[RELEASED] GP4 1996 Season - v1.0 (after 13 years now!) - NEWS: 1996 Trackpack v0.5 in first post!

Posted by kerleyf1
Hey guys, this may be an obvious question since this is literally my first attempt at modding GP4....

If I set the overall texture resolution to high in the CSM menu the game works properly, however because my laptop is quite old I've attempted to run it in medium and low setting resulting in white cars. I have fiddled with the graphic settings in game to no avail. I'd assume that this mod only supports the high quality textures then?

Kind Regards
GP2 Tifoso
yes that's right. There are only folders with high textures and no medium or low
That's a shame (for me anyway), I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for lower quality stuff to keep my PO under control.

To the (still active) authors involved

Does anyone of you mind the conversion of the mod to F1C? Imo it shouldn't be a problem as long as credits are given, especially considering that the first version still included cars which were converted from F1C.

This mod is an absolute thing of beauty :) Well done to all involved!

I had to change one of the menu tracks to this just for a little bit added authenticity ;-) Anyone who's seen the 1996 official review tape will probably recognise this piece of music!

Ah yes the background music for all the preseason and driver / team lineups! Good find!

Making the textures low and medium is the easiest, it is enough with creating 2 folders ("std" and "lo" ) and then copy the textures inside and reduce them with slimtex (I usually put 1/2 size for med textures and 1/4 for low). However, I think that what could really reduce significantly the PO would be have the lower lods of the cars, otherwise for example all the williams have about 2 MB each car, and for every team you have 10 cars, so only for the williams your cars.wad grows 20 MB without textures. New PCs can handle it without problem, but if it´s old your PO will be around 300-500% (that happens to me with the new mods).

I don't mind. Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Ok, as noone objected the conversion in the meantime, I've given the ok. Credits will be given, so I'd say it should all be fine.

I first want to see ingame screenshots of the conversion before I give the OK for a release.

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
I have sent a message to David Marques to ask him for the screenshots! I will sent it when I will received it.

Thank you already to permit the conversion, David Marques has done a so good jb on other f1c mod! ;)

PLEASE VISIT: Grand Prix Mods Blog
Hi all,

First of all, I would like to apologize for not making the initial contact personally. I was going through really bug stuff with real life that was taking up all of my time. This is why I asked the guys over at the F1C community to help out with this. I also want to applaud the GP4 team for your outstanding work with the 96 mod. It took long, but good stuff are worth waiting for. I love the way you guys pay paid so much attention to detail, even with the Dome team which never raced. Really great stuff guys. As requested, here are some screenshots of the converted cars in F1C at the 96 Canadian Grand Prix:

Also, if you allow me to release the mod, rest assured that full credit will go to you guys.

One last thing. For the Dome car, I am unable to extract the rim texture. They had a lot going on logo-wise on their rims and there's a logo that evades me. Could one of you please send me the texture of the rim? Maybe in TGA or BMP? Thanks so much
So good pics david marques! Thank you very much ;)
Looks fine to me. Ruben?

great close ups Ruben, do you have some more large close ups of the dome car?
Sadly not. Credits to Soulbringer for the pics above.
