post race, yup. Some of you have given me race perfs - that's fine. Still waiting for some though - if you could let me have these, that'd be great

BTW, there's an issue with the pit strategy thing - i didn't realise it's not possible to set individual car pitstops. (unless somebody can tell me a method to do it!). If there really isn't a method, for this race, a 2 stop strategy will be used (which is what most people who've told me so far wanted anyway)

Team Ireland im quite happy with 11th hopefully we can have a good start to race and pick up some places at the start

I now have the ireland car and helmet, so i'll be updating the wads tonight. Hoping to release a CSM tonight/tomorrow.

Again, massive apologies to team Switzerland.

Btw, i am missing a fair few helmets for a few nations. I'll compile a list later.

It's no big deal, Adam.

I was just wondering if the spots where used correctly, that's all. I didn't mind Team Ireland using our car as well, we're glad to help wherever we can :-)

thanks for letting Ireland lend your car :)

mod update - sorted the swiss helmet issue (me being a nonce forgot to unzip the helmet folder, so when i went through putting helmets in, i missed it), Ireland car is in-game (customs let it go after a thorough inspection!). All i need to do is sort out a few tweaker positions, and also sort out the fact half the textures are HUGE, and then i will release a beta version. it will be lod0 only - i don't have lower lods for some of the shapes, but that's something i can work on later

I'll try to find some time to make a little picture tutorial tomorrow in how to make the .tex files smaller.

it's ok mate, i figured out how to do it now - just have to go back through 15 or so cars an redo the texes,,, a tutorial mite be good for other users though if you do find the time - i found slimtex quite difficult at first

Hi guys and girls!

I will be taking over Team Greece from this point on, and I hope to get know you over the course of this championship, and achieve more finishes than DNFs!

GPGNC Round 1 – Race
Welcome to Sunny Surfer’s Paradise, for round 1 of the Nations Cup
The grid is lined, up, ready for the start, with Kota Razak on his shock pole position, with Ukyo Yoshimoto alongside. Behind them, the Madagascan driver, Zakes and the Brazilian Antunis are also hoping for a sniff of victory

And the Lights go out! It’s a terrible start for Yoshimoto from 2nd, as Zakes gets a brilliant start from 3rd

And Zakes is on the inside of Razak into turn 1 – he takes the lead! Further back, Yoshimoto fends off a fast starting Jantsher

Jantsher has to then fend of f Antunis, as Stein attacks De Boer

Hunsley jumps Burazel

The field are all through the first turns cleanly, as Burazel snatches 14th place back from Hunsley

Oakley goes past Stein, as De Boer attacks Jantscher

The leading trio already breaking away from 4th placed Antunis

The top 6 after lap 1

7th to 12th after lap 1

And the rest of the field

Into Turn 1, Xanthis clips Vukcevic, spinning the Montenegro car

Ward makes up a place

On lap 2, the British car’s engine expires. Terrible luck for Oakley, who was hoping for a strong race performance

Oakley’s retirement causes chaos into the fast chicane, as hunsley and Paddock go heavily over the curbs. Copeman for USA spins

And is forced to wait as the field passes through

Paddock then bins it

Razak puts the hammer down in an attempt to catch Zakes

A replay of the 2nd lap incident

Razak sets another fastest lap

Vantsher dives up the inside of Antunis into turn one, elevating the Austrian to 4th place

De Boer and Stein are immediately on the tail of Antunis, who appears to be struggling

Stein attacks De Boer

Xanthis drops it at the fast chicane, after Copeman taps him

Another retirement on lap 5 – an oil leak knocks Nathan McGregor from the race

Vukcevic attacks Heart of Canada

Who defends well into turn 2

De Boer isn’t as lucky, as Tafuro forces the Italian car past into turn 1

Hunsley attacks Vanthoor into turn 1

A small queue is forming behind Antunis. Tafuro, after passing De Boer is very quickly onto the back of it

Stein makes his move on the grid straight

Heart takes a whack from Vukcevic

Tafuro makes it past Antunis

De Boer makes a mistake and clouts the wall

Copeman finally dispatches Xanthis

Maverick has a good look at Urazel’s car into turn 1

However, he costs himself time, and now Vukcevic is all over the back of him

The walls claim another victim, as Heart crashes heavily

Razak has a lucky escape, as he tries to bring down the gap to Zakes

Vukcevic forces his way past Maverick

And then makes short work of Urazel

Battles all the way through the field as Vanthoor chases down Huntley

Huntley manages to fend off the Belgian, and then attacks Ward into turn 1

Razak, after claiming the first GPGNC pole position, continues to make history as he makes the first GPGNC pitstop

He rejoins in 8th place

Vukcevic also makes a pitstop

Stein and Jantsher now fighting over 3rd place

Urazel having a slightly lonely time now Vukcevic has stopped

Jantsher off the hook, as Stein pits

Followed by Tafuro

After a slow stop, Stein then compounds the German team’s misery by stacking the car on his outlap

Zakes pits from the lead

Yoshimoto pits from 2nd He rejoins in front of Razak, who has been stuck in traffic

Jantsher takes the lead… when will he pit?

Urazel makes a stop

Vanthoor continues on – running a longer first stint

Hunsley retires. The south African’s suspension had enough of being bounced over the harsh kerbs…

Ward dives down the inside of Switzerland into turn 1

Heartbreak for Madagascar, as the gearbox fails.

The top 6 as half distance approaches

Maverick crashes out of 14th

Razak sets another fast lap, as Jantsher continues. Is Jantscher going to make his first stop soon?

Vukcevic passes Urazel again. A gutsy drive from the Montenegro driver.

Razak makes a 2nd stop

Jantsher finally pits. Despite the magic data saying 0 percent of drivers would make 1 stop, it seems Jantscher is proving it wrong

Yoshimoto loses concentration for a second, and hits the wall hard

Antunis takes the lead, having also not pitted yet

Tafuro is chasing Jantsher hard for the lead.

Copeman locks up. Manages to get away with it

Antunis Pits

Race order with 22 laps left

Antunis crashes, taking away Brazil’s hopes of a strong finish

Horvath has had a very quiet race and has climbed to 6th place behind Urazel

Jantsher has a huge lock-up and is lucky not to hit the wall

His mistake goes unpunished, as Tafuro makes his first stop

Vanthoor follows him in

Urazel is catching Razak very quickly

But is called in for his 2nd stop

Copeman pits from 7th place. A good recovery so far from the American

Horvath climbs to 3rd through the pitstops

Razak pits again. Seems the magic data hasn’t worked properly… GPGNC invigilators will investigate this post race

Vukcevic is running 5th, yet to stop again

Huge drama! With only 9 laps left, Jantsher hits a wall, wiping out the front right of his car!

Horvath has to take avoiding action, as he passes to take the lead

The new top 3, Horvath, from Tafuro, from Vanthoor

Razak fends off the attentions of Urazel

Copeman surprises everybody by setting the fastest race lap

Ward has spent most of his race in traffic, and is still running 9th

Horvath makes his 2nd stop, elevating Tafuro to the lead with 6 laps to run

Vanthoor is catching him fast – can he defend?

He dives for the inside

They’re side by side

Vanthoor makes it stick! Brilliant driving by the Belgian

Razak running 3rd

With only 5 laps left, here is the top 6. (pitstop information inaccurate, due to game quits)

Looks like Razak is going to have to work to keep 3rd place. Horvath and Urazel catching fast

Horvath has a look at Urazel, costing both drivers time

The final Lap

And the chequered flag! Congratulations to Laurens Vanthoor, race winner

To Paulo Tafuro, 2nd place

And Kota Razak, who held off Urazel to claim 3rd

Here is the final race result:

Thankyou for joining us for round 1 of the GPG_NC. It may have been a bit rough round the edges, but it generated a thrilling race! More race photos here: [smg.photobucket.com]

See you all next time for the Brazilian GP from Interlagos

12 DNFs? I really hope that it won't go on like this! Very disappointing, though. I knew that it'd be a hard day with not having spend any points on the race perf, but it looked not bad in the meantime. But the crash then stopped all hopes for a point. At least I haven't waisted any boost points :-)

Hi guys
This is how i set the magic data - not a clue why it didn't work for pitstops - any suggestions?

And here is the championship table with remaining perf points after round 1:

Quick note - since greece didn't have an owner for race 1, the car wasn't eligible for points. No performance points were added over the base perf in the performance file, however points were deducted from the total available balance. Greece will be eligible for points at next race, since an owner has been found.

Portugal still seeking an owner, and will remain ineligible for points until one is found :)

To retire in our opening grand prix was not what we were hoping for down under. We hope for better in Brazil.
