Round 3 - Malysian GP - Race Day

Welcome back everyone, we are here in Sepang ready for another sessions of the GPGSL, after the FP and Qualy were run under heavy rain, today we can only expect a hot and clear day.

Championship Leader Marcus De Bruyker sits on pole today, with MTP's Carlos Rodriguez alongside him in the first row

And away we go, great start by McClure, he overtakes Rodriguez and is looking to attack de Bruyker

McClure is trying to take the lead in the first corner, McCarthy also seems to be having a great start

And McClure takes first place

Rodriguez is also looking for a oportunity to overtake De Bruyker

And he made it, De Bruyker goes from 1st to 3rd in one corner

Both cars of MMM are in good positions at the moment

McCarthy also goes for the overtake on De Bruyker

But this time the former champion manages to stay ahead

Buitenhuis and Gustavo are going at each other, team boss Cremasco will not like if they touch here

Their fight allows Elleker to close on Buitenhuis

And he makes the move

Not seem by the cameras, but Buitenhuis lost another position to Gilson, while Elleker and Gustavo both managed to overtake Karda

Wilva will be looking to also overtake Buitenhuis

Both MAC's in 20th and 21st, not the sight that McGregor would like to see in the first lap

In last place we have Williams of Team Atlantic

Kederer and Vilela fight for a position, and the Brazilian seens to have won the battle

McCarthy once agin tries an overtake on De Bruyker

And succeeds this time

Buitenhuis overtakes Gilson to take one position back

While in the back Pedersen has overtook Greidanus

Which allows Williams to also overtake Greidanus

Russell goes for a move on Parachki

And manages tthe overtake

Majumdar overtakes Vilela, which means that the cameras failed to capture Kederer's overtake on the Brazilian

Williams also overtakes Pedersen, and with both MACs out of his way, he has another goal on O'Neill

Majumdar gets really close to Kederer, and Sakata tries a move on Vilela, which makes the Brazilian to lock his tyre

And the Japanese succeeds on getting ahead

We have a marshall with a green flag and a slow AMR in the track, something must have happened

Replay shows that Elleker, who was running in 7th, lost control of his car and went wide

He went straight to the gravel

And managed to returns in 17th place, just ahead of Sakata and Vilela

But not for long, Sakata already is in front of him, and Vilela is trying an overtake at this moment, in the back we can see Williams trying a move on O'Neill

Vilela can't overtake Elleker

While Williams make a great pass on O'Neill, and Pedersen may try to take advantage f the situation

His team-mate Greidanus is in the pits though, and an Electrical problem seems to be the reason, a race to forget by MAC so far

Kederer is already close to Scala

Vitor Gustavo is looking for a chance to overtake Hinz

Gilson being attacked by Silva

And the Portuguese manages to get ahead

Meanwhile McCarthy is also going for a move on Rodriguez, this is a fight for the 2nd place

And away he goes

Rodriguez couldn't keep the DMR behind him after all

Hinz seems to be holding up Gustavo, as both Karda and Buitenhuis are getting close of them

Gustavo tries a bold overtake

But Hinz uses his years of experience to keep Gustavo behind

The MMM boy tries once again, this time at the end of the lap

And manages the overtake

Kardar tries to take advantage of the situation

Elleker is trying to gain some ground and goes for a move on Sakata

He manages, to hit 16th place

De Bruyker gets close to Rodriguez, we may have a fight for that last position on the podium

Gilson and Silva are once again in their own battle for the 9th place

And once again the Portuguese wins the battle

Kederer overtakes Parachki and is inside the points for the first time, great job by the reigning champion

Scala gets overtaken by Majumdar

And Sakata by Vilela

Another lap and another fight between those two

Silva gets ahead once again

Elleker's engines blows up right in front of Vilela

A race to forget for Elleker

Meanwhile, AMR's last hope Hinz is getting overtake by Karda

They are side by side

And Hinz manages to stay ahead

McCarthy had reached race leader McClure

He tries a move

Side by side in the end of the straight

And we have a new race leader, Gareth McCarthy of Demon Racing

Hinz is being pushed by Karda

And looses the 6th place

Kederer is going for a move on Russell

And he goes away

The pit stops are taking place, with McClure and McCarth being the first cars to stop

Kederer has another victim in sight, fellow former champion Joseph Gilson

Side by side

And Gilson stays ahead

Buitenhuis tries a move on Hinz

And is through

After all the stops are made, here is the current standings

Rodriguez is starting his pursuit for 2nd place

While Kederer is right behind Paulo Silva

He goes for the overtake

And is through

Rodriguez tries a move on McClure

Sie by side for 2nd place

And Rodriguez takes 2nd place

Silva seems to have taken his position back

Bruyker tries a move on McClure

But they were too close of each other, contac is made

Both drivers managed to recover, and McClure stays ahead

But not for too long as De Bruyker tries a move in the end of the lap

And he succeeds to take the last podium place

McClure won't give up so easily

And he takes the 3rd place back

Majumdar overtakes Russell

Parachki is on a weird 20th place

Replay shows that he went out on his own

Kederer overtakes Silva

While De Bruyker overtakes McClure once again

Majumdar and Scala are side by side, but a little too close

Majumdar gets ahead

Vilela is in the gravel

Replay shows Scala closing the door on the Brazilian

Contact is made, and Vilela goes out of the track

He returns in last place

Sakata overtakes Williams

While Buitenhuis is trying a move on Silva

And he is through

Here is how the top 10 has done so far, great job by Kederer who climbed 7 places since the start of the race

Karda is in attacking position

But Gustavo closes the door

This allows Hinz to get close of them

Gilson and Silva are on each other once again

And Gilson gets ahead of the Portuguese

Karda is trying a move on Gustavo

But the Brazilian closes the door once again

He tries one more time, this time in the main straight

And is through

Hinz is also on a goos position for a overtake

They enter the last lap and Hinz tries the move

Gustavo stays ahead

McCarthy finishes the race in 1st place, the second victory of his career, congratulations

Rodriguez in second

And De Bruyker in 3rd

And after all Gustavo has managed to hold Hinz in the last lap

Final results

Great result in the free practice, I'm looking for a strong season so in the next one I can be a main driver :-)

Christopher did great, a shame to what has happened to Jack :(

Must've anticipated it being a wet race which led to the wrong car setup being used. Not sure what else would explain why De Bruyker would go from pole back to 4th within the space of a lap. He did a fantastic job to keep it inside the top 4 at least and we are pleased that he was able to make it onto the podium. And a great drive from Majumdar as well despite missing out on a points finish by one position.

I'm letting everyone know that I'm planning on taking on RD duty for the next round provided I don't have any major issues with the mods.

That was one of the worst races in MAC history.

On another note, during the quite period I was working on a concept for an updated GPGSL logo. Below are a few ideas. What do you think?

Wow!!!! Great job Gareth! I knew the break between Qual and Race, and those extra hours of strategising, planning and spying on others, would pay dividends.
At the other end of the spectrum, Rodrigo just couldn't catch a break, stuck in the deep midfield, then taken out by Scala......not happy with that.

On to Fuji it is we go.

Race wasn't too bad for me, but we didn't have the pace to move any further up the field. Maybe we can improve in Fuji.

Last logo is the best.

What a disgrace of a race. If this shitty form will continue it will be surely my last season for MAC.

Well, both cars in the points and that's good for a change...

Amazing start from Daly, to bad he missed a much deserved podium in the end.

Nevertheless, a good improvement this season comparing with the last one...
