I don't think you can convert tracks, the formats are too different.

That is correct, rFactor uses mas files, GP4 uses wad. It is do-able but very difficult.

It's possible, but you need some tools to export .gmt files from the MAS as .3DS files. Then open those .3DS files with milkshape, save them like .3DS, then import them in .GP4 with Lo2k's GP4 Builder.
After you have imported all files, you need to create the dat by the whole track you have imported, that's the most hard part of the work....

I don't know if jimbob1's TOCA RD2 convert guide is still avaible online. I don't have it anymore...

Try if links work: [gp4italia.drivingitalia.net] or [gp4italia.drivingitalia.net]

Hi there, thank you for your time, but I think you misread my question. I want to convert GP4 tracks to rFactor, not the other way around. :)

my fault.

In this case, open GP4 Builder (check out the last one), open the GP4 file, select the first scene (or each single object), file/export/export to .3DS, then work on those .3DS with 3DS max (or something else), import them into 3DSimEd, save as .gmt.
Then i could help anymore. Check out if you find some guide about track modelling for rFactor.

basic phase was this....

export the opened track in gp4 builder as .wrl file.....

open this .wrl file in deep exploration tool.....

export as .3ds.....

open the .3ds file then in 3dsimed.

then export as .gmt file...ie.....native rfactor format...
the rest is up to you to search on rfactor forums then.....it involves renaming files...converting tga's to .dds etc.....

Hey guys, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I had Jimbob1's tutorial of how to convert Toca Race Driver 2 tracks to GP4, but since then I've deleted my all GP4 files like million times already and now I can't find it anywhere here. Could anyone upload that one for me? I just think that despite Jimbob1 converted some decent tracks from the TOCA RD2 like Adria, Oulton Park, Shortwood street circuit, Surfers Paradise and 1st version of Adelaide I believe, but still there are some other fine, maybe less popular tracks such as:

Barbagallo Raceway (AUS)
Brands Hatch (GBR)
Hidden Valley (AUS)
Mantorp Park (SWE)
Oran Park (AUS)
Pukekohe Park (AUS)
Sandown Raceway (AUS)
Texas Motor Speedway oval (USA)

And I think it would be great to have them all for GP4 as well (I mean I know Oran Park exists but the graphical part can be improved massively). Cheers
