Excalibur can I ask about the perf file editing you mention
in your included read-me?

I am adding your package to Tom's 2014 CSM mod

I see all files & where they go no problem
But in the performance file the only section for tyres is this
[Tyres]
Team #00=0
Team #01=0
Team #02=0
Team #03=1
Team #04=0
Team #05=0
Team #06=1
Team #07=1
Team #08=0
Team #09=1
Team #10=1

So according to your read-me would I add all the sections you
mention? Meaning
[TyreTextureNames]...[TreadTextures] & [WheelTextures]...?
with the info guidelines you included into performance file?

Also in this CSM mod there is the
Grand Prix 4\GPSAVES\Carsets\2014 Mod v1.0 by GP4 Central\Settings\GlobalVars.ini which shows
[compound]
AllowChange =0
Name =Tyre Compounds
VarCount =17
Var1 =SoftMedium
Var2 =MediumHard
Var3 =SoftMedium
Var4 =SoftMedium
Var5 =MediumHard
Var6 =SupersoftSoft
Var7 =SupersoftSoft
Var8 =MediumHard
Var9 =SupersoftSoft
Var10 =SoftMedium
Var11 =SoftMedium
Var12 =SoftMedium
Var13 =SoftMedium
Var14 =SoftMedium
Var15 =SoftMedium
Var16 =SoftMedium
Var17 =SoftMedium

Would that be edited as well?
Sorry for long Question & if too much no problem

Thanks

@Flying: As I mentionned above, GpxPatch4.25 is not released yet. Still in Beta tests. So, you can't useTextures ready for GpxPatch4.25 with 2014 CSM Mod and edit your performance file, for the moment. You have to use the classic tyres 2014 (tyres 2014 folder) and replace the files of the Data/ Tyres folders the same way than TomMK did. I don't use CSM mod but I guess he put the lods into a Data/Tyres/ subfolder and that for textures, there are sidewalls and treads folders. This feature is available for GpxPatch 4.25, only. I put it into the archive so people can use it when GPxPatch 4.25 will be released.

@Alessio: Into the cars.wad/ cars/ cars/ tyres folder: into the the original game, Bridgestone and michelin use tread_0 for slick treads, tread_1 for intermediate, tread_2 for wet, tread_3 for moonson but as there are only intermediate and wet tyres now, tred_1 is for intermediate, tread_2 and tread_3 are using wet treads

@flying: yes, you add those new sections to the performance text file.

@Excalibur: The final version will be GPxPatch 4.30. I can (and probably will) also add options to the [TreadTextures] to change the mapping of tyre type to texture. This should enable all 6 tyre types instead of the current 4, but will also make it possible to map all tyre types onto one or two textures. For example, this would be the default:

[TreadTextures]
Type #00=0
Type #01=0
Type #02=1
Type #03=2
Type #04=2
Type #05=3

Thanks Excalibur & Rene for your answers

@Excalibur...Yes I did do it that way & used the (tyres 2014 folder) & figured where they went & also saved the original folders but renamed to be safe.
Yes I did notice it was for GPxPatch 4.25 so did not use that stuff.

I have had some results adding to Perf.txt & also a compound option to CSM config menu via GlobalVars.ini

I have been able to choose tread but wheels are not really where I want
as I selected the Mclaren wheel for Nico's car but get the Oz wheels :)

Will keep playing with it. Thanks again

@Rene that is great news about GPxPatch 4.30
Looking forward to it! Thanks

Here are a couple shots

@Flying: As I am not a csm user friendly, I really don't know how TomMK has set the variables for his CSM mod.
Just that the wheel_mclaren is used for Mercedes only.
Maybe you should ask Tom to know how to edit the settings to get the the wheel_mclaren for Nico and Lewis only...

Ok. I didn't know that. I will add you into the credits and SoulBringer, too.
BTW, Textures are new (Pirelli, Pzero, tread texture, arrows and R&L marks). I just kept the original sidewall compound). But sure, as my textures are based on the original ones and that you are the original author, it is natural you get credits. Sorry again. You were right to tell me! ;-)

Edit: PSD sent by PM so you can check... or eventually to improve them, if you wish.

it´s all ok mate :) I have no problems what so ever if my work is used as a base or developed to make gp4 up to date etc :) btw, you could make your textures even in better quality (wihtout quality loss) by saving them in A8R8G8B8 instead of DXT5 format ...of course texture file size will be much bigger with this method.

Yes, you are right about A8R8G8B8 format but I had to find a compromise between size and weight. The sidwalls & treads textures size are in 1024x2048 to conserve details. So, the best compromise is DXT5 format regarding Processor Occupancy in game.
I tried to reduce the size /2 (512x1024) and convert into A8R8G8B8 format. The weight of the .tex is the same than in original size in DXT5 format (2,65mo). So, there is no difference and quality is the same.
