GPGSL Rd 5 Italian GP – Tester’s Free PracticeHello and welcome to Monza, the venue for Rd 5 of the GPGSL. First up for the weekend is the free practice for the test drivers, so let’s head trackside as they prepare to get underway.
Weather ReportMcGregor gets the session underway as the first driver out.
And as such he sets the first fastest time of the session.
Cronin is able to go faster than the MAC Racing boss.
Soutsen sets his time and slots in between the two.
Michail goes faster and demotes Soutsen down a position, as does Cremasco.
It’s 5th place for Beggani.
A good lap from Copeman sees him take 3rd.
Szucs in the second MMM manages to go fastest.
Warrington puts his SCR into 7th.
Houston sets his time, and it’s good enough to put him in 5th.
Maverick just barely makes it into the top 10.
There’s nothing in it as Hollidge sets his time to go 2nd fastest.
Stoddart sets his time, but it’s not enough for him to make it into the top 10.
O’Brien in the second Tyrant sets a fantastic laptime to go fastest in the session so far.
Ingers comes across the line and puts himself inside the top 10.
Not the best lap for Karda as he ends his lap close to a second off the fastest time.
The Alpha of Keranen comes across the line and slots into 9th.
Greenhalgh sets his time and slots into 12th, which then becomes 13th after Savio crosses the line to set his laptime.
Sheppard puts in a really good lap to put himself inside the top 5.
Russell won’t be too pleased with his lap which sees him down in 16th.
It’s 20th for Calligaris.
We have some contact made between Cremasco and Hollidge.
An improvement for Soutsen sees him move up to 8th.
The session just isn’t going so well for MAC Racing. McGregor improves on his previous time but is unable to move up from 20th.
Copeman improves and stays inside the top 10.
Beggani improves and moves up to 14th.
Maverick improves on his time which puts him into 12th.
Houston improves and puts his Demon into 7th.
Greenhalgh improves and just misses out on being in the points.
Calligaris improves and moves up into 10th. Maybe there is some hope for MAC Racing this weekend after all.
O’Brien improves his time, though it’s still really close between 1st and 2nd.
No movement for Stoddart even after improving on his time.
Ingers is now up to 7th with an improvement on his previous time.
Karda improves on his previous time, but doesn’t move up from 22nd.
Russell will surely be pleased with this time as it’s enough to move him up into the top 5.
With all runs now completed here are the final standings.
Congratulations Greg O’Brien and Tyrant Motorsports, our Rd 5 Tester’s Free Practice winner. Is this a sign of what’s to come in the upcoming sessions for the race drivers? Only time will tell.
