A great race from Jenson but disappointing to see Felipe out of the points.

Luck wasn’t on our side this time, we will have a lot of work to do in the race

Toyota

An absolute mega lap from Jenson in the rain. He really is one of the best in the wet. A good performance from Felipe aswell. Fingers crossed we can convert this into a good result in the race tomorrow.

Jordan

Quite a good qualifying result we were looking for. P14 from Nico and P17 from Heikki looks fine for us. We'll see how the race stands out and hope for a great outcome.
McLaren

Both cars right in the mix, fingers crossed a big double points haul

Nice quali from Christian, while Andre has been a bit of a mixed bag. We'll see whether we need to call up Tomas instead of him later in the season.

Both cars inside the top 10. Really good stuff

2005 Canadian Grand Prix

Hello and welcome to the 2005 Canadian Grand Prix. Yesterday the weather played havoc in qualifying and Toyota's Jenson Button took a surprise pole position. It's still pouring down in Montreal but how much will the weather have an effect? Let's find out.

Lap 70/70

It's lights out and away we go.

Button keeps the lead through the first corner.

Lap 69/70

A look at the race order after a quiet opening lap.

Lotterer has a trip across the grass and drops to the back.

Lap 67/70

Lotterer makes contact with Kubica.

That causes him to spin and lose time.

Lap 65/70

Maldonado makes a neat pass on Senna towards the back.

Lap 63/70

At the back, there seems to be quite the train forming behind Vettel.

Jacques Villeneuve makes a move down the inside to take 14th.

Dixon also goes through but what's going on behind them?

It looks like Kovalainen tapped the back of Davidson.

Davidson was forced wide but rejoined in 17th.

Kovalainen wasn't so lucky, a spin has dropped him to the back.

Lap 61/70

Massa passes Montoya for P6.

Davidson very nearly spins whilst battling Maldonado. He manages to hold it but drops a few places.

Lap 58/70

It's close at the back of the field!

Why can't we have this at the front!?

Speaking of which, Button's lead is now 5 seconds over Michael Schumacher.

Lap 56/70

Sato is all over the back of Barrichello.

He makes his move and moves into 9th.

Lap 54/70

Raikkonen is putting real pressure on Webber for 3rd.

Lap 52/70

Sato moves into the points as he dives down the inside of Alonso.

Lap 50/70

Massa passes Castro-Neves for 5th having been stuck behind him for a while.

Lap 49/70

Dixon and Maldonado are the first men to stop this afternoon.

Lap 48/70

Sato passes his teammate for 7th.

Davidson and Dixon collide as the latter exits the pit lane!

Christian Klien pits.

Lap 47/70

Davidson is out of the race whilst Dixon continues in 19th.

Sato is on fire. He's now passed Castro-Neves.

Lap 46/70

Sato makes his first stop. Rosberg also comes in.

Lap 45/70

Villeneuve and Lotterer pit.

Lap 44/70

De La Rosa pits.

Lap 43/70

Senna and Webber make their first stops. Webber pitting will please Raikkonen who was still stuck behind the Australian.

Lap 42/70

Massa is the next man in. A long stop for the Brazilian which could be interesting for strategy later.

Lap 41/70

Castro-Neves pits.

Lap 40/70

Sato passes Webber.

Race leader Button is in for his first stop. Raikkonen and Montoya also pit for Williams and Ferrari.

Lap 39/70

Vettel and Kovalainen make their first stops.

Lap 38/70

Alonso and Barrichello pit from 3rd and 4th respectively. Kubica also pits.

Lap 36/70

Race leader Schumacher is the last man to make his first stop of the afternoon. He comes out in 2nd.

Lap 35/70

A look at the running order after the first round of stops.

Lap 34/70

Barrichello passes his teammate for 8th.

Lap 33/70

Raikkonen dives down the inside of Webber for 4th.

Lap 30/70

Vettel taps Maldonado and spins. Maldonado carries on but Vettel drops to 20th.

De La Rosa is forced to pit with a throttle issue.

Lap 27/70

Massa is being held up by Webber. This will really be hurting his race strategy.

Lap 25/70

Villeneuve, Barrichello and Sato pit.

Lap 24/70

Alonso slides off and narrowly avoids the barrier.

Lotterer, Kovalainen, Klien and race leader Button are in for their stops.

Lap 23/70

Dixon pits for BAR.

Lap 21/70

Schumacher is the latest to pit for the second time. Montoya also pits.

Lap 18/70

Kubica, Castro-Neves and Alonso pit.

Lap 17/70

Raikkonen and Rosberg are in for their stops.

Lap 16/70

Senna and Webber pit. What can Massa do now to try and get past Webber when he stops?

Lap 15/70

De La Rosa and Maldonado pit.

Sato is out! His engine has given up.

Lap 12/70

Massa pits from 3rd but has he done enough to leapfrog Webber?

Lap 11/70

No he hasn't!

Lap 10/70

Here's the top 8 with 10 laps to go.

Lap 8/70

The battle for 4th could be very interesting in the remaining laps.

Oh my word! I wasn't expecting that! Barrichello gets a tyre on the grass and spins the Renault! He drops to 9th.

Lap 5/70

Apparently, no one wants 4th! Montoya slides off and drops down to 6th.

Lap 4/70

This is incredible! Massa hits Webber looking to take 4th.

Webber carries on in 4th but Massa spins and drops out of the points!

Lap 0/70

Jenson Button wins for the first time in his career! It's Toyota's first win since San Marino last season.

Michael Schumacher is second.

And Kimi Raikkonen rounds off a great day for Williams with 3rd.

The worst weekend we have had in a long time. We could definitely finish on the podium, or even battle for the win. We will make lineup changes for 2006

Happy enough to be in the points, and Fernando still in the title hunt. We are gutted he has decided to leave us for 2006.

Yes Jenson yes! A quality drive and showing exactly why it was a good idea to bring him in. Felipe on the other hand, poor. He needs a result when we go to the USA.

Good drive from Nico in the wet race, but the result for us wasn't quite convincing in the end. Heikki on his first race with Jordan has gone off to a sloopy start after a contact, though he did well enough to finish 15th.

My god Button dominated that race, surprised we didnt see more accidents in the wet!

BAR

Not much to comment on that race, a so-so effort we were always going to struggle in the rain.

Delighted that we have strengthened our connection with Honda, its true we tried a marquee signing in Alonso but he didn't buy in to the vision. Still one thing we are certain is Honda will require a Japanese driver in one of the seats, so JV and Dixon are potentially battling for the remaining spot, but we will be keeping an eye out in the market to really make an assault on the top of the order next season.

We ain’t giving Sato. You can get Montoya if you want. We’ll just tell him to get Japanese citizenship if you don’t get a Japanese driver.

Sincerely
Scuderia Ferrari

Its been an awful year so far, Vettel has show some pace and potential, but Bruno is not in the same level as his team mate, we are current negotiating with a buyer, and expect to see some huge news over the next few weeks

He's back!!

Great news that Alonso is returning home, he is one of the best drivers of his generation, and we are sure going to keep him for a long time.
