Good qualifying from my drivers, I wonder how we ended dead last in practice.

GPGSL Season 17 - Round 2 South African GP - Qualifying

It is race day here in Kyalami, the rain is still here and track conditions are really slippery. Rookie Carlos Sosa put on a great lap on qualifying to reach a unexpected pole position, can he keep the momentum?

Without further ado, let's see for ourselves.

And here we go, Sossa with a good start, keeping up the first place

But Buitenhuis is right behind him

We approach the first corner, Buitenhuis and De Bruyker are waiting for any opportunity

Buitenhuis is going for the overtake

Meanwhile his teammate Gustavo loses two positions to Pedersen and Elleker

Gustavo is side by side with Brickles

And they touch

Gustavo car flips upside down, and Brickles spins

Massive crash for the reigning champion

Caranti has to almost stop his car, which makes him lose some positions

Brickles returns in 18th

O'Neill hit some debris in the track and will need to go to the garage to fix it

Caranti dropped to 9th place

And somehow Gustavo was able to return, with a lot of damage

De Bruyker overtakes Sosa for the 2nd place

Meanwhile Sheppard overtakes Caranti to take the 9th place for himself

Brickles is trying to overtake some cars and return to the front of the field

He overtakes Majumdar

O'Neill fixes his front wing

Gustavo is able to reach the garage, but he is 1 lap behind already

De Los Rios tries to overtake Caranti

But he loses the back of his car

He spins into the grass

And returns in 18th place, not a good race for the Alphas so far

Gustavo was able to return to the race, and now faces some battles with the top 5 of the race, showing that his car could compete for the win if he was not one lap behind

Unseen by the cameras, Sosa was also overtook by Pedersen

Silva overtakes Hartley, and we can see how the top 10 changed so far, Karda gained 9 positions in a couple of laps, good job by the Cech

Beggani overtakes De Los Rios to take the 18th place

Blackwood seems to be the next in line to overtake Caranti

And he makes the overtake

Pedersen is closing in on De Bruyker

The championship leader puts his car besides De Bruyker

And overtakes, to gain the 2nd place

Sosa is overtaken by Elleker

And Majumdar retakes his old position from Brickles

Beggani spins as he was close to Hinz

He goes into the grass and will try to return to the track

Pedersen goes for the lead

While his teammate Elleker also tries an overtake on De Bruyker

Pedersen is the new race leader

De Bruyker drops to 4th

Beggani returned in 21st

Elleker is now chasing Buitenhuis

And heovertakes the Dutch, Buitenhuis drops to 3rd place

De Bruyker also tries an move on Buitenhuis

And is able to complete the overtake

Silva goes off on his own

And returns in 19th place

Gustavo overtakes Buitenhuis, I'm not sure what he is trying there since he is 1 lap behind

Elleker tries to overtake his teammate for the lead

They are so close

Elleker hits the brakes to avoid a accident there

Karda goes off on hiw own and now must return to the track

Elleker once again trying an overtake on pedersen

Side by side on turn 1

And he takes the lead, Elleker is the new race leader

Karda returned in 19th place

Warrington tries to overtake Sosa, but this is not a good place for thie maneuver

He hits Sosa in the back

Which causes both drivers to spin and go to the grass

It will sure take some time for them to return, a shame for the rookie Sosa

Warrington returns in 20th

Sosa in dead last

Szucs is the first one to pit

Buitenhuis with an engine problem, but the team may be able to fix it in the pit stop

And yes, they managed to fix it

After the round of pit stops, here are the standings, Majumdar with an incredible 8th place

Brickles is inside the points, despite the lap 1 accident

The other drivers that had some accidents were not so lucky

De Los Rios tries an overtake on Caranti

And takes the 11th place

Rookie Blackwood overtakes Sheppard for the 6th place

And Hinz overtakes Caranti to take the 12th place for himself

De Los Rios goes too wide

And spins

He returns in 21st place, what a shame for the Spanish

greidanus overtakes Silva

Hinz overtakes Savio

And Blackwood forces an overtake on his teammate, teamboss Parachki will not be thriled by the rookie move so close to the end of the race

He is now in front of Szucs

John Elleker wind the South African GP

Pedersen in 2nd place, after a strong weekend by the Christels

De Bruyker finishes in 3rd place

Results

Top 6 for both cars, risky move from Jafari there but luckily he pulled it off at the end.

Nice, never thought I could grab some points here. Conditions helped a lot, surely.

Great coverage, thanks, Nata.

used to be GPGSL's Nick Heidfeld
At last a top 10 final. My pace was awful, considering 18th fastest lap overall. Either way, halfway through the race I was P10 to the end. What a thrill!
Sad for Warrington, he deserved better than that.

Thanks Yakuza, and thanks for transmission.

Ps: Mr. Greidanus, I couldn't find thou in my mirrors.

I can't seem to avoid MMM drivers at the moment but at least something was rescued out of it.
Ok started from 3th place and finished on the podium in 3th place.

Well, I take 3th place anytime ;-)

Nice coverage btw, well done Natã

Terrible race for me... Need to move on
Both cars in thje points, if it wasn't for that first laps incident, we could have scored even more

Bad day at the office :(

BOOM!!! Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!!!

Great drive from Jack and wonderful battling between him and Michael. I watched that entire thing from behind cushion! Our first ever 1-2! Whisper it quietly but, “we’ve got a whole load of pace this year.”
