Yes it does. What does that mean and how to fix this?

I had this a while ago. Microsoft have an unbelievably stupid win 7 program that looks for game related art and information, it runs gameux.dll which you can't delete. However, when it fails to find it for GP4 after you have launched it, it runs an infinite loop using the whole CPU! ;)

There is a fix, but it's a batch command you have to run, I'll have a look...

Edit, download and run the bat file from this page, the Google drive link. I think it's the one I used..

I've downloaded and runned the .bat file, but it didn't heal the bugged copy. Good though that the renaming folder trick still works (i.e. renaming bugged 'Grand Prix 4' folder to anything else makes it run smooth again). I still have no idea why so, though, but I'm fine with it.

I came across this post by accident but it describes the exact issue I'm having. I have Windows 7 64 bit on both my GP4 PCs and one will always randomly stop in the middle of a race. It doesn"t shut down GP4, I can click on the icon in the lower task bar and the game will return as if I hit the PAUSE(?). Not sure if that has to do with processor occupancy or anything related to this post but any words of wisdom are welcome. Thanks

Renaming gameux.dll helped right away. GP4 started to run without delay. THANK!!!

When I attempt to rename gameux.dll, I get a message "You require permission from Trusted Installer to make this change";(?),

Did you run the .bat file as administrator from the link I posted a few comments above?

I ran this downloaded patch and chose GP4.exe as my executable. Should I have added the update to GPxPatch too? This hasn't helped my issue, which is the game going blank after several laps, throwing the GP4 icon to the bottom of the task bar, and effectively pausing the game by itself as though I have hit the space bar. Advise?

When I unzipped the bat file and opened it, I DOS like screen appeared. Did that indicate the string had been run or are there other steps?

That should be enough, check by launching GP4 with task manager opened and see if there's a run32 DLL process hogging the CPU..

That rundll32.exe appears in Services in the Task Manager every time I open GP4.

My processor occupancy never exceeds 25 on one of my PCs or about 35 on the other(?).

Hmm, did you get your LAN race working by the way?
You didn't reply to the other thread.
PS, I'm not sure about the minimising, if you're only getting 25-35% PO measured in game your problem isn't with gameux.dll
