2005 Season Pre-Season Test #2 - Catalunya

Ferrari's Juan-Pablo Montoya came out on top in test session #2. It looks like Williams and Ferrari will be the teams to beat once more.

Ferrari

Great to see our drivers at the top of the standings, however we have to be vary of Williams and McLaren pulling out some hidden cards from their sleeves.

Minardi

Vettel is showing great pace, we hope to beat a few teams this season

Jordan

Rosberg's pace seems encouraging. We might be in fight between Minardi & Arrows again by the looks of it, so we'll hope for a better season.
McLaren

Some encouraging signs after a slightly slower showing in the first test

2005 Season Pre-Season Test #3 - Silverstone

Ferrari topped the timesheets again in the final pre-season test but it was Takuma Sato who topped the timesheets this time ahead of Kimi Raikkonen and Michael Schumacher. It was a good session for those running a race simulation with the track favouring the long runs.

McLaren

Some good pace again from Fernando, looks like we are going to battling for the best of the rest title this season

Renault

Good job by Rubens and Helio, both inside the top 10. We improved a lot in this pre-season

Jordan

Some great pace from Nico means good signs. Vitaly has slightly improved after a sloopy pace from previous two tests. Could see us battling against Arrows & Minardi again this season.
Ferrari

It’s Ferrari vs Williams all over again, with McLaren also being in the fight. Unless other teams, like Toyota and Renault surprise us, it’s the trio to beat. BTW now I saw how our TD performed. There is still a long way to go for him.

BAR

A mixed bag in testing, looking like we will be trying ti scrape points, JV or Dixon were ok, neither were on top form in the same session, interested to see how the season unfolds

Yamamoto doing his job, IE, being Japanese to keep Honda happy
Toyota

A very positive testing period for us but we'll have to see what Australia brings.

Minardi

Vettel has been doind a good job, we hope to be able to beat Jordan e Arrows when the season starts

Not the best of results. We hope last year’s Australian GP doesn’t repeat for us.

Jordan

A fantastic showing for Nico to put himself in 10th! On the other side, Vitaly had an awful pace and not a great qualifying he would've hoped for. Hopefully that changes in the race.
Renault

Both cars inside the top 10, Helio is still adapting to the car while Rubens is one of the top drivers of the grid, we are going to push for that podium

Practice looked great for Dixie and good effort from Sakon, Quali was disappointing, good to see JV in front but being outqualified by a minardi and a jordan is disappointing
2005 Australian Grand Prix

Lap 1

The 2005 Formula One season is underway!

Schumacher keeps his lead into turn 1 but Massa and Barrichello go past Raikkonen for 2nd and 3rd.

Lap 2

Let's take a look at the running order after lap 1.

Sato dives down the inside of Alonso for 8th.

Lap 3

Contact between Dixon and De La Rosa down the field. Both cars are undamaged and carry on.

Sebastian Vettel looks to make a move on Rosberg for 12th but is caught out by Jacques Villeneuve making a move on him. Great driving by the 1997 World Champion.

Lap 4

Helio Castro-Neves is powerless to stop Takuma Sato from overtaking into turn 1, Sato moves into 7th.

Lap 5

Contact between Castro-Neves and Alonso!

Castro-Neves carries through the gravel.

Alonso has stopped though, can he get the car going again?

The Renault rejoins in 21st.

Luckily Alonso was able to get himself out of the gravel and carries on, albeit in last.

Lap 7

A great move by Anthony Davidson to pass Petrov for 17th.

It goes from bad to worse for the Jordan driver as Lotterer runs into the back of him.

This causes him to spin and drop to the back.

Lap 8

Vettel takes 11th from Villeneuve.

It looks like Montoya has a problem!

An electronics problem ends his season opener.

Replays show that Montoya slowing down hindered Hamilton allowing Sato through!

Lap 13

Down the field, Alonso makes his way past Christian Klien's Sauber.

Robert Kubica runs into the back of Lotterer.

Lotterer ends up the gravel, dropping to last.

Whilst Kubica continues on.

Lap 15

A look at the running order after 15 laps.

Lap 19

A loose wheel ends Robert Kubica's race.

Lap 20

Felipe Massa pits from 2nd. Anthony Davidson also pits.

Lap 21

Vettel dives down the inside of Rosberg but pits at the end of the lap. Pedro De La Rosa is also in for his 1st stop.

Lap 22

Sato makes a move down the inside of Kimi Raikkonen for 3rd.

Lap 23

Sato, Hamilton, Glock and Senna pit.

Alonso passes Castro-Neves, this time without running into him.

Lap 24

The race leader Michael Schumacher pits. Lotterer also pits.

Lap 25

Rubens Barrichello pits as does Christian Klien.

Felipe Massa is being massively held up by the BAR of Scott Dixon.

He's finally through but has it cost him?

Lap 26

No! Barrichello comes out just behind the Toyota man.

Wait, there's smoke coming out of the back of Lotterer's Sauber. That's his race over.

Pastor Maldonado pits

Lap 28

Race leader Kimi Raikkonen is in for his stop. So are Nico Rosberg, Scott Dixon and Helio Castro-Neves

Lap 29

Villeneuve, Petrov and Alonso pit meaning everyone has now made 1 pitstop.

Lap 30

Villeneuve comes out of the pits just as Rosberg looks to make a move on Pedro De La Rosa.

A mistake from Rosberg drops him a few places.

Lap 31

A look at the running order as race leader Schumacher begins lap 31.

Lap 34

Some on-track action as Glock passes De La Rosa for 10th.

Lap 36

Barrichello in 3rd is all over the back of Felipe Massa's Toyota.

Lap 40

Rosberg runs into the back of Davidson. Clumsy from the Jordan driver.

Davidson drops to 16th.

Rosberg 17th.

Barrichello still hasn't found a way past Massa and Sato is catching them in the Ferrari.

Villeneuve and Maldonado pit.

Lap 41

Massa and Barrichello pit at the same time. Can Toyota keep Massa ahead?

No they can't!

Vettel, Castro-Neves and Glock also pit.

Lap 42

Michael Schumacher and Takuma Sato are in for their stops.

Sato is out ahead of Massa too!

Lap 43

Bruno Senna and Kimi Raikkonen pit.

Kimi Raikkonen has also leapfrogged Massa. Toyota and Massa have had a shocker!

Lap 44

De La Rosa pits.

Lap 45

Fernando Alonso is in for his second stop.

Lap 46

Scott Dixon pits from P7. Rosberg, Davidson, Klien and Petrov also pit.

Lap 47

Lewis Hamilton pits from 2nd, rejoining in 6th.

Lap 48

A look at the top 8 with everyone having stopped twice.

Lap 50

It's close between 2nd-5th but will anyone make an overtake in the final few laps?

Lap 54

Raikkonen looks to make a move on Sato for the final podium place but Sato closes the door.

Lap 55

Williams will be livid! Rosberg holds up Kimi Raikkonen as he chases down Sato!

Villeneuve pits with an electrical issue, he had been running 9th.

Lap 58

Michael Schumacher wins the 2005 Australian Grand Prix!

Rubens Barrichello is second in the Renault.

With Takuma Sato third in the Ferrari.
