So, I'm wanting to do a video on why Grand Prix 4 is the best racing game of all time, but I want to do a bit of research. While I got track names like Shanghai and Jerez, I was wondering if the first ever builds of those tracks even still exist anymore.

And on that note, what was the first ever CSM mod made for the game?

If anyone could link me to an surviving info on the oldest tracks and mods (or better yet, the first fanmade things when it all started), I would be extremely grateful.

This forum is the best place to look.
It started with car livery updates and track liveries.
Then car shapes started. 1991, 1995, 2002 gp4italia, 2003 GP4.gamer.nl mods were among the first CSM mods, and then track editing came years later.

i think the first ever csm mods were the ITC 1996, Cart Mod 2002, Champcar 2003, GT and F1 1999 aswell as F1 2000

The first gp4 website was Alphaf1

The first things that came out where livery updates for the original cars(2001).

Soon after their was something called Megapatch 2002 witch was a massive update to the 2002 season(everything except tracks)

GP4 Physics Editor was released in november 2002

2003 Hotlaps.de Gp4 was introduced into the competition. The first league or competition for GP4. A website dedicated to hotlaps of many games.

Gp4 tweaker and first version of CSM was released in 2003

Next was the ITC 1996 csm mod witch i think was the first csm mod.

F1gamer.nl 2003 and 2004 where my favorite mods that where non CSM but the 2004 had a version witch was CSM.
Also their was a Megapatch 2004.

2004 Alphaf1 was bought and is Grandprixgames.org today.

2005 the first 3dbuilder version available, it was the start of a new era for GP4 because it was the first track editor, it was buggy but it
was a start. Only very basic things could be done.

2006 The 2005 CSM mod witch was the first CSM MOD that had a CSM menu with specific liverys each car, drivers helmets etc etc and it had the first TSM track pack for it.

2007 was another massive step forward in track editing because of Gp4builder 1.0, lots of new features and is the base of the current
track editing tool witch was developed until 2017.

The first build of Jerez is the one still available at the F1virtual website, released Christmas 2005.

I never updated it myself despite many promises to do so ;) other modders took that job instead.

Yeahh Paulo !!
Also maybe you remember the version i asked you to do to include brake signs so that
the track got used in Hotlaps.de Gp4 competition. It was the first track ever to be used
for this kind of purpose that was not original from Gp4.
Here is the link: [www.mediafire.com]

Also your memorable Hungaroring 2006 along with Gildoorf was a joy back in the day!!.

Some may not know but i was the Gp4 admin of Hotlaps.de from 2005 till 2010 when the website closed.

If I remember correctly one of the first mods (non-csm however) was the first iteration of the 95 mod. Basically just a wad file and sone menu graphics that one would just copy over the standard Gp4 install.

used to be GPGSL's Nick Heidfeld
