Thank you for the great mod F1 1994, probably the best mod of the 1990s But I don't understand why it keeps crashing here is the gpx log
Can anyone help? THANK YOU

Yeah, it's great but every setting crashes after like 30 seconds. It's a shame. Only big 20th anniversary thing, and it breaks.

Sounds like the same issue I'm having with the 1995 mod :/ Haven't tested the 94 mod yet, I'll see if I encounter the same crashes

That is a great gift that Kev gave to the community for the 20th anniversary of GP4.
I strongly suggest you find out a solution by yourself or politely request it otherwise. Your behavior actually was a shame, it is easy to sit your at home enjoying the great works others do and criticizing whether anything goes wrong probably by some mistake you may did.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for not being able to respond sooner. Sadly I don't have an answer to the crashing. All I can suggest is make sure your GPXPatch settings uses all CPU's and your verbosity is set to high.

GP4 notoriously has a unstable graphics engine, and it's not really surprising that some of this content, which is pushing the boundaries of what GP4 is capable of (for example, I found a way to make my Williams exceed the car polygon limit), running higher and higher resolution textures all that begins to take its toll on some machines and cause regular CTDs. So that's why I maintained the basic version, to try and ease the older machines and make things much less complicated, and hopefully run more stably. Personally, I don't get any issues running the GP2 variant, I'm not sure if you get the same results.

In other news, another bumper release of helmets has been uploaded, which include these:

This is excellent news is it possible to share which is the way?

Thanks for the helmet's update!

Nice helmets once again.

Let me start by saying don't get your hopes up just yet.
Basically the polygon limit is per scene. In GP4Builder it's possible to add multiple scenes. For any additional scene (and you can add multiple scenes), from what I can work out, there is no naming convention you have to stick to. In theory, that allows many many more polygons to be added to the cars. So there's great potential.

But now the bad news.
Anything added to these additional scenes fly off when you damage the car (as well as staying on the car) - that's not too bad, we have that issue with anything assigned to the z_cockpit_insert object already, but these things do alter how the damaged pieces bounce.
The main issue however is that any objects in these additional scenes flicker to black (much like with known mapping issues when it's mapped outsided the UV square). Sadly, I don't have a solution for this, and neither to some of the guys I've shared this with previously.

For the Williams (the one in the mod, not the single car released version), I'm not much over the limit, so I'm able to hide those objects mostly behind the nose, so you won't really notice the flickering unless you knock off the nose.

Kev, thank you so much for taking your time to explain to me your findings.
Thanks for the exceptional 1994 mod. Raises the bar yet again. Another astounding effort.

(And as rracunis said, thx for the clarification above).

I had a whole rant type of response, but it's really not worth it and out of line from me. All I did was have a little jokey nudge-nudge sarcasm, and you got angry about it. I'm actually perfectly calm (albeit slightly bummed out), and I greatly respect Fongu's work. If I offended the guy at all, then sorry. P.S I take back the "only big 20th anniversary" thing, cos I was objectively wrong. That I am legitimately sorry about. Have a good day/night wherever you are, and stay safe.

I apologize for my rude behavior!

Nothing to apologise for, my guy. I think this was one of those "lost in translation" affairs.
This is excellent quality tbh. But I do get the same error message as mentioned 2 pages ago (can't see where to swap directx), and when I hit cancel and go into the game, the track texture is black. Not 'game breaking' but I don't understand what's gone wrong. Added all the update packs too (1, 2, 3 & Mod 1994 update 3). Any ideas?

Sorry for the late reply, but delete the Data\DirectX folder - that should do it.

I've been working away at some more 1994 content recently, here's one of the cars I've been working on:

There's much more about my thoughts on the 1994 Benetton, some thoughts into my creative process and many more screenshots, check out my blog post about it:

your blogspot is always a pleasure to read and the Benetton is outstanding, kev :-)
Love how the helmet is realistic tilted.

I installed everything and tried to play the advanced version of the 1994 mod,and when the race starts most of the textures are black. How to fix it? Basic version runs fine though.
you have to disable Fogging in the F1 Graphics Config window of the mod
