2013 Rims & Tyres by SkaningeN----------------------------------
This is the end of my planned roadmap of updates. I promised myself to finish off the V10 and V8 era which I now have. I know there is some stuff to revisit from the beginning of my add-on projects. My stubborness have won over the fatigue when it's coming to this season this time. I might do 2014 aswell later on, but will not go longer than that. The hybrid era does not give me enough feeling to revist 2015 onwards.
With that bullshit out of the way, let's throw some more add-on crap in your face! 2013 Edition!
Here is a 2013 tyreset that has it's roots the fantastic years of 2005 to 2009.
With
Enzojz and
Lee's great talent for modding GP4 back then, I've just modernized their
work a bit to bring you an updated 2013 tyreset.
All teams have the "right" set of rims and you have several rimbolt colors to choose from. I can't say they are 100% accurate, I've only gone for the approach to make each team has "realistic" rims. What I've done it really not that much. It's been a copy-paste work for the most part, with a little painting and minor changes the only work being done besides naming the files and make it compliant with the modern GP4 we know today. This work is entirely
Enzojz,
Lee and
Josekast, don't forget that if you decide to use these files.
This set is based on my 2012 Tyres & Rims set, were the original base comes from
Josekast,
Lee and
Enzojz. The wet weather tyres have been updated.
* Hard (Orange)
* Medium (White)
* Soft (Yellow)
* Super Soft (Red)
* Intermediates (Green)
* Wet (Blue)
This set only uses one shape as Pirelli was sole tyre supplier in 2013.
"Experimental" shape:
A shape with a bigger rimbolt in several colors. This has now been tested and seems to work as intended. You need to add an extra texture in order for it to work properly. This is the shape that is most accurate for the 2013 season.
Despite it's age, these 2D rims still looks amazing to me. I have a soft spot for these since they really simulate that they are spinning better than 3d rims does. You might not agree, but then again as
Lee used to say...
If you don't like them, don't use them!
----------------------------------
Known issues:
* Due to the mapping of these tyres, the rain tyres will not work as intended. You can only choose one tyrewall for a session so if it starts dry and then rains, the tyrewall will stay the same. If someone have a solution for this, feel free to update it. Otherwise, use the awesome 3d tyreset by
Soulbringer & Vesuvius!
* Some teams used aero elements on their rims but I decided against including them. Reason for this is that I don't think it looks good when the texture itself simulates the aero parts. I tried updating the shape, but to no succes due to how the shape and alpha layer works. If you really want the aero parts, then you need to use another the awesome 3d tyreset by
Soulbringer & Vesuvius!

Big thanks to:
Enzojz: Making these tyreshapes and original textures that stood the test of time!
Lee: Improved on the tyretextures to make them look even better!
Soulbringer & Vesuvius: For their work on the 2011 tyreset were I borrowed a part from!
Josekast: For his first work with 2011 textures
Without their basework, I would not be able to share this with you. Remember that!Also, of course, to the rest of the GP4 community on your effort to keep this game alive!----------------------------------
Feel free to use this package in a mod or improve on. Credit is course needed for that,
original authors in particular!
