graphics settings

Hello guys, I state now that I am Italian and use a translator to write so sorry if my English is not perfect.

So the problem I have concerns precisely the graphics settings. The first thing I describe my pc:
- Intel Core i7-950 @ 3.06ghz
- 6gb ddr3 @ 1600mhz
- 2 x velociraptor 150gb (raid0)
- ATI Radeon HD 5970
- Windows 7 Professional 64bit


I have updated the game to the 2009 season and I've downloaded, but not yet installed, the latest updates for the 2010 season and just wanted to try before you install the game. Anyway to start it I need to set the compatibility with Windows XP Service Pack 3 but I think this is quite normal.


My problems are essentially two:
1) the game can start it up to 1280x1024, I can not even get to 1600x1200 and I even wanted to run it at 1920x1080 as my monitor full-hd let me. I also tried to set the values in the file "f1graphics.cfg" within the game but I always 1280x1024. How can I do?
2) since my pc I would now like to push up the graphics of gp4 with any effect. I've set the details within the game up but I would like something more. I saw in the file "f1graphics.cfg" there are a lot of settings and let me know what you can change to increase the graphics performance.




p.s. I hope my English is at least understandable.

Your first three lines in the .cfg should look like this.


0 ; f1graphics.cfg controls all settings (default 0)
1920 ; [RELEASE] Game 3D Horizontal Resolution
1080 ; [RELEASE] Game 3D Vertical Resolution

Then in the game, set the resolution to 640 x 480, when you get to the cockpit it should then be already set as 1920 x 1080. Hope this makes sense.

I set the values in the first three .cfg file as you told me but I can not tell if the game actually part then remains at 640x480 or 1920x1080.

As regards the second question you have something to recommend?

needs to change to

1 ; f1graphics.cfg controls all settings (default 0)

Change the 1, then the graphics.cfg controls all the settings regarding the graphics ingame.

I set that value to 1 and now the game should be 1920x1080.

In .cfg file have I to change any value for maximum graphics performance?

First these:

0 ; f1graphics.cfg controls all settings (default 0)
1920 ; [RELEASE] Game 3D Horizontal Resolution
1080 ; [RELEASE] Game 3D Vertical Resolution

Then these:

3 ; [MAIN VIEW] Texture filter quality (0 => none, 1 => point, 2 => bilinear, 3 => anisotropic, 4 => flatcubic, 5 => gaussiancubic) v3
3 ; [MAIN VIEW] Texture filter quality for mipmaps - if any - (0 => none, 1 => point, 2 => bilinear, 3 => anisotropic, 4 => flatcubic/quincunx, 5 => gaussiancubic) v3
7 ; [MAIN VIEW] Max anisotropic filtering (1 => off, to max 7) v2

After saving, do not edit the resolution again ingame! When you look there is probably standing 640x480 but you need to leave that, just start a race and you'll notice.
You may still change the graphic settings in advanced. The 1 to have f1graphics.cfg control all settings isn't fully necessary.

I set everything as you told me but I did not understand why I can not set higher values (eg 4 or 5) for strings which is set 3.

Well you can always try that out, but in my experience you'll notice '3' is the best possible option

So I do not know if the resolution is now 1920x1080 but the graphics performance seems improved.

I wanted to know if any of the graphics upgrades can be done to improve the graphics on gp4.
