There's actually quite lot of elevation change in Brum, though most of it subtle. The highest point is about 80m higher than the lowest.

P.S. If a Brum track IS made, make sure it is realistically bumpy! That's one thing which the GP2 version couldn't capture! :)

seeing as this is my first track ill try and make it good. seeing as i live 15 mins away from where the track was it shouldnt be to hard to see the elevation changes for myself. is it possible to change the elevation in 3Deditor after the track is complete because i want to complete the basic layout first

Yes, you should do the layout at first and later adjust the hights manually.

Good luck:)

ooh, i'd rather give rough elevation changes to start with. it'll make it easier later.

though most of it subtle. The highest point is about 80m higher than the lowest.

80m? can't be that subtle. brno has about 70m change and its almost straight up in the final sector :o

@prblanco - how did you know the scale was right?

I used Google Earth's measure tool... I drew a straight line and saw how many meters it covered. Then I saved the image and saw how many pixels long the line was... with some easy calculations I found that at 200 m from the ground, 4096 pixels is nearly equal to 635 meters.

However, this is only right with tracks that are on low altitudes, because if the track is, say, 600 meters above the sea level, even if terrain is turned off you can't get the camera closer to 600 meters... so different measurements would need to be done.

Sorry! 635 are the coordinates of the horizontal surface... so it's actually half of its size... sorry :(

Correcting: with terrain turned off, with eye altitude of 200 m, photos taken from Google Earth have the following proportions on 3DEditor:

photo 4096x4096 -- horizontal surface 1270x1270
photo 2048x2048 -- horizontal surface 635x635

and so on...

Real Jerez: 4427.995 meters
My Jerez: 4430.776 meters

My track is 2.781 meters longer than real track... a difference of 0,06%... pretty accurate huh? ;)

The dual carriageways head uphill / downhill without much noticeable slope, until you actually measure it ;)

here is what ive done so far... ive never actually made a working track for gp4 so this could takes a while. so far ive just done what the basic shape of the track is, the start/finsih doesnt even line up, the angles on some corners are completely wrong and the pits is on the wrong side (using mavericks template =P) but i just want to show that ive started working on it. if anyone wants to help it would be great =)

**edit** sorry on second thoughts the shape is terrible =P i did it in 20 mins at 1 am in the morning, will give it a better try at the weekend

good start.
have you got a map under neath to help with the layout?
and dont worry too much if you decide to throw it all away and start again - i've done that many times ;-)

Didn't know that the BSP (Birmingham Superprix) track would be made for GP4.

Contact me or post here if you want photos or even videos of the tracks.

I got about 670MB of racing action around the BSP (F3000, BTCC even TVRs!) and about 104MB of photos (from 1984-1990)

Look in here for photos I took in 2003 and 2004:

A pilgrimage to the Birmingham Superprix track

It is a good idea to look into the GP3 version of the track, it is because I was involved in the project and the track layout is very accurate although the height gradients is not quite accurate though.

Here are some screens of GP3 Birmingham but I don't know if you can have an idea of the track. If you still have GP3 I think it's better you download the 2 Birmingham versions which are here :

But it is a good track as it used up the .dat file to the max with a lot of graphical features to keep it accurate as possible.

Here are some photos to start you off.

Look at the long straights (Peter barwell Hill and Belgrave Middleway) leading and from the hairpin, they are not straight, they are slightly bent if you see what I mean.

Ask me if you want specific photos of certain corners. :)
