Juan-Pablo Montoya stays at Ferrari, Toyota and Arrows sign test drivers
Juan-Pablo Montoya, who replaced Dario Franchitti at Ferrari after the Monaco race, has signed a deal to stay at Ferrari for 2005 season. The Columbian gets nice pay raise as it's reported Ferrari will be paying 21 million for his services next season. Despite missing the first six races of the season, Montoya is fourth in the championship with third place within possibility.
After earlier announcing Lewis Hamilton's promotion to race driver status for next season, Toyota has signed Nico Hulkenberg as their test driver to complete the 2005 lineup. Hulkenberg's salary will be 500k. Hulkenberg is another exciting prospect for the future who many teams will probably keep an eye out on. Arrows meanwhile announced the signing of Fairuz Fauzy as their test driver for 2005 season. Fauzy's backers will bring 2.5 million to Arrows' budget.

Fernando Alonso overtakes Kimi Räikkönen in the start. Takuma Sato and Felipe Massa also get past Rubens Barrichello. Williams’ speed is too much on the straights though and Räikkönen takes his lead back. Barrichello also overtakes Sato who is then overtaken by his team mate Juan-Pablo Montoya also.

McLaren retains Alonso, Jaguar announce new race drivers
McLaren has announced that Fernando Alonso has agreed to stay on the team for 2005 season. Alonso's new deal will bring him 15 million a year. Alonso has impressed in his McLaren car as he currently sits third in the driver's championship while his team mates have struggled throughout the season.
Jaguar have announced they won't be retaining the services of their two race drivers, Ralf Schumacher and Antonio Pizzonia, for 2005 season. Instead they have announced the signings of Pedro de la Rosa and Anthony Davidson as their #1 and #2 driver respectively. de la Rosa's deal is for 3 million and Davidson's deal is for 2 million.
Jordan have announced Nico Rosberg as their #1 driver for next season. The youngster makes the switch from Minardi to Jordan in hopes for a better car next year. Rosberg's deal is for 1 million.

Ferrari announces Sato extension, Jaguar signs di Resta as test driver and Vitaly Petrov stays with Jordan
Ferrari has today announced that Takuma Sato will be staying in Ferrari colors for next season too. Sato has been a revelation for Ferrari this season as he's been in the title picture the whole season and the only real challenger for Kimi Räikkönen. Sato's deal is for 23 million.
Jaguar also announced they've signed Jordan's driver Paul di Resta as their test driver for 2005 season. di Resta didn't do enough this season to secure a drive for next year as his best finish has been 10th. di Resta's deal is for 1 million.
Jordan also announced they'll keep Vitaly Petrov for 2005 season. The Russian has scored the only points for the team this season. Petrov will be Jordan's second driver and Kazuki Nakajima is pushed to test driver status. Petrov's deal brings 6.5 million to the team.
