Another sensational lap from Montoya again. Robert is in all sorts of problems in 18th, in a car capable of pole position.

2006 Spanish Grand Prix

Hello and welcome to the 2006 Spanish Grand Prix. Juan-Pablo Montoya took yet another pole for Mclaren yesterday but can he convert it into another win? Let's find out.

Lap 1/66

It's light out and away we go.

An electric start from Jenson Button in 3rd.

He moves into the lead!

Lap 2/66

Alonso passes Sato 3rd.

Schumacher moves into P6 with a pass on Raikkonen.

A look at the current order.

Heidfeld dives down the inside of Raikkonen.

Lap 3/66

Sato takes back 3rd from Alonso.

Lap 4/66

Down the field, Ralf Schumacher overtakes Glock.

Lap 5/66

Raikkonen loses yet another place, this time to Di Resta.

Lap 7/66

What's up with Raikkonen today? Massa's now passed him too.

Lotterer spins off and drops to the back.

Lap 11/66

Off goes Lotterer again.

Lap 15/66

Has Raikkonen woken up? He moves back into 9th with a pass on Massa.

Lap 17/66

Massa retakes 9th.

Lap 18/66

Ralf Schumacher dives down the inside of Barrichello for 12th.

Lap 22/66

Trulli spins off. A consequence of going long on those tyres?

Lap 25/66

The pitstops have been kind to Heidfeld and Michael Schumacher, they've both gained places.

Lap 29/66

A transmission failure ends Kobayashi's race.

Lap 33/66

The order at half-race distance. Sato and Massa made massive gains in the first pitstop period.

Lap 34/66

Barrichelllo passes Hamilton for 8th.

Lap 45/66

Yes we're still here...just about. Sato has come out of the pits ahead of Button! We think Button has to stop again too.

Lap 48/66

Finally some action! Heidfeld makes a mistake and goes off.

He rejoins the track infront of Ralf Schumacher and the two collide.

Both drivers will need to pit.

Lap 53/66

Hamilton spins off and drops down the order.

Lap 56/66

With 10 laps to go, here's the order. A lot of change during the pitstops and not a lot on track unfortunately.

Lap 62/66

A look at the position changes from the grid positions.

It looks like Trulli's engine has let go. That'll be the end of his race.

Lap 63/66

Disaster for Barrichello! A transmission failure robs him of some points today.

Lap 65/66

Glock runs wide and drops 2 places.

Lap 66/66

Takuma Sato wins the Spanish Grand Prix.

Juan-Pablo Montoya is 2nd.

With Felipe Massa 3rd.

Red Bull

Not the result we wanted, we are happy with the points, though.

Toro Rosso

Another bad day for Kamui.

Another race, another podium for Felipe! If we're not mistaken, that's 4 podiums in a row for him in the last 4 races which is incredible from the Brazilian.

Nick really can't catch a break at all after creating a mistake and rejoining at the worst place. His time will definitely come at some point.

Spyker

A rough day once again. Shame these kind of mistakes from our drivers is haunting us at the worst possible scenario.
Toyota

We got the strategy wrong but a great drive from Jenson to come home 4th. Another poor drive from Lewis, it looks like he's not ready for full-time racing just yet.

Another podium for Juan Pablo and extends his championship lead. However Robert somehow onlymade up 1 place despite 3 cars in front of him DNFing. As such, we have made the decision to drop him from the next race and welcome Australian Mark Webber.

Renault

The last two races were awful, we could have scored a lot more of points

2006 Mid-Season Test #1

Only 7 teams took part in the first mid-season test of the season. The news before the session was a number of driver moves with Mark Webber replacing Robert Kubica at Mclaren, David Couthard replacing Scott Dixon at Toyota with Lewis Hamilton moving to a test driver role, and Nico Rosberg and Kamui Kobayashi switching teams in the Red Bull family.

The signing of Mark Webber by Mclaren looks to be a good one as the Aussie returned to F1 with the fastest time of the session ahead of Jenson Button of Toyota and his teammate Juan-Pablo Montoya.

Felipe's pace is still good as we hoped for in the testing and Nick's pace is a bit far behind somehow. We still have competitive pace, but McLarens look really quick there which it'll be difficult to fight them.

Spyker

Anthony's pace in testing looks very impressive from the side of things. Andre and Timo pace isn't great, which puts us in a tough place for getting good results in upcoming GPs.

Great showing in testing, vindicating our choice to bring Mark to McLaren

Not the best day for us. The car seems not to be performing at a good level. We welcome Kamui aboard Red Bull Racing. Media and fan pressure warranted a switch at our team with Toro Rosso, we believe Nico will have a much better time at our sister team, he will remain there for the rest of the time being unless Kamui performs at a similar level to Nico’s.

Toro Rosso

We hope Kamui can be a great addition to Red Bull Racing. Nico showed his good results in 2005, however it seems he can’t really get to grips with our sister team’s car. We believe his experience will help us develop more and more this year. In terms of the session, it matched our expectations.

We expect a top 5 finish in qualifying.

Toro Rosso

Decent performance by Rosberg, but we don’t expect a top 15 finish.

Notice

I've ran into a few issues whilst running the Grand Prix, other than it being a snoozefest.

1st attempt saw a pitstop bug where two drivers got stuck in the pits during the race.

The 2nd attempt has the pitstops working but everyone pitting at the same time, causing massive traffic in the pitlane.

The two choices are we can either take the result of the 2nd attempt or I will source a new version of the track and post a 'no screenshot' race.

It seems we have a good pace for another top 5 result. Though it'll be difficult so we need to get everything right in qualifying.

Spyker

Very strong showings from Anthony and Andre in free practice. We could expect to qualify somewhere in the middle or low top 10. Let's hope everything is fine from here.

Well placed for double points.

I think John make the call - I guess it depends how messed up the order becomes with the pitstop issue?

I've decided to source a different Monaco in the interest of fairness. As much as it pains me given that Button won the race
