Grand prix 4 doesn't work on Windows 7 64bit

Hello,

I installed grand prix 4 on my laptop with Windows 7 64 bit and it doesn't work...

When I put the cd-rom and start de game, I see a black screen with a cursor.

When I start the game with the cd-rom already in my laptop => DirectX 8.1 is not installed.

I changed the settings to Windows 98, but it doesn't work...

Who can help?

Patch 9.6 is already installed.

I got the same problem, but i resolve it.

I have switch on win 7 32 bit. So new updated on any hardware. GP4 run without problem.

i ve updated my graphic driver card... i regot the black screen.

so the problem is not the windows and not the 64 bit.

this is only the version of graphic card, higher its is, more problem we got.... so tried to took original driver card of your PC.

Indeed it works with Windows 7 64bit.

The most common way to make it working :
- right click the GP4.exe executable
- choose properties
- open compatibility Tab
- check "Use compatibility Mode"
- set mode to Windows XP SP3
- hit apply and ok button

Usualy it works but black screen can also come from other things somethims.

The directx 8.1 is not installed message might mean you didn't installed it at the end of the GP4 installation. Despite it is an old DX version, I've always installed it and never got this message myself.

Please, first of all, verify your installation in this order:
1- Install the game
2- Install the official patch 9.6 (until here, it seems to be ok)
3- Install the GP4NoCD (Link: [www.mediafire.com] ), set the compatibility mod for the gp4.exe, as said in Lo2k's post above and then launch the game one time until you see the menu, then quit the game.
(at this step, you don't need the CD anymore)
4- Install GPxPatch and launch the game with GpxPatch.

All these steps are important to do in this order...

Excalibur, step one and two is no problem.

On step 3, I recieve the message that binkw32.dll is missing on my computer and that I have to reinstall the game...

But the game was already reinstalled with the 9,6 patch...

Is there another patch instead of GP4NoCD I can install?
Of what do I have to do?

Try the version of GP4 from gp4 central, it is already patched with the v9.6 patch, the decrypted .exe and gpxpatch.

And never start the game with the original desktop shortcut. Either delete and recretate it or use GPxpatch's instead.

Missing bink is more often than not a video card fault. You can try to fix this error by copying the bink file to the windows/system dir.
I will post in the forum on the missing bink, there's a fix floating around somewhere but I cannot find it, maybe someone here's knows of the fix.
A black screen is always a video problem.
There is a post in the FAQ on running GP4 on Win& 64bit.
