..:: REVIEW GP4CC SEASON IV - SEASON START AT QUATTRO RACEWAY ::..

Good morning from Zuffenhausen,

the Porsche F1 Team already arrived back in the factory at Zuffenhausen, after competing at Quattro last night for the opening of the GP4CC Season.

The photo above tells the whole story already - we had lots of trouble on the brakes!
The Quattro Raceway, on which none of our drivers set a lap before, is a lot more difficult as it seemed to be when we took some slow laps to get used to the layout.

Both drivers tried several setups regarding the front and rear wing, but none of them found a satisfying setup to stabilize the balance of the car.

At the end of the testing day our #1 driver, Lutz Mueller, set the fastest lap in 41.517s. He set thios time quite early in the session and had another about 50 laps trying to find a 1/10s...but without success. With every lap more in the car the concentration went...

Our #2 driver, Andre Harke, had more problems to find a way through the corners at Quattro. Studying the laps of Lutz on the screen in the pits, he managed to get close to Lutz' time as was quite satisfied when he got out of the car at the end of the day. A time of 41.568s meant only a gap of 0.051s to his teammate.

Having a beer in the paddock afterwards the drivers decided to focus on the grip for the upcoming race at Monaco...

So TomMK, all the budget on grip, please!

See you at Monte Carlo...

More impressions from Quattro:

"Team Centra owner TomMK is keen to repeat the mistakes of Fiorano by focusing his budget on engine development again, even before Monaco; the most grip-dependent circuit on the calendar:"

I think the engines sound louder when they have more power. I like louder (Y)

"Although many Team Centra personnel questioned the decision, TomMK responded by saying:"

Shut up.

$1200
$240 +120 grip
$960 +32 power

This monaco 67 track doesnt look too demanding on grip.

So what you want for the car?

Jorge commented:

A balance between power and grip.

How about 300 grip and 20 bhp? That adds up to $1200

Jorge commented:

That sounds exactly right:-) :-) .

I need to have another go but I can't push without getting the wheels off, and the site's system doesn't forgive me one inch on the grass. We need that thing during actual F1 races.

If I can I'll get Dxtory reinstalled and record some of my antics so at least you can laugh while I rage. Expect some latin american swearing ;-)

When asked for his thoughts on the direction Team Centra's car development is taking, AUS_Doug had this to say:

Quote
AUS_Doug
For sure is not ideal now, but Hockenheim is soon.

This reporter then pressed further about the direction the Australian would like the development to take:

Quote
AUS_Doug
Forward. Forward would be good.

Hoping for a more detailed answer, this reporter then asked AUS_Doug how he was liking the circuit for this first round.
At this, the Australian turned and left without another word, stopping long enough to yell at a very vocal songbird.

I later was able to ask a team insider about this outburst and was given this answer on the condition of anonymity:

Quote
Anonymous source that totally isn't the team physiotherapist
The only way we could get him on the plane was for (Centra owner) TomMK to promise that he'd get to drive an Audi Quattro.
Of course, once we got here, he realised that wasn't going happen, and he's been on the edge of a tantrum ever since.

Steer hits the track for his first runs after severe technical issues

Steer was finally seen out on track in his borrowed Porsche machine after sounds of loud swearing for the week finally came to a halt. The commotion, rumoured to be caused by technical issues involving having to delete the entirety of GP4, left Steer with not many days remaining and as such saw him run with his default setup. We caught up with him just after his run moved him to 7th in the leaderboard:

Quote
So how did it feel out there after your first runs?
This Quattro place is a pretty nifty track isn't it? Very quick so its a lot of fun to throw the car around. I haven't had much time out on track so it was very much a case of getting in some quick recon and then fitting as many laps in as possible. So far I'm not last, which is impressive for me, and there's still one day left where I'll play with the setup a bit more so who knows where I'll end up.

Quote
Your saying there's a chance you might get points?
I mean I don't want to make any bold predictions, as lets be honest a stray dog escaping on to the circuit might knock me out the top 10. But there's plenty of potential I see in the lap and the car so I don't see why I couldn't get even further up the order.

Quote
And what of the fact you've beaten one of the Porsche constructor drivers by just 0.001s?
Oh S#&t! If they come looking for me, you haven't seen me ok?

Steer then scampered off, possibly all the way to Monaco.

Hard Time For Mistral Debut At Quattro

After some technical issues in test days that interfered with the development program the team arrived at Quattro track in Middle Earth.
With the development program being hampered both drivers were complaining about the poor behaviour of the car :

Quote
Carlos Rodriguez
I can't push without getting the wheels off, and the car doesn't forgive me one inch on the grass.

Quote
Eric Moinet
The car is very tricky and nervous, it's hard to make a clean lap in that conditions.

The engineers were struggling the whole sessions to draw a good setup and get the best out of the car, but with no avail :
Quote
Team Principal
It has been a hard time for the team and I think we can sign this one off, but we won't resign because of that.
It will be a tough job but we'll work hard and eventually get close to our opponents.

For next round at Monaco we will focus on grip and spend all our allocated budget on it.

On another note :

In the logitech profiler in global settings tick
REPORT COMBINE PEDAL
and dont tilt Allow game to adjust settings.

EricMoinet
Never tested that, it's worth a try.
Thanks Jorge, I will report later. (Y)

So, after several tries, now the report : using those tips it seems that the handling is easier than before but I still don't get feedback from the wheels. My assumption is that the steering wheel is worn out or has something broken inside. I will try to fix it later as I don't have enough free time at the moment.

Thanks a lot Jorge it was a useful help anyway.

I am not in perfect condition to set hotlaps today, but I will try something later, the goal is to get a top 5 result

damn you guys are tough.
I never driven this track before and I already have very poor relationships with one corner.. that turn 3 ****.. run wide every time.
That hotlap I ran wide too, I thought I was 4 wheels off, rather suprised it was accepted plus I was also suprised of my nice catch there too

so I couldn't believe that I got that many hotlaps under my belt.
All the laps were very tense as I am ill, and as I said not at all in perfect condition to get a lap in. To get a lap in after all is a success!
This is as much focus as I could get, and I am satisfied with what is P4 so far, probs will get P5 later when jcaranti gets his lap in.
Over and out from the Dragon Racing factory and onto Monaco we go!

Inside the game go to Options - Controls - Advance - Force Feedback/Driving Aids
and put SCALLING to 100%. (Y)

and exactly what I expected did happen, jcaranti topped the test

still, as I said the goal was a top 5, as I was ill, and I had barely practised. But still, damn you guys are very quick, wp!

I could still be a douche and steal the setup with 1hr30mins to go and do a faster lap ;) but nah
