SEASON 6 - ROUND 2, ITALY - Qualifying
Let's have a look at the results of a close qualifying session here in Monza...
"The fallen giants, Surtees and Lec, really aren't having a good time here in Italy. Both of their second drivers line up on the back row"
"Another disappoing session for Drake Fields, nine places behind his teammate. It doesn't look like Ottaviano Nervi managed to take advantage of the Ferrari upgrade, he is only 19th"
"The other Surtees of Melvin Victors also quite low on the grid, only three thousandths of a second slower than Nicolás Alvarez"
"The underpowered Cosworth engine of Lec really hindered them here, even Sergeant could only achieve 16th place. Meanwhile it looks like Mercedes' survival instinct kicked in, they show some real improvement."
"No one really knows where this sudden performance comes from for Mercedes,a great session for Weiss as he managed to qualify 13th ahead of Bill Adair."
"Unlike her teammate Farina seems to have made the most of the engine upgrade as she lines up 12th alongside Parker Hooper, who starts 11th for the second time in a row.
"The fifth row belongs to Team Vaillante as Durand and Hawk line up just outside the points, hoping to equal their double points finish in Silverstone"
"Maki is 8th, and it doesn't really look like he has what it takes to challenge for the title this season. Padovano had some technical issues and could only complete one timed lap (instead of the usual two), he is only 7th a good opportunity for his rivals to catch up."
"A much better performance than last time for De Tomaso, Paget starts within the points scoring positions this time. Kuang Started fifth on the grid in Britain, finished the race in fifth, and he is fifth again today, we think we see a pattern emerging here..."
