And another spoiled race because of an accident. I give up for this season...there's nothing I can do anymore to rescue this season. It seems that all the luck I had last season returns in bad luck now.

Quali ruined with a spin lets hope race pace can turn this around and grab points.
second part done, just filling up this page ;)
