Hey Vimal,

for me the greatest advantage in using manual gears appears while breaking the car.
You can use the braking force of the motor//gearbox and the brakes of the car together and so brake a bit later...

Another great thing is that you can keep the revs lower in corners by shifting up which means you can accelerate earlier...

It takes a bit of training but in the end it makes you faster!

Hi all,
I have an issue with my steering wheel so I'm switching to keyboard. Really sorry for that, not what I wanted.
New time sent, a bit better... hmm, still last :(

Jorge,

tried your setup last night and improved my own laptime by 0.5s (Y)

But the car sems very nervous to me...respect for driving so fast!!!!
Maybe I could find another half second in my lap but even then another 1.2s would miss to beat your lap!!

Well, 2nd best Wheel-Driver so far in Fiorano and wondering how the keyboard guys can go so faaaaast!!! Respect boys!

See you on Quattro

Hi Lutz,
Well that setup was intended as base.

These are my first laps at Fiorano, i never driven the track in any other game either.
Whats clear to me that it is a high wing track and requires a lot of traction.

Medium wings and low wings you loose to much grip in all the curbs and on top of that it doesnt have
any medium to long straight so with more reason its a high wing track.

Quattro will be another new track for me, the same as the mayority of the season except hockenheim 1991
but i havent driven that track in a competition league since 2006.

Cya at Quattro. (Y)

Well, I'm afraid the steering wheel is being too old now, like the driver using it ;)
Basically I have a huge dead zone in the center and a lack of feedback from the car.

It's a G25 and I think I'll need to change it. A good hint is that I'm faster with almost the same setup at first try on keyboard :-o

Over here i drive with a Logitech G27, the center is kind of strange too but you get used to it. What i did is add more strengh to the forcefeedback.
I compare it to my previous wheel witch was a Logitech Momo.
The Logitech Momo is a good wheel and the feedback its great but the pedals have a problem with the POTS, many people complained about it.

Just check if your using the same axis for the breaks and accelator. Thats how i have my wheel setup for Gp4. Its different than other games !!!.

@jcaranti : yeah I agree about the strange behaviour of the Logitech wheels. I will try to strenghten the FFB and/or lessen the other values.
I have two axis for the pedals, from memory Y and IRZ. Not sure of what you're saying about both pedals on same axis ?

Never tested that, it's worth a try.
Thanks Jorge, I will report later. (Y)

I think we went the wrong way on development, we didn't focus enough on aero grip for this track.

I never found a good setup and struggled mainly with traction.

But AUS_Doug's pace showed we can still be very competitive, so that's very encouraging.

...::: PORSCHE F1 TEAM - PRESS RELEASE :::...

Today the Porsche F1 Team arrived at Quattro Raceway to build up the Motorhome and the Pits...

The Testing Days at Fiorano were not very satisfying for the team, as team owner Lutz M. said afterwards:

Quote
L. Mueller

"The performance of our car was not very good at all. As Porsche we do, of course, focus on engine performance and tend to neglect the aerodynamics of our car.
Our 2nd driver A. Harke has been on his limit and even a bit beyond at Fiorano, my own performance was quite good but I'm not very satisfied att all. A lot of oversteering in sharp corners is a thing that we should get hold of as soon as possible.
At Quattro we will start with the car we started in Barcelona with, all updates that we tested at Fiorano will be taken from the car. We're already working hard on the aerodynamics as the 2nd race of the season will be at Monte Carlo where the engine power is not the most important factor of a car.
We must find a good balance between power and grip as the season has so many different tracks to be raced on - it should be quite interesting to see where the other teams set their focus on.
For our drivers we expect no wonders, as A. Harke never raced on 100% of the tracks in the calendar. He onyl knows Barcelona which is only a Pre-Season event. So we should not expect much from him, to be honest. A Top 10 position in the end would be a huge success for him. For me, as I driver F1 much longer than him, it should be realistic to finish in the Top 6 at the end. But even that won't be easy to realize - it's a long hard way... As the events only last one week on each track we won't have much chances to get used to the tracks, but every team/driver has to deal with it.
Let's see if the new livery can help us getting faster and faster ;-) "

That track is a lot more tricky than it looks like! Holy c**p in a bucket have I been spinning these days. At least I managed to submit something but way off the pace. You guys are magicians, I can't find those two seconds I'm missing.
