Does anyone know how to easily change the track order to mirror as best it can the 2004 order? I changed it in GPxPatch with a new track set, but the tracks out of order do not show in the game completely, there is no track and cars look like they are floating.

Suggestions welcome

I don't know if this order will work but it might be worth a try

1 S1CT01
2 S1CT02
3 S1CT06 - as there is no Bahrain, the A1-ring goes here instead
4 S1CT04
5 S1CT05
6 S1CT07
7 S1CT09
8 S1CT08
9 S1CT16
10 S1CT10
11 S1CT11
12 S1CT12
13 S1CT13
14 S1CT14
15 S1CT15
16 S1CT17
17 S1CT03

There is no China as there are not enough slots. I think this is right order to make it sort of like the 2004 order.

Hope this helps Aldrew and if you have any further problems, post on here and I will investigate what order tracks should go in if my original list is incorrect.

Thanks, but I have tried this and when I race on the track, such as the third race, which in your order is A1 (same as mine), the track does not show up in the game with the cars on the grid. It is like part of the graphics is missing. I am guessing that the game does not know how to handle the change in the order.

There is a mod at GpItalia I believe that has changed the track order to 2004.

example: how to make brazil the 17th race...

1. Activate GpxTrack in GPxpatch.
In GPxTrack, enter brazil's trackfile s1ct03.dat in slot 17 and save as xyz.set.

2. Point GP4 to the right .wad file for brazil with CMagic (by Marc Aarts):
- Start CMagic
- Browse to GP4 track file s1ct03.dat.
- click "edit gp4info"
- click "add" to add a new value
- type "prefix" as the values name and "ok"
- click in the new textfield and type the name of the tracks wad-file, "interlagos2001" without the ".wad"
- save.

3. some more GP4info-values you can add with CMagic:
"laps" (for brazil: 71), "name", "country", "adjective" ('brazilian';)

4. Insert the right magic data into brazil's trackfile s1ct03.dat with CMAgic:
- edit -> create magic-file from GP4.exe, track number 03 (because in original GP4, brazil is the third track).
- if you like, edit the magic data with a text-editor (there's a lot of interesting things, CC-setups, CC-pit strategies etc...)
- Browse to GP4 track file s1ct03.dat.
- "insert data"

5. for the loading screen: go to folder MAPS\RESOURCES in GP4-directory and rename track3.bmp to track17.bmp

6. for the menu-text, go to folder MenuData\PC\GP2001 and edit "GP2001_English.gps" (or another language) with a texteditor, search for the "Suzuka/Japan" and replace it with "interlagos".

(7. for the little map in the track-selection-menu, i didnt find anything, help appreciated...)

this works perfect for me, i hope i didnt forget anything important

greetings, jp

okay, I did as you outlined on all of the tracks that needed to be changed. Works fine, but for the suzuka track, the cars are the old original default cars and the mclarens are black. On all of the other tracks, the cars are showing up as the new ones I installed. What happened?

Well it is odd. I re-did the process and still the Suzuka track shows the old cars and the Mclarens are black. I guess I will just have to reinstall the whole game or somethine. I will first try to reinstall the gp4gamernl season set and that does not work, I will dump the whole game and start all over.

What cars.wad are you running? I have the gp4gamernl 2003 season set with various 2004 cars added on.

Hey, I figured it out. For some reason, the Suzuka track was using the carsnt.wad instead of the cars.wad. I simply made a new carsnt.wad with my regular cars.wad and everything works great.

Thank you for your help.

I assume this process described by "jp2" should work for setting the order of tracks any way you want it, as long as it is done with the correct settings for each track? I tried this once, many months ago, but had no success....

Andrew, I have a lot of that issue in your post regarding installing a new track and the cars seem to be floating as much of the track graphics are missing. Did you get that all resolved? What was the cause and what was the fix? Thanks sincerely, AustinF1

How to install tracks using GPxTrack.

Note: When you are using the GPxTrack method of installing tracks you need to pay particular attention to Step 1.
