GPGPSL Season 14 Round 6 - Race, Emmeloord. Part 3

We are at the Emmeloord Circuit for the final part of the race report. McClure has stopped for the fuel and tyres:

He goes out while Luke Russell tries to overtake Rodriguez:

Chrisel driver got surely disturbed by the Mistral car and Rodriguez stays ahead:

We have a group of 5 cars packed up closely together. It is Rodriguez, Russell, McClure, Buitenhuis and Parachki:

5h place for Tobias Kederer is quite an achievement, keeping in mind that he has started from 21th place and his car is not assisted by any boosts at all for this weekend. My personal 'Driver of the day' vote surely goes to him so far:

De Bruyker has closed the gap and going for attack already:

He takes the inside line for the final corner...

And the P1 goes to him!

But Scala has the straight to answer:

And he is getting ahead in the first corner!

Seems like the race win is going to be deceided between these two:

De Bryuker sets for a move into the 5th corner:

And gets it done:

MTP car of Scala is nervous at the enter of the next corner:

And he falls too much down behind, so he cannot counter-attack at the straight anymore:

It is still very close between Russell, Buitenhuis and Parachki. Seems like Rodriguez and McClure ahead them has managed to build a gap:

They're side-by-side:

But the order stays the same:

McClure overtakes Rodriguez at the 5th turn for P8:

But the MTP driver regained the spot at the straight:

Behind them McCrathy has moved up to 12th:

It looks like the MAC drivers are getting closer to Kederer with every lap:

McClure gets ahead of Rodriguez as we are looking at the current standings:

Pedersen tries to overtake Kederer at the 5th corner:

And he moves ahead of the German driver:

Kederer doesn't surrender just yet:

He goes for an attack on the straight:

But Pedersen manages to stay ahead:

Kederer's car slips into the grass as he tries too much to match the boost-assisted MAC cars with the better handling:

And he slams into the wall damaging the car. Well, that 'Driver of the day' note might've been too early to award:

Now the MAC drivers are left to decide who of them is faster:

Greidanus shows it clearly that he won't just stay behind his teammate:

One lap forward and they are batteling in the last corner again:

But the Dutchman loses too much speed on the straight it seems:

De Bryuker leads the race comfortably as the gap can be visually seen on the screen:

It is much closer between Silva and Gustavo for the third place:

Greidanus tries again on the straight:

But his teammate defends superbly:

Gustavo is trying a move on Silva on the straight:

...and goes through:

Silva is slightly late on braking and touches the back of the MMM car:

He manages to stay on the track but loses some time and Gustavo builds a gap:

This is close again two MACs ito the 1st corner but no overtake again:

While Parachki gets ahead of the Russell in turn 1 for P10:

The constant battle between the MAC drivers has helped McClure to close the gap:

Gilson and McCarthy are fighting for P13 only right now. Karda is currently ahead of them and O'Neill is behind:

Five laps remaining and it the Mistral cars are the only ones who lost positions compared to their starting ones:

McClure still have time to improve as he currently sits right behind the batteling MACs. This graphics gives 5th to Greidanus but don't get fooled by that as he loses the spot on the straight before even crossing the line:

But he still tries to work something out:

His constant attacking moves let him down as he falls back too much behind his teammate chosing the wrong line and McClure tries to get by. Rodriges can be seen on the background not so far behind:

McClure continues to push on the straight:

...but the car simply has not enough speed to make it happen:

Four cars are all the participants in the ongoing battle for the 5th place:

And Greidanus loses it!

By a pure luck his car didn't hit anyone, but he rejoins only 15th:

With the 3 laps to go we have Gilson who challenges Karda for the 11th place:

And he wins the position after the long side-by-side run on the straight:

Reply shows what has happened between McClure and Pedersen while we were watching the battle for the 11th:

The Brittish driver has tried his move deep down into the breaking zone:

...and succeeded in getting ahead:

Two laps remaining with De Bryuker still in the lead:

Final lap and it looks like nobody has any real chances to improve their positions:

Marshalls are running out to celebrate the victory of De Bryuker:

And he crosses the line winning his 3rd race this season! Ecxellent drive from him today:

Scala finishes second, ending his bad luck this season:

And Gustavo is third. This is the first podium for the Brazilian driver in his GPGSL career:

I hope you enjoyed it and that's all, everyone! See you soon!

Too bad to lost 3rd place in the final laps.

Good points for the team with 4th and 5th places, nevertheless...

Yes, we did it... thx to the team for the great work and setting the car in winner mode.

Great points for the team and myself, and a very nice ' ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਅਰਿਤਰ ' for my teammate's peptalk in the pits before the race, it helped.

Very nice and clean coverage, thx for that and I will see you all in Dubai, gentlemen.

Grtz from Belgium and keep yourselfs and family safe !

Marcus

Not really. Dom finished 12th and that's one point. He also must be awarded with another point for most positions gained. A real shame for Edward Williams who had a good race until the car failed. He could've finished 5th-7th.

From the RD point of view I feel bad for both Tobi and Ruben who had a very good race but then the mistakes happened. Both times I was like "WHAT THE HEEEEEEEL?" and could not believe it when it happened. Also it is very strange that the early stop on this circuit works this way because normally the cars that stays on track with less fuel can win more time than the ones who pitted and went out with the heavy load, and their pit-stop itself is slightly shorter with less fuel to fill the car until the end of the race. But at Emmeloord it works the other way somehow.

Also I'm surprised with how Luke Russel managed to finish only 10th with both drivers boost and +8bhp boost to the engine.

No points today for the team. Bad luck for Toby with the accident. The boost assisted MAC cars were too much for Toby's car.

What a pity that Matteo couldn't quite cling to it but heck, I'll so take 2nd and 7th after the horrendous FP. Really well done Matteo and Carlos. That's exactly what we needed.

Not bad to leave Emmeloord in 5th. My pace looked good so far at the last few laps. Some good points for the team :-)

Definitely a great race and a few points in the bag. Might have been a better race, but I shouldn’t complain. Onto the next race, this time without a boost

Lucky to get a few points here with a car that was only fast enough to hold position for most of the race.

Not a bad comeback, I will take the points finish. Sorry to Ed, as he looked like he had a good race going on. :(

Marcus is unstoppable this season... I wonder how long it'll last?

Fantastic result for the team. Not using a team boost seems to have worked out for us just like it did in Japan, though we can't forget that De Bruyker had a driver boost to use which more than made up for the lack of a team boost. Now to regroup and put our focus into the next round.
