Pitstop... Stop!

Pitstop... Stop!

Good morning guys. I took the 2016 Mod (which was great) to bring it back to 2020, but with the updated circuits I had the unpleasant surprise that the car restarts from the pitstop only if it is called back to the pits, while if I ask for a stop , the car no longer starts and the mechanics remain stationary like statues until it is put back inside the garage with consequent withdrawal. What is happening? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You need to look at the Magic data files and change the gear ratios from 1st gear. Probably it is too low. This is why cars remain stopped.

This is a problem I've had in the past, and always wondered if it could be fixed, so in your opinion what would be the average correct 1st gear ratio?

I'm not sure it's a gear problem. The problem is not that the car does not start. The problem is that the mechanics are still, immobile. They do not change tires and do not refuel. Do you think things are connected?

If you are using gpxpatch search for the option "fix pitstop bug", it is a checkbox. Try enabling or disabling, depending on what is set currently.

Thanks a lot. I'll try.

Maybe it has to do with the longer 2020 cars which are almost limousines with just one seat.

I do not know. The "fix pitstop bugs" option did not work.

I believe it is a gear ratio issue.

In recent tracks, Magic data files has a low value for 1st gear and bigger interval among gears which is great because that emulates low rpm that current cars have. However the side effect is that in some tracks cars remain stationary in the pit lane.

Try to increase values for 1st gear and close a little bit the interval among the gears. I believe it will solve the issue.

Thank you. Your advice is very useful, but unfortunately I don't think I know how to do it.

To edit these files you need to download cmagic4_102.exe

After installing you can point the program to the GP4.exe.

After opening the program, you will select the option "create Magic data from GP4.exe" you need to insert the number of the track you want to edit (ie: 1 if you want to edit Melbourne), then a file called magic4_XX.md3 (XX will be the number of the track you inserted) will be created.

By default, these file will be located in the same path you installed cmagic4.exe.

You can open this file with a notepad. It will look like this:

What you will need to change is values in the atributes 'XX;1st'. Those values are the gear ratio from 1st gear. Probably those values are currently set to a low value, like 21-23. Set those values to something closer to the value of the values set in the atribute 'XX;2nd'.

So if the values set in the atributes XX;2nd are 28, you need to set values for XX;1st to something like 25.

Save the file. After that open C4magic.exe again.

Fill the 1st text box with the full path of the DAT file of the track you edited. For instance, if you changed Melbourne, it is S1CT01.DAT file.

In the second text box, fill with the full path of the magic4_XX.md3 you changed.

Click in the option insert data.

After that, try to race again.

Did you solve this mralpha? Which track was causing you problems?

Sorry guys. I haven't had a chance to try yet. A short time before and now we are on vacation. The circuits where this problem happened to me are different. That reminds me of Melbourne, Montreal, Bahrain, Monza, Suzuka ... and nothing else comes to mind. So I figured it wasn't a Magic Data problem. The circuits were many. I had also tried different physics files and the result was always the same.

I used to have a weird pitstop problem where cars would sit in pits for ages. I ended up tracing it to the V6Turbo.cap which is in [mod name]\Data\Patch

I renamed that so it wouldn't load and that seemed to cure it. I don't know why it would have anything to do with it, or it may have just been a coincidence and I might have changed something else at the same time, but I haven't had the problem since.

So try renaming/deleting that file.
