Does anyone know why when i record a video with fraps in GP4 it slows right down, almost slow-motion?

I've tried recording in both full and half-size and its the same, i also tried in Rfactor and its fine with that.

Also, while im here, does anyone know if i can play GP4 in 1440x900? (my desktop resolution)

Thanks

As far as I know you can play GP4 on any resolution.

Are you running a mod in high resolution? If so, set the resolution to low.

How do i play in 1440x900? do i have to change it somewhere in a cfg file? because in-game the highest option i can use is 1280x1024.

I current play GP4 in 1280x1024, but i was thinkin that this issue is GP4-specific, as i can record videos fine in rfactor at 1440x900.

edit: i just lowered GP4 res. to 800x600 in-game and tried again, still records in slow-mo

But I mean the resolution off the texuters ;)

And for the screen resolution, open notepad and open the f1graphics file in your main GP4 dir. Put 1 on the 1st line, 1440 on the 2nd line and 900 on the 3th line. If you can't figure it put, pm me, so that I can send you correct the file.

hah thanks, i sorted the screen resolution

I tried puttin the texture detail on the lowest setting, but its still recording in slow-mo

by the way, my frame-rate is fine, that dosn't drop even with everything on the highest settings. It's just the game itself which goes into like slow-mo.

I had this problem too before. Lee told me this solution.

In the FPS section of FRAPS, put in the number of frames you want per second, for example i have put 56 in XP

Then startup GP4 and in the advanced options set 56 as your frame rate and then play. It will work fab :)

Hey, sorry to bump an old thread but I cant get fraps to work properly with Gp4...

I play the game in 1920x1200 resolution and I'm trying to record a lap of mine but cant get it to record properly, every time I record with fraps the game goes REAAALLY slow, I've tried setting the fps in Fraps & in-game as the same but that does nothing to help :( any suggestions please?

Should I enable Vsync?

When I calibrated the graphic on my game, it gave me a frame rate of 60, thats good right?

Use my way ;) Taking all screenshots, recording sound separate, and mixing them together with VideoMach and VirtualDub :)

Here are some examples of what kind of results I get :

(turn volume down, I forgot to do so myself before processing)

Disable sound record and try with a lower fps....

If it is the same, use a lower resolution or set your graphics on medium...

In your Fraps menu look for option "sync audio with video" and turn it off. If it's still slow-motioned, just ignore it and see how the recorded video turns out.

Recording any video is process heavy, like playing a game, the higher res the harder it is to play smoothly, so for smooth fraps recording, use low frame rates, round about 25, set it the same in game and drop the res to 800x600, ive got some good vids with this technique

I recorded sound of my Rolling Hills vid with that technique, Lee :) I droped ingame res to 640x480 because it would lag too much on some parts of the circuit with 1024x768 ;)

Guys I still cant get this to work, I just ran the game in 800x600 and set fraps to 56 fps as well as ingame to 56 fps and set fraps to half-size and when I record a video with fraps everything goes slow and the PO is like 700% :/

considering I run the game fine in 1920x1200 normally with EVERYTHING on high, I dont understand what I'm doing wrong, someone help pls :(

for a start i personally think you have the frame rate set too high, you need it set around 20 fps on both programs, dont worry it,ll still be smooth once converted, also what are your pc specs ?

Using fraps to encode a video in realtime while playing gp4 is pretty resource intensive - so even with that CPU you'll struggle with 56 fps!.
