Hi all

Apols for the noobie question but can someone please help - can you please signpost me to either a full track set for the 1982 season I can download or if not a full set at least some tracks? If 1982 doesn't exist I'd be happy with any from 1979 - 1981 ?

Many thanks

Ok, trackpack is ready and was send to the ones who were interested via PM. For others - it's just all the same known tracks (taken from 88's trackpack mainly) w/o any texture changes and with some minor MD tweaks (like corrected number of laps, no pit-stops, reduced AI errors and stuff like that). I have plans doing a better one with setting the correct cameras, cc-line tweaks, changing textures and stuff, but it won't be finished until new year in the very best case (probably it will take like 2-4 months longer).

But anyway, frankly saying simulating a 1982 season right now is not really possible, since the original perf files for the 82 mod are way far from being perfect with the failures rate being way too high and all the track-specific perf files dont really reflecting the actual race results for that season. My main goal right now is focusing on altering the perfs for that mod. But it will take another 14-18 days at least to do these, since I have to watch the actual footage of the each race to figure out what perfs should look like (for now I have watched the first four races btw - and it was a huge joy really ).

Thanks. 1982 is a real classic, despite the deaths of Villeneuve and Paletti.

Yep, I love watching these races, btw it seems like people underestimating Rosberg's quality. He was amazingly competative with his DFV powered Williams against the turbo-charged Renaults, Ferraries and Brabhams. Yeah, those were more vunerable and therefore their driver suffered a lot of DNFs, but even with them on the track he was still doing really really good. Maybe early Reutemann's retirement helped him a lot in winning the crown, since I believe that Carlos could take some of these points as well). John Watson is also my hero for that season, I just love his persona (he's my fav F1 commentator) and seeing him driving that well makes me love him even more. Alboreto behind the wheel of the mediorce Tyrrell was doing constantly good as well. These are my main heroes for that season after watching 1st 5 races (btw Imola was kind of entertaining as well with the battle for the lead between Ferraris and Arnoux while he was moving - if only I was able to find a BBC coverage of that race it would be even better to watch).

But yeah, the safety standarts were very low for that season. Pironi had a nasty career-ending crash and Marc Surer broke his feet at the testings before the season. The safety crew trucks riding in the middle of the road during the Long Beach GP is from the same category:
