Installing Different Mods Into The Game

Hi Guys,

I have just downloaded the game from the database thread on this site and have it running.

Can someone please point me in the right direction of how I would go about installing mods like the GPGSL and different F1 championship years in to the game.

Just a warning, I am starting from absolute zero so I know nothing at all about modding.

If someone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.

Thanks

So I followed this and installed everything but unfortunately when I click start it just loads a black screen however I can still see the mouse arrow? Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?

Is the game running fine without CSM, i.e. started via gpxpatch?

OS, and install paths of both ZazTools and GP4?

Yep, original game runs fine, it just when I try to load a mod that I get the black screen.

What do you mean by OS, and install paths?

Thanks

Install gp4 and csm on a drive where windows is not installed.

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?

OS = Operating system

Paths = directories where you installed Zaz/GP4, i.e. C:\...

Can be on the same drive as Windows if you've only one HDD, but shouldn't be in the default programs folders.

I have installed the game and Zac tools to an external hard drive. Is that an issue?

I downloaded the full game from the database on this site but I didn’t have to install it. I just open it and it plays. Is that normal?

If you downloaded the pre-patched version from GP4Central, then yes, it's normal that you don't have to install it. [www.gp4central.com]

You can also try the iso, which you'd have to install. Then the patch 9.6, no_cd.exe, and gpxpatch.

So Zaz Tools are in the c drive and GP4 is in a folder on the desk top. I have turned the firewall off. I’m not sure what else to do?

Have you linked ZAZ/CSM to the correct GP4.exe ? Might be you're still pointing to the one on the external drive.
Also, Zaz Tools must be in a different folder than Programs (ie: C:\ZAZ)
