CSM 1986 no configurables (missing)

HI everyone

I just downloaded the latest CSM 1986 mod from this site, but it seems to have a bug. At least I have this.
The installation of the CSM mod works without any errors, but when I switch to the "mod configurables" , everything ist missing. I can´t configure, select anything.
If I try to start the mod, I starts, but crashes with the first loading game.

Here are some screenshots:
Screenshots

I am using the latest versions of everything: CSM 1,26, TSM and GPXPATCH 4,52.

Does anyone have experience with this kind of problem. I seem to have it only with this mod, all my other mods (1988, 2001, 2006 or 2007) work like a charm (inkl. loading track packs.).

Looking forward hearing from you.
Thank you and
Sincerely
Steven

i have the same problem and i think it's because the globalvars.ini is missing for the mod

Is there any way to fix this?
THis mod with his updates in this forum is very nice.
Some.people used this mod (youtube videos) ...so there must be some solution.

The empty "mod configurables" menu is indeed caused by a missing globalvars ini file. That is not a failure to be fixed but intentionally done by the modders.
I can't reproduce the crash.

Note: the 1986 mod defines it's track set using GPxPatch. It does not work with a TSM profile.
If you want to try some changes, edit the swap ini file. Example:
File1	=swap\#f1graphics.cfg,f1graphics.cfg
File2	=swap\#f1gstate.sav,f1gstate.sav
will deactivate the mods f1graphics.cfg an f1gstate.sav and use your own instead.

Thank you for your reply and support.Sorry to hear that this MODE can’t be used as a normal cms with TSM tracks mode.
So many people worked on updates, I just see a lost potential here.

It would have been so great to play this mode like the other vintage mods ex. 1988. I am a very big fan of the 1988 mod, and I was hoping to play the 1986 under the same circumstances to. But that’s how it is. Unfortunately I can’t create or develope mods myself otherwise I would try to upgrade it myself.(H)

I play GP4 since 2002, quite a long time but Still I am happy still finding people these days that are still active on this game ( considering that most of the GP4 sites and forums disappear lately on the internet, unfortunately).
Grand Prix 4 is the best PC F1 configurable game ever made , in my opinion...

So....

CHEERS TO ALL GP4 still active gamers out there.
Keep in touch and that again.

BEST REGARDS
Gigi88

Because the original 1986 mod does not work with TSM this does not mean you can't get it to do so with a few changes. In the thread Cars setup for 1986 Turbo mod JCaranti has already pointed this out in 2009.

1986 mod using TSM

1) In the swap ini file deactivate the circuits like
[SwapFolder]
...
Folder5		=gpxpatch\pnl\visor,gpxpdata\pnl\visor
;Folder6	=ldata,ldata
;Folder7	=Tracks\Circuits,Circuits
Deactivating the str menu files from ldata is necessary to avoid the nasty "corrupted language file" message from tsmcore.

2) Generate you own TSM profile "1986.ini". Most of the 1988 tracks will fit in here and the Monaco 1982, Spa 1979, Brands Hatch 1980 and the Oesterreichring 1981. Tell the mod to use it with the "list" specification in the "mods configurables" menu.

This should do it, but actually I encountered a problem with the Jacarepagua track, that did not work with the 1986 mod (though it does with other mods). At first I had no clue why and as a workaround I replaced it with the Interlagos 1980. Then I discovered that GPxPatch did not run in debug mode. Checking "Enable debug mode" was enough to make the Jacarepagua track run.

A basic CSM menu

It would now be comfortable to have at least a track selection in the CSM menu to use the "load only one track" option.
Create a "globalvars.ini" file in the mods Settings folder with the following content:
[Vars]
; Track stuff
trackname		=
tracknum		=
racenum			=
loadtracks=one

[trackname]
Allowchange		=1
Name			=1986 Grand Prix of . . .

Then in the mods main folder add two sections to the "1986.csm":
...
[F1gstate]
Track 				=%racenum%
...
[TSM]
LoadOnlyTrack			=%loadtracks%,%racenum%

As you see improving the mod is not that difficult.
