McLaren

Yet another great drive from Fernando, who we firmly believe is still in the title hunt. Gutted for Trulli who was showing great race pace until yet another mechanical failure. Hoping the upcoming test session gives us a chance to rectify.

Felipe Massa signs extension with Toyota, McLaren and Sauber sign two drivers

Felipe Massa and Toyota have announced that they've come to an agreement on an extension for 2005 season. Earlier in the season Massa sensationally took the first win for Toyota in their F1 history and was leading the race in USA before he retired with a technical issue. Massa will bag 11 million next year from Toyota.

McLaren have announced that they've signed the Jordan test driver Timo Glock to be their #2 driver for 2005 season. The German signed for 4 million. They also announced they've signed Nelson Piquet Jr. to be their test driver for the upcoming season. Piquet's backers will bring 2 million for McLaren.

Sauber is the first team to finish up their driver lineup for 2005 season. Earlier they re-signed Christian Klien as their #1 driver and today they announced they've come into an agreement with Andre Lotterer to be their #2 driver for 2005. Sauber's and Lotterer's deal is for 500k. For next season's test driver position Sauber have signed the Czech driver Tomas Enge. They'll be paying 1 million for his services.

McLaren

Delighted to announce the signings of Timo Glock and Nelson Piquet for 2005. We've been impressed by Timos performances in practice this year, and Nelson is very much a star of the future, hopefully with us. The number 1 slot we hope to be decided within the next few races.

We really need to have a look at these failure rates

Toyota

A poor race for us but good news as we've extended our deal with Felipe. Felipe and Lewis will be our race drivers for 2005 with a test driver signing to come.

Jordan

Disappointingly close to a points finish. We can confirm that Kazuki Nakajima will be our driver no 2 next season with talks for our team leader and test driver on going.

Ferrari

Not the result we expected, if Sato doesn't bounce back, he should rather say goodbye to the title

Yeah, at the end of the season.
McLaren

Looking forward to the teams first test session of the year, in the aim of staying 3rd in the constructors title.

We will triumph again this year!

Qualifying had changing conditions.
McLaren

After a promising testing, we are in all sorts of problems at this race weekend. Alonso will need to pull something out the bag to continue his incredible scoring run, and for both cars to be behind both Toyotas we have a real fight for 3rd in the Constructors.

Toyota

A good start to the weekend, hopefully, we can have a trouble-free race.

Jordan

Not good.

2004 Hungarian Grand Prix

Welcome to recap of the 2004 Hungarian Grand Prix raced on the Hungaroring. It’s the 13th round of the 2004 season.

Lap #1
Takuma Sato still has the lead going into the first turn. Rubens Barrichello gets a good start and overtakes Juan-Pablo Montoya for the 3rd place at the end of the main straight.

Lap #2
Michael Schumacher overtakes Jarno Trulli for 7th place. Jenson Button spins and drops down to the last place.

Lap #3
Michael Schumacher continues his good start to the race by overtaking Mark Webber for 6th place.

Lap #4
Further back Christian Klien overtakes Nico Rosberg for 14th place.

Lap #5
Kimi Räikkönen is keeping close to Takuma Sato while other start to fall back a bit.

Lap #6
It’s the second time today that Trulli has to surrender to a Schumacher but this time it’s Ralf who overtakes him for 8th place.

Lap #7
Jenson Button has started his long climb back up the standings as he’s now 19th.

Lap #10
Fernando Alonso has had a nice start to the race as well as he’s now 9th after passing his team mate Jarno Trulli.

Kimi Räikkönen is still close to Takuma Sato but he can’t find a place for an overtake maneuver.

Lap #11
Ralf Schumacher overtakes Mark Webber for 7th place.

Lap #12
During the next lap Fernando Alonso overtakes Mark Webber too and Alonso is now 8th.

Lap #13
Nico Rosberg retires from the race with an engine failure.

Lap #15
Michael Schumacher tries a pass on Felipe Massa but he hits Massa’s Toyota. Massa continues the race in the 5th place but Schumacher spins and rejoins the track in the 14th place.

Kimi Räikkönen must be getting frustrated behind Takuma Sato. There’s basically one overtaking spot on the track at the end of the main straight but the Ferrari car is powerful enough to keep Räikkönen at bay.

Lap #16
Jenson Button has risen to 15th place after his second lap spin.

Lap #17
Nick Heidfeld, Fernando Alonso and Dan Wheldon pit.

Lap #18
Antonio Pizzonia, Michael Schumacher and Robert Kubica pit.

Lap #19
Christian Klien and Jenson Button pit.

Lap #20
Kimi Räikkönen is keeping the pressure high on Takuma Sato but so far he’s handling it well.

Lap #21
Kimi Räikkönen, Neel Jani and Heikki Kovalainen pit.

Lap #22
Ralf Schumacher, Felipe Massa and Kazuki Nakajima pit.

Lap #23
Juan-Pablo Montoya, Jarno Trulli and Paul di Resta pit. Christian Klien pit again too as he’s having a technical issue with his car.

Lap #24
Takuma Sato, Rubens Barrichello, Mark Webber and Vitaly Petrov pit.

Lap #26
Takuma Sato is still in the lead after the first round of pit stops. The only driver to lose places during the pits is Felipe Massa who’s now 7th.

Lap #30
Takuma Sato has been able to open up a bit of a gap to Kimi Räikkönen.

Lap #32
Fernando Alonso’s weekend is capped by a retirement after a transmission failure. He had a good race until this as he had already climbed all the way up to 5th place.

Lap #33
Michael Schumacher and Robert Kubica pit.

Lap #35
Takuma Sato continues increasing the gap between him and Kimi Räikkönen.

Dan Wheldon, Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia pit.

Lap #36
Jenson Button pits.

Lap #37
Christian Klien makes his third stop of the day.

Lap #40
Kimi Räikkönen has been able to squeeze a second off between him and Takuma Sato.

Lap #41
Jenson Button retires from the race with a water leak. It’s a fourth consecutive retirement for the Brit who’s not helping his chances of getting a seat for next season.

Lap #43
Juan-Pablo Montoya pits.

Lap #44
Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher pit.

Lap #45
Vitaly Petrov pits.

Lap #46
Dan Wheldon goes wide but he doesn’t lose any places.

Lap #47
Kimi Räikkönen and Mark Webber pit.

Lap #48
Takuma Sato, Paul di Resta and Neel Jani pit.

Lap #49
Kazuki Nakajima and Heikki Kovalainen pit.

Lap #50
Takuma Sato JUST keeps his lead after the pit stops but Kimi Räikkönen is piling on the pressure again. Can Sato keep a cool head unlike some other times this season?

Lap #51
Antonio Pizzonia pits.

Lap #53
Dan Wheldon pits.

Lap #54
Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica pit.

Lap #55
Michael Schumacher and Christian Klien pit.

Lap #56
Looks like Kimi Räikkönen doesn’t have what it takes to challenge Sato for the win today after all.

Lap #60
Takuma Sato keeps widening the gap in the lead.

Lap #65
The gap to Kimi Räikkönen has remained pretty much the same during the last five laps.

Lap #68
Felipe Massa has to pit from the 6th place with some kind of an issue with his car. The pit crew is able to fix it but disappointingly Massa returns to the track in the 9th place.

Lap #69
Felipe Massa gets the fastest lap and he might still catch Nick Heidfeld.

Lap #70
Takuma Sato takes the 5th win this season after starting from the pole. Kimi Räikkönen did everything he could to unsettle him but Sato prevailed in the end.

Kimi Räikkönen and Rubens Barrichello brought the two remaining podium spots to Williams. It was Williams’ best overall result since Canada.

Toyota

What the hell happened to Massa? Frustrating.

Jordan

Rubbish.

Ferrari

With Raikkonen having a DNF less, Sato might have to rely on luck to win the title. We are still happy with the results.

McLaren

Well that was a disaster from start to finish! Roll on Spa for hopefully better luck!
