Questions about the AI tyre behaviour and strategy

Im asking the GP4 pros what's the default AI attitude towards the tyre strategy. Do they swap from Soft to Hard during the pit-stop change? What desc at the Magic Data determines which compound is used by CC cars? I've found this message, but I can't understand what desc is that:
Also, according to post of SDI:
Desc 96-101 are for the tyre wear for different compounds. They are like always the same on every track, while it can be used to simulate the realistic tyre wear for the modern Pirellis.
Moreover, I didn't find any info on how I can see the what compound is currently being set by a car - i.e Hard, Medium or Soft. I know it can be seen at the laps.log, but I'd rather like to see it ingame somehow with a GPxPatch info panel maybe - if possible?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but regulations for tyres are hard coded in GP4, meaning there are only 2 dry compounds (soft and hard) and the compound that is chosen in qualification must be used in the whole race, no switching of compounds. Anything else is just cosmetic imo.

Does the AI even look at their tyre wear? Like they will come in for new and fresh tyres, or do they only look at their fuel level?

Fuel only. Look here at the tyre wear/cc shuffler explanation:
To be precise - they dont look at the fuel either, they just follow the shedule as it is set in the Magic Data. If you have the too high fuel consumption md value, you'll get them running out of fuel and retire eventually

Ah I see, thanks. You say that they follow the schedule, the set pit windows, but if you increase the fuel consumption dont they just going to carry more fuel to make sure they can reach their scheduled stops?

No. The track Magic Data contains separate values for:

1) the amount of fuel added in the tank at the start of a stint, and also
2) the fuel consumption rate.

It is the job of the Magic Data author to make sure those 2 are roughly aligned so that the car consumes fuel at the correct rate.

As an example, modern F1 cars have a lower fuel consumption thanks to the hybrid formula, so they need less fuel to begin with, so you would lower both values to represent that.

The opposite is, say, the 1980s turbo era where the fuel consumption was huge and so the cars had 200+ liter fuel tanks. In Magic Data you would represent that by raising both these values. You would then experience a large swing in performance as you burnt fuel off lap after lap since the car would go from very heavy to very light over the course of a stint.

Thanks for the info! I should look more into MD files, they’re pretty interesting.

Speaking of tyres - I think we could kind of emulate the different compounds with adjusting a slightly better grip but a higher tyre wear to emulate soft ones if SDI could make it car-dependable at the perfs.
I know the drivers still will use the one type of compound throughout the race, as it seems, but still.

If you want to have shorter races but still have pitstops try this:

Rather than reducing the race distance using the in-game race options, edit the settings.ini file to reduce the number of laps for a 100% distance instead. Then, in the Magic Data, edit the pit strategy (lines 104-127) to map the pit strategies to the new lap count.
