Welcome to Oran Park Circuit for Grand Prix 4

Oran Park raceway, has recently closed due to housing expanding into the area. I believe that it lives on in this simulated version of the track.
I hope it will be part of a complete V8 Mod, historical and another option for Australian circuit Mod.

Thank you very much for making this track. I have missed it ever since it has gone off the V8 calander and now you have brought it back to us.

I would also like to see a full V8 mod as well. I have the template for the Ford and Holden shape that is 2008 I think but it would still look good enough.
I started a thread about this some time ago, but uni commitments got in the way and I just never had the time.
Now I have more free time I might look at painting some skins.

This was the thread...

Thanks for the words of encouragement:-)

Thanks to mortal who took the time to show me how to build the background photo and assembled the original. I think I got him in from weeding in the garden. LOL
Thanks to SchueyFan or helping me think I could do this.

@Macca25 I’m just going to say all I did was take the time that I might have spent watching television for example and apply that time to building and learning. Although there was the odd 3:00 AM experience.
My to do list on the Oran.dat file is still extensive after this last in game testing.
1. Rebuild most of the kerbs
2. A new CC line. In a previous version of the track, the cars had less understeer on exit and braking earlier in two corners. That sort of thing needs to be sorted.
3. Tweak the track banking a little in several cases.
4. I think it will be quicker if I just rebuild the pitlane at the moment. It’s causing some unnecessary problems starting too early in corner 12.
5. More detail work on the verges and banking.
Then it’s all about the scenes and objects.

If anyone would like to build objects, you know how to contact me. Pit and office buildings, bridge just to name a few.

2 and 3 are completed.
Eight new CC line attempts later. The cars are finally happy. I made all the adjustments using rookie level. The lap times came down and less crashing from 4 D.N.F. plus mechanical and not including the car was driving down to 1 D.N.F. - unknown reason.

The whole process is very rewarding. Rebuilding Pit lane is next;)

Good stuff, Chrische.

Needless to say, you got the project and that’s not going to be the last time you hear that, IMHO.

Fantastic.

Just posting the Office photo so you can see why SchueyFan and I think Chrische’s work is fantastic!
Office building looking very nice, Chrische.

3. & 4. Done.
New pitlane is finished. The CC are running on the new Oran.DAT file and seemed to be very happy. I was forced to use the old wad to get this pic. Just having some troubles getting the new wad in-game. Crash log tells me there are some missing textures or something like that. My girl thinks it needs more jam.

Great to see this cool Aussie track being made! The thought of a modern day F1 tearing around Oran Park is quite bizarre! Having watched the ATCC run races there over the past 20-30 yrs, I can't quite picture an F1 race there! LOL
Can't wait to try it though! Great work by all involved!!

Great looking office building. Did you make the brown brick texture yourself? A shame that Oran Park don't exist no more. :(

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
@Turbo Lover:

I edited an existing brick texture i found in the i-net, anything wrong with it?
You guys are welcome to tell me what you think about the 3d model, if there are things i could change to make it more realistic,
would appreciate it!

cheers
Chrische

I don't quite remember the fire escape at the back of the building. It makes sense that it should be there and I have no problem with it at all. I think it was just that it wasn't as long (to the ground), at the back of the office building. The small brick buildings that you can see from Google earth are public change rooms. It's already very realistic IMO. If anyone has a photo of the back of the building, we would appreciate the help.

@shep34 Yes, I know exactly what you mean, mate. I can tell you it's quite a panic to clip around Oran Park in GP4 at 52 sec lap times;-)
I don't think the back of the building matters too much, because you would never see it in-game.
