I'd love race events ! But how do you race online with GP4 ?
Hey guys sorry, for not competing yet. I did actually do some laps in Melbourne but I just couldnt find the time to properly set everything up accordingly.
Online racing is actually possible in GP4 but only over programs that have a virtual LAN server multiple persons can join.
I tested it once with a friend and it worked ok enough :)

Hi Hinyldee,

You race using the quickrace menu inside gp4.
We set the % of the distance in Gpxpatch - GpxSet menu calculating the 5 laps or what ever you want for the event.
Once completed the race you exit the race saving the file.
Its important for checking that the replay its set to 1h30min for compability and checking visualy by judges.

Thats how it was done the non TL(Time Limited) method.

The TL method is harder(using same method as the non TL method) because you get a TL code, you insert it next to your name inside the game or performance file
and you have to do your race lets say for a 5 lap race can be 20minutes and upload the race file within that time.
Thats the best and realistic as it can be to online gaming at present unless someone finds a fix to Gp4 to conect to others without compromising % of CPU, lag, etc

Wow! That 4th spot was close.

To be honest I'm really surprised with 4th place this weekend because I never managed to make an entire lap without missing the apex on any of the turns 1, 3, 6, 11 and 13.

I made a lap in 21.4 but I decided not to post it because it could potentially be invalidated due to track limits. So I played it safe and posted a conservative lap.

Anyway, it was a nice battle. We are getting closer to the top 3 and it could be a good sign for the upcoming weekends.

Huge congrats to everyone, It's been fun to participate in this league.

Oh wow OK ! I thought it could be like F1 Challenge with hosting on servers and the like, but this sounds complicated
My first laps after 20 years was great, i really enjoyed it too much. I tried to understand the effect of gear ratios, which I wasn't given priority before, and understood it really helps. I managed some beter laps mid of 21s with save/restore car option. However without it I couldn't put the all best sectors together, but I m still pleased with my time. Thanks guys for the great competition, all laps are impressive.

....................

About the 5th race, i prefer to race in Istanbul, because I haven't before, but it may take place of Russia this year if Turkey can pay the rent. My second choice is Magnycorse.

I still can't get to grips with how they work and usually fiddle around them randomly. Would a charitable person explain to me the effects of increasing and lowering the ratios please ?

I am rook about setups, but i will try to explain what I understood.
When the 1st gear ratio starts at a lower level, you speed up faster at the exit of low speed corners. The gap between ratios are smaller (about 4) in the lower gears than I raise the gap to 5 or 6 at higher gears . So for being faster in slow corners, means you can't reach a very high top speed at 7th gear. In Melbourne i preferred to be faster in slow corners, so i setup higher wing levels, and lower gear ratios. My top speed was low, but i was fast at corners. As I said I'm so rook. 20 years ago when I played this game, i was just changing wings, or i found a setup from another ones hotlap. You can see the setup when you open hotlap in hofxlap program.
I remember that, ones o watched a good drivers hotlap and I saw that he can slow down faster and speed up faster than me, which means it is about setup not driving skill. But still I don't know how it works.

Hello everyone.

I would like to ask a question.
For the Spanish GP, are you going to do the league with the Montmeló track with the current new layout? With the modification of curve 10?

Greetings and good luck in this wonderful league.

Thanks for the hints, I'll try to look up other infos on top of that, and maybe just fiddling arund a bit will help me understand more about the car behaviour

Not from me, maybe from someone else ;-)

It's race week! Round 4 at Imola is now underway!

Also, an e-mail has been sent for choosing the Round 5 venue. Since nearly all available circuits were mentioned, the voting form includes them all.

I'd Love to race in Dubai or Vallelunga.
Nice to race in Imola 2021 track. Love it :-) .

In the original Imola of Gp4 i was pretty good at it so lets see this new track what we can do.
Its very easy to be outside the white lines in many of the turns and especially in the chicane at the variante alta.

Sugestion: the rear wing its not good to be so low in downforce here, many medium to high speed corners.

Kind regards
Jorge.

Yeah, the old layout before 95 suited a low downforce configuration, with the long run up to Tamburello, but since the first sector changed it's better to have a good amount of downforce to launch through the sequence of corners. Sector 2 is my favourite, it's so nicely flowing and fun to drive.
The guys did an outstanding job on the 2021 version ! Tried it and even with the keyboard it's oh so fun to blast through. I'll give it my all this time to have a better laptime. I can't linger at the back >:(
I suspect the top guys will probably run laps in 1.15s range.

WHAT ? I'd be 4s down...
with keyboard i can hardly reach mid of 1.18s.
I did today a 21 lap race simulating the Sprint race and i did this:

GP4 1.02 Saved game for track 4: Imola
Level: Ace /
Race type: Quickrace Session: Race (33%, 21 laps)
Weather type: Custom Probability of rain: 0%
Car #2, driven by jorge (ferrari - cosworth)
Power: 855 BHP, weight 606 kg, fuel laps: 0.5
Race time after 21 lap(s): 0h27m45.195s pos 1, 21 lap(s) completed
Qualify lap time: n/a pos 1 on grid
Fastest lap time: 1:18.393 pos 1 (split1 0:22.275, split2 0:49.236)

I could have been 3 or 4 seconds faster the total race time but was good overal.

Imola results!

It's the same roster as ever on the podium, JCaranti makes it four in a row and newcomer deokastyler just misses on a very impressive debut by having his fastest lap invalidated on the last corner.

Meanwhile, we have some insanely close gaps all across the field and many positions were ultimately decided by details (and track limits!)

EDIT: JCaranti's sector 3 was actually 28.516, I'll fix the image later.
