Sorry, I haven't seen your edit. I am gald that you fixed your problem;-)
No matter where you save the generated lods from H&WTweaker (from the moment it is not into your wad folder), it just apply names reference to force GP4.exe to remember it (as far as I know). The wheels folder into H&WTweaker is just easier to found where you store them. The most important is to rename my lods as H&WTweaker generated them and to put them into the cars/cars folder of the wad.
Yes, for TeamEditor, you need to disable the individual wheel and helmet into H&WTweaker and close the program before to open TeamEditor and to be able to change high lods options (but it was not the problem for you)

And yes, everytime you bring changes to your cars.wad (wadupdater or through TeamEditor, for example), you need to open H&WTweaker, disable and enable options again to avoid crash during loading screen;-)

Be reassured, I had many trials and fails before to understand how H&WTweaker works with GP4.exe when cars.wad is updated. This is not a big problem but there is an order to respect.
1- You put new cars into your wads. So, you have to generate new wheels with H&WTweaker, rename mines from the cars/cars folder of your wad if names are differents.
2-I never update a wad. I delete the old one and then create a new one with wadupdater (don't know if it has its importance but I know that the game crashes when updating only with some files. So, I always proceed like this, now)
2- Once the cars.wad is created, you have to open H&WTweaker again, disable and enable options, close the program. Then, launch the game...

Does it work for you with this process order?

Hi Arnaud

thanks for your help again, yeah I do normally create a new wad file for each update but I think I was so focused on getting the wheels to work and understand H&W tweaker, that I think I did amend a wheel texture and just updated the wad.

I have managed to get everything working again, I guess it's just a case of getting everything done in the right order to keep the programmes happy!! I was so used to the annual updates not being quite so detailed and so much improved, my old brain had switched off!!

Thanks again
I am gald that it worked! you are welcome, Neil! :-)

Hi Excalibur, i have problably an annoying question: it seems that the brand color on the extreme wet tyres is a darker blue compares to yours , u think it's possible to change it?
thanks.
Hi Laazio,

Here is a comparison between the wet tyre introduced at Melbourne GP and GP4 version.

I think that neither the version presented by Pirelli on their site (render) nor mine, nor the one presented in Melbourne reflect the correct blue in wet conditions (I use the same blue since 2022). Better is to wait for a race weekend in real conditions to see how the blue turns dark. I will modify it if it is really different ;-)
