A few pointers:

- The tyres are the original 2001 grooved tyres because I don't have lower lods for the 2013 ones.
- There is no McLaren or Mercedes, again because there are no lower lods available. So we have the original BAR and Williams in their place for now.
- There are no mirrors in external views.

Double-click on GPxPatch.exe to play.

This is why I probably won't use the 3D tyres in the mod (which would require the user to edit their f1graphics.cfg). People just don't read anything!!

Okay, sorry guys, I did´t read it, wait for an update.

The 2013 "Laptop" Mod has a McLaren, Mercedes and tyres now. Just ironing out the last few bugs before release. It will be released on Sunday for the Italian GP.

v1.0 of the 2013 Laptop Mod by GP4 Central is released on GP4 Central.

Instructions (for those who read them):

1) Extract the .7z file using 7-Zip.

2) Run GPxPatch.exe. The first time you run the game, you will be asked to configure the graphics. Do this, then exit the game straight away.

3) Run the game a second time. Go to Options \ Graphics and set the options as follows:



Go to Advanced and set the options as follows:



4) Go racing!

Depends on the feedback. The Laptop Mod is an experiment really, I don't think it's been done before so I'm interested to know if it works for the majority of people and if there's demand for it.

The problem with CSM is that it too increases the load on GP4 (that's not CSM's fault, GP4 is fickle and doesn't always respond well to being run immediately after changes are made, which is what CSM is there to do). For that reason, a stand-alone mod that is "static" (meaning it doesn't change each time you run it) suits the goal of a low-resource mod better.

lol - Dropbox-based downloads are down again. Too much traffic.

Just a note to all users - I'm aware the service of the site isn't 100% right now, and it's because the demand has grown to the point where it's exceeding the reasonable amount that I pay my provider to cope with. I am working on ways to make it better - the BitTorrent idea seems to work but it's not the only thing I have planned.

Just to give you an idea, Dropbox permits 20GB per day of downloads before they suspend an account. And the account has been suspended within 24 hours every time is goes back online... And that's only the 2012 & 2013 Mods. Everything else is hosted right on the GP4 Central servers.

On a positive note, it does demonstrate how enduringly popular Grand Prix 4 is, which is great news. Codemasters still has a long way to go before they can rival our great sim in my opinion.

And finally can I thank the kind soul who left a positive comment using BitTorrent ratings about the Laptop Mod. Made me smile

Great work on the laptop mod. I'm used to using TSM to do the track replacements, but have another mod running. Can I use TSM with both mods, or would that confuse?
I also have the arcade overlays showing up, even though they are disabled in the graphics menu.

I'm not 100% sure but I think if you use TSM without using CSM, it only works on 1 instance of GP4. I would recommend using GPxTrack instead (which the Laptop Mod uses by default). Just put the .dat and .wad files in a folder and point GPxTrack to them using the GPxTrack tab.

You have probably modified your f1graphics.cfg so that the first line is "1", right? If so find the following line in f1graphics.cfg and set it to 0:

0			; TV style overlays on track cameras.

That's what I found.
I just ended up installing the ZAZ Tools twice; one installation points to 'normal' GP4 and the other points to the Laptop Mod version.
