GPGSL Season 17 - Round 4 Portuguese GP - Race

Welcome back to race day here in Portimao, no rain expected

Sheppard with a great qualifying yesterday will start in P1

Elleker alongside him in the first row

Away we go, and Greidanus who started in P3 had an amazing start, overtaking Elleker and now pushing Sheppard

Greidanus takes the lead, and we can see that Elleker also lost other positions to Brickles and Parachki

Too close between the BRT's

Elleker dropped to 6th

Sheppard is trying to keep up with his teammate

Buitenhuis also overtook Elleker at the start

De Los Rios and O'neill fighting for the 16th place

Elleker overtakes Buitenhuis to take the 5th position back

Brazilian showdown as Gustavo overtakes Savio for the 8th place

De Bruyker overtakes Warrington, a battle between former champions

Hinz tries an overtake on Castello

But Castello is able to shut the door and keeps his position

Championship leader Pedersen fighting with Silva for the 18th place

And he goes through

Szucs overtakes Buitenhuis

While Majumdar also overtakes Warrington

After not being able to beat Castello, now Hinz is overtaken by O'neill

How the top10 has changed since the beggining of the race

Greidanus with a good advantage already

Caranti overtakes Savio, and sits now in 9th place

And Elleker overtakes Szucs as he is trying to get back in front

Parachki takes the opportunity and also overtakes Szucs

Majumdar and De Bruyker almost touch

O'Neill overtakes Castello

Both Scorpions and MMM's with a good start so far

Hinz overtakes Castello

While Pedersen overtakes the rookie Sosa

Brickles has had a quiet race so far

Silva now overtakes Sosa as well

Elleker is closing in on Brickles

And he overtakes Brickles without much effort

He also brought Parachki with him

A battle between rookies, as Harvey overtakes his teammate Sosa

Savio is out

Oil Leak seems to be the problem

Parachki wants the 4th place for himself

But Brickles is able to hold him off for now

This has allowed Szucs to also get closer to them

Parachki tries once again

And this time he is able to complete the overtake

A lot of cars are behind Brickles right now

Greidanus is the 1st one to pit stop

Szucs overtakes Brickles

Greidanus came back to the race and is facing some traffic, this may help Sheppard

Castello tries to overtake Greidanus

And he is able to

After Sheppard's pit stop, he returned ahead of Greidanus

And we may have a battle between the teammates

Greidanus has warmer tyres, and goes for the overtake

They are so close, Sheppard doesn't lift and they're side by side in the turn

Greidanus with a better grip, overtakes Sheppard and will take the lead after everyone stops

The standings after the round of pit stops, Caranti was able to overtake both MMM's

MNeanwhile Brickles dropped 4 positions

Karda was able to overtake Sosa

Buitenhuis tries to overtake Gustavo

Gustavo is able to hold him, and De Bruyker takes the opportunity to also overtake Brickles

De Bruyker now attacks Buitenhuis

And his teammate Majumdar tries to overtake Brickles

A 4 car battle

Buitenhuis remains in 8th, while Majumdar overtook Brickles

The pit stops were awful for Warrington, who now sits in 18th

Brickles retakes his position back from Majumdar

Silva overtakes De Los Rios

Hinz seems to be retiring the car

Transmission and Oil Problems

End of race for the German

Gustavo overtakes Caranti and sits in 6th place now

O'neill overtakes Majumdar

Buitenhuis is the next one to overtake Caranti

Pedersen is trying very hard to get to the points

He sits in 14th now

Sheppard has a problem

A lot of problems actually, a shame for him, who was having a great weekend so far

He retires the car

With this, Castello is in the points in his return to the GPGSL, can he hold Pedersen behind him until the end?

Maybe he will, as Silva is now pushing for an overtake on Pedersen

Side by side

And the Danish remains in front of the Portuguese

Greidanus wins the Portuguese GP in a dominant way

Elleker finishes in 2nd

And Parachki in 3rd

First ten laps went alright for me but then the pace just fell off dramatically. Double points are still good though.

I noticed a mistake, I have the helmet used by Jafari Blackwood. It felt strange when I saw the top three finishers because my helmet is pink

Happy to bring in the first points in my comeback for the team. Just one thing I noticed from screenshots...

Am I seeing it right, is the mod using my old GPGSL helmet with brazilian colors?

I am sure I sent Eric my new helmet as requested last month :S If there is something I need to fix in my files please let me know! Thanks in advance :)

And hoooray, points on (re)debut! I'm off to a karaoke night to celebrate :P

EDIT: Also thanks to Silva who helped me to keep the position by putting pressure on Pedersen :)

Commanding performance by Ruben, and a more than deserved win today. At the same time heartbreak on the other side of the garage for Glen, we deserved that 1-2 today, there was noone who could match our pace.

@Ennis I have to check, probably forgot the driverchange in the globalvars. That has no effect on the perfs though, so at least that was fine

@Castello he sent it to the GPGSL account, which I pretty much never check. It will be in for next round

Likely no points on the table anyway, so I don't mind the DNF too much. The pace was worrying however.

Thanks for running the race, no worries regarding the small delay.

This should be an easy 1-2 for the team, very unlucky for Glen with mechanical failures just 3 laps before the end.
For me, it was a superb race, with the fastest lap and a great little fight with Glen half-distance.

Thanks! It was funny tho to see the old helmet back, I had an off-brand real life version of it back then, which I discarded in 2012 when I switched to an Arai GP-6 with wings and a new design in spanish colors. To this date I still have my current design IRL helmet from my karting days. The wings broke when it fell to the ground a few years ago so it no longer has wings... (probably shaved off .5 seconds due to less weight hahaha)

Awful race start but glad my pace picked back up again. If it weren't for the bad start I think I'd have been in a fight for the win!
