GPGSL S14 - R14 British GP - Silverstone

Posted by GPGSL
Despite not my fault, an awful first part of the race after a promising qualify.

Not very optimist for the remaining race....

This game is @#$%& kidding with me, an engine blowing up in the second lap? Its a joke, a joke.

If you go for a gap that no longer exists you are either Pastor Maldonado or our Lord and Saviour Mahaveer Ragunathan...
A pretty decent race so far.

Wow I didn’t realise Pedersen was taking such a backwards step in his career.

We have pace but we don't have luck if we fighting for podium:

Melbourne: My suspension dead after 5 laps driving 3rd
Interlagos: Jeroen's engine blown just before the end driving 2nd
Montreal: Vitor's engine blown after 2 laps driving 2nd

But these things happen in motorsport..

Race Driver #19

Not a very promising race for me. The boost does nothing here

A tragedy. :(

GPGSL-4: testdrivers champion in Season 11!
Welcome back,

We pick up the coverage, with Rodriguez who has pitted, running in 9th spot, behind O'Neill who is yet to pit....

Business is picking up in pit lane....

Russell heading back out into the action....

Russell finds himself exit, right into a battle with Hinz....

Vilela in 20th, way down the running after the earlier dramas....

Scala some 10 seconds behind Pedersen, who is about to pit....

The MAC team go to work....

Pedersen emerges from the pits, just behind Kederer who is yet to pit. We also notice yellow flags again, back at the chicane....

It's O'Neill. The camera lens has rain on it, has the Irishman spun in a slippery part of the track...?

Replays show he was battline with Rodriguez, who was on fresh rubber...

The MTP driver avoids trouble, whilst O'Neill hits the curbing, and spins...

The Alpha doesnt hit anything....

But, he has to sit and wait for a clear bit of traffic to rejoin...

O'Neill has no other option, just to sit and wait for a gap to appear....

He waits....

And waits....

And waits, as race leader Matteo Scala passes by, but - a safety marshal is already pushing the Alpha out of the way...

Confirmation on the screen, with O'Neill out of the race....

Scala leads Karda, who are both yet to pit..

From the rear end of the field, Hinz has Russell closing up on him....

Russell has a big brake lockup as he tries to avoid hitting the AMR....

Hinz goes off track, across the curbs, and keeps going. Russell on the other hand...

Russell finds himself facing backwards....

We once again see the two Christels running together, in what has been an eventful race for them both...

Sakata right behind his team mate now....

Scala heads to pit lane....

As Karda continues, and sees himself in 1st place...

Pit lane is lighting up with cars set to head in....

Pedersen back to 1st spot, as Karda heads in for new rubber and a splash of fuel....

Gilson takes his stop, with the SCR crew doing their best....

Karda has gone ahead of Scala during the pit cycle....

Karda leads Scala, and McClure close behind....

Christopher Hinz, currently running dead last....

Meanhwile out front, it is Pedersen with a 7 second lead over Rodriguez....

The gap is slightly increasing from 1st to 2nd....

Karda in 3rd, has Scala just within sight behind him....

If you squint hard enough, Kederer can be seen ahead of De Bruyker....

Greidanus in 10th, with Elleker close behind....

Greidanus, Elleker, Gilson, Buitenhuis, Parachki and Silva all within sight....

And then the two Christels spread out a bit towards the rear of the field...

Out front though, it is smooth sailing for MAC's Michael Pedersen...

Rodriguez in 2nd...

Karda in 3rd....

McClure in 5th....

Kederer in 6th....

De Bruyker in 7th....

Bouchard in 8th, a great day so far for Atlantic!...

Majumadar in 9th....

Griedanus in 10th....

Elleker in 11th...

Gilson in 12th, and the final point to be awarded....

Buitenhuis in 13th....

Parachki in 14th....

Silva in 15th....

Russell in 16th....

Sakata in 17th....

Hinz in 18th....

Vilela in 19th....

Gilson makes a move on Greidanus....

Greidanus runs wide into the gravel, giving Buitenhuis a chance behind him...

The MMM driver looks to the inside of the MAC....

Greidanus holds off Buitenhuis, but this is now a 4 car battle....

Time now to have a quick look through the field again.... Positions 1-8....

Positions 9-16....

Positions 17-22....

In a great day for Karda, and the Atlantic team, the Czech driver holds down 3rd place with just a handful of laps to go....

4 laps remaining, the top 8 drivers all spread out with no real battles to speak of....

Parachki has his hands full though, with Silva harrassing hime with a handful of laps remaining...

Kederer is closing in on McClure with every lap.....

The Alpha driver is giving everything he can, to catch McClure....

The Brit can see Kederer in his mirrors as they exit the hairpin, with the long run up to the final chicane....

Meanwhile, final lap underway by our race leader....

McClure still holding off the challenge from Kederer....

Pedersen making his way up the back straight for the final time, as Rodriguez can be seen in the background, going around the hairpin turn....

And it is the win to Michael Pedersen, in a flag to flag domination here in Montreal....

The RD then notices yellow flags back at the hairpin. What is going on there, quick change the camera....

It's Scala going off track!!!!

The MTP is deep into the gravel....

Transmission failure for the Italian, with just half a lap to go. Absolute tragedy....

Kederer closes right up under the rear of Ecurie Mistral of McClure....

At that moment, Rodriguez crosses the line to finish 2nd....

Karda with a fantastic 3rd place....

Then it is McClure in 4th, holding off the charge from Kederer who finishes 5th. De Bruyker will come home 6th....

Tobias Kederer brings the Alpha home in 5th....

Points leader Marcus De Bruyker comes home in 6th, greatly assisting his title hunt....

And we sign off from Montreal, congratulation the MAC Racing team, and Michael Pedersen on a dominant weekend on track.....

I will take that podium, super chuffed with that result!

However, as it's been the norm for our team this season, misfortune hits the other car. Bummed.

Still a few races to correct these problems, and if this race was any indication we're not that far off. Pace was great in both cars.

Demon Racing post Montreal race Press Release, and Season 15 Driver Announcement

We are deeply gutted with the unfortunate incident triggered by Rodrigo Vilela's attempted overtake, early in the race. The racing gods simply were not on our side today. Gareth got swept up in the carnage, ruining his day. Sh1t happens, sadly. Sadly we lost the chance as a team, to potentially have scored a strong points finish for both cars here in Montreal.
There is no blame attributed to Rodrigo re the incident, as we fully encourage our drivers to go for it! If the driver doesn't go for a gap, well.....

Team boss Mr Sheppard was heard screaming and hurling obscenities as the incident unfolded, but the reality of the situation, and several views of the replay prior to race end, calmed the anger before speaking to Rodrigo over a cold beer post race.

It was over this cold beer, a decision was made and confirmed.

Rodrigo Vilela will no longer drive for Demon Racing, as of the conclusion of this current season. We encourage all other teams looking for a gun driver, to think no further than Rodrigo, a loyal and talented driver with a long history in GPGSL.
A formal thank you to Rodrigo will come later in the season.

Taking the place of Rodrigo as of Season 15, will be newly signed driver Michael Pedersen, fresh off a dominant display here in Canada.

So, our race driver lineup in Season 15 will consist of Gareth McCarthy and Michael Pedersen
Our test seats have a vacancy for any keen/willing drivers, whilst team boss Glen Sheppard will fill the 2nd seat.

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
That's another pretty crap result for Slow Car Racing. :-)
