Ferrari

We didn’t have the pace today, we hope for better results in the next race.

Toyota

Disappointing to see Hamilton crash out but a good result for Felipe. The form of Alonso is a worry in the fight for 3rd place but we're hoping the experience of Jenson will help us bridge the gap and we thank Lewis for being so understanding in regards to stepping back into the test driver seat. He will be back in the race seat eventually.

What a drive by Alonso, absolutely unreal! Top of the drivers standings.

Solid result, thanks to Hamilton we managed to pick up a point.

Jacques Villeneuve - Q19 - R14
Fairly anonymous, nowhere in quali, always going to be tough from there.

Scott Dixon - Q9 - R8
Great weekend, benefitted from Hamilton error but a point is a point, showed real improvement over last 2 races

Jordan

It's P10 for Nico, a good race for him despite not scoring points today. Vitaly pretty much couldn't catch a break with another mechanical failure for second race in succession.

Not the best way we could have but overall an average day for us.
2005 Mid Season Test #1

The first mid-season test of the season in Austria saw 10 of the 11 teams decide to take part. Teams running the soft tyres or running race simulations made the most gains during the session. Kimi Raikkonen was the fastest on track as Williams solidified their status as the team to beat.

Webber joins Mclaren

The main talking point of the session though was the announcement from Mclaren that Mark Webber is to replace Timo Glock for the rest of the 2005 season.

Decent showing at the test. Also welcome to Mark Webber who we hope will be able to run close to Fernando. We wish Timo well for the future.

Great qualifying for the team. Renault and Toyota are to be watched out, we will have a tough fight with the other cars.

How much have Satos stats improved to become this dominant force of nature? Is it worth sticking with a driver and hoping a few good results will see them develop?

BAR
Points look like a tough ask here
Toyota

A very solid start to the weekend. Looking good for a good points haul here.

He was quite high on the original driver list anyway but he's definitely seen the benefit of being in a very good car for a season and a half

Montoya is also capable of good results as shown last season, but for some reason, he dropped in performance this season. I think this is continuation of the second half of 2004, where we had multiple retirements and driver mistakes. Luck has to be considered as well.

2005 European Grand Prix

Hello and welcome to the European Grand Prix. Yesterday Ferrari's Takuma Sato took pole, can he convert that into a race win? How will Jenson Button and Mark Webber do on their debuts for their new teams? Let's find out.

Lap 60/60

It's lights out and away we go.

Barrichello gets away like a rocket ship and takes the lead.

Sato fights back though and goes back ahead.

Meanwhile, Webber has jumped Button for 4th.

A good start for Massa, he's up to 7th.

Button dives down the inside of Webber to retake 4th.

Lap 59/60

A look at the race order after lap 1.

Schumacher passes De La Rosa for 9th.

Lap 58/60

Dixon also passes De La Rosa.

Massive contact at the back as Rosberg rejoins the track after running wide!

Rosberg is out.

Lap 57/60

It looks like Jacques Villeneuve was the other driver involved.

Montoya passes Barrichello for 2nd.

Lap 56/60

Schumacher passes Massa for 7th. It would appear he also passed his teammate off camera at some point.

Button passes Barrichello for 3rd.

Lap 55/60

A big off for Senna in the Minardi!

Lap 54/60

Mark Webber has become the latest victim of a rampant Michael Schumacher somewhere around the lap.

Lap 51/60

Schumacher passes Alonso. He's driving like a man possessed.

Lap 50/60

Montoya takes the lead!

Oh no! He's undone all his hard work by spinning off the track. That's dropped him to 19th.

Lap 49/60

Barrichello is the latest man to be passed by Michael Schumacher.

Lap 48/60

After all that overtaking, Schumacher has spun off. What a shame that is. He's now 19th.

Lap 46/60

A quick look at the running order.

Andre Lotterer is the first man in for a stop today.

Lap 44/60

Schumacher pits.

Lap 43/60

Alonso passes Barrichello for 3rd.

Lap 42/60

Vettel pits from 13th.

Lap 41/60

Robert Kubica is the next man in. Senna also pits.

Lap 40/60

Jenson Button pits from 2nd, he was only one second behind Sato. Davidson, Maldonado and Montoya also make their 1st stops.

Lap 39/60

Klien and De La Rosa pit.

Lap 38/60

Alonso is in for his first stop.

Lap 35/60

Looks like there's a queue forming behind Petrov, who is yet to stop.

Speaking of which, he pits at the end of the lap. Castro-Neves also comes in.

Lap 33/60

Barrichello and Webber pit from 2nd and 3rd. Dixon is also in.

Lap 32/60

Massa and Raikkonen pit.

Lap 31/60

Raikkonen comes out ahead of Massa.

Lap 30/60

Race leader Sato finally makes his 1st stop and he is safely back out in the lead.

Lap 29/60

Klien has an excursion off the track. He drops to 17th.

Here's the current running order.

Lap 28/60

Massa makes a mistake and spins off. He rejoins in 12th.

Montoya spins whilst trying to overtake Lotterer.

Lap 27/60

Michael Schumacher makes his second stop.

Lap 26/60

Barrichello passes Alonso for 3rd.

Lap 25/60

Montoya looks to pass Schumacher.

But he hits the back of Kubica.

He's out of the race.

Petrov pits.

Lap 17/60

Lotterer pits.

Lap 16/60

Massa passes De La Rosa for 10th.

Dixon, Klien and Davidson pit.

Lap 15/60

Castro-Neves pits.

Lap 14/60

Vettel is out with an engine issue.

Barrichello is in for his second stop.

Lap 12/60

Massa and Maldonado pit.

Lap 9/60

Raikkonen pits from 5th. Senna also pits.

Lap 8/60

Raikkonen comes out behind Castro-Neves.

Dixon now looks to pass Raikkonen.

They touch and Dixon spins. Raikkonen stays 7th and Dixon stays 8th.

Lap 7/60

Alonso pits from 3rd. Kubica and De La Rosa also pit.

Lap 5/60

Webber pits from 4th.

Lap 4/60

Webber has lost out to both Castro-Neves and Raikkonen.

Lap 3/60

Button pits from 2nd and comes out in 6th behind Barrichello, Alonso, Castro-Neves and Raikkonen. Going long was the wrong stategy today.

Lap 2/60

Button uses his fresh rubber to pass Raikkonen for 5th.

Lap 0/60

Sato wins the 2005 European Grand Prix.

Barrichello finishes 2nd.

With Alonso keeping up his good form in 3rd.

Great drive from both drivers to pick up some decent points again.

Also interesting the top 5 drivers in the championship all drive for different teams!

Forza Ferrari! Great drive from Sato, nicely done. A win is all we wanted. Montoya on the other hand… A very amateurish performance. If he continues with his mistakes, he might need to look for another employer.

Points mean prizes, another point is a solid result, feel like more was left on the table though

Jacques Villeneuve Q15 - R-DNF
Season started well, but a poor quali and then causing a collision and not lasting the race is really poor.

Scott Dixon Q13 - R8
A point but disappointing, was leading Castroneves going into the last stops, he finished 4th, Dixie somehow got involved in a scramble and finished in 8th. Disappointing compared to what could have been

An unfortunate day for us. Nico's off & collision with Villeneuve sadly ended his race in disappointing way. On the other hand, Petrov finishes P16 on his last race outing for Jordan.

We're proud to welcome Heikki Kovalainen to Jordan as we wish Vitaly a very good luck in the future on his career.
