Ok, decided to show you early progress screens. The car is not 100% accurate so a lot of things need to be improved yet.
With Meshsmooth

I really like the result of the meshsmoothed car, of course it's a bit "rough" but it can be edited very easily. And the amount of polys is not too high, so you should have a good performance.

Nice start but I would suggest you to make your cars without meshsmooth because meshsmooth or turbosmooth are not for low poly shapes.
Btw I like that nose cone. Really good!!

It's not meant to be a low poly shape
Without Meshsmooth the car has about 600, with Meshsmooth it has about 2000 polys. A lot of the main shape is already done so I think the car will not have as much as other high-quality shapes. I can also delete some polys manually, what is quite easy to do
