Jalving claims pole in Austria!
It's pole position for Charrel at the Österreichring! The only driver to break the 1:26 barrier on a drying track.

"I'm really satisfied with our result in qualifying, this one is for the team. The strategy was on point, we have chosen to boost this weekend because we really want to take our first win this season. It was a tricky session with mixed conditions, but our timng was perfect. Damn this feels good!"

End. Gives away the team, but it was a TNR

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Also gives away that the other TNR retired, else it'd have been affected.

A good run that. Lets hope it converts nicely into strong points for the race. It seems Luke fell foul of the second car syndrome this time.

Couldn't find any abnormality's with pit garage 11. Did a test race with the -97 mod and both Minardi's made a smooth pitstop. What I did was renaming the dat file to S1CT06 and placed this in the Circuits folder in gp4's main directory. The wad file I renamed it to a1ring2001 and placed it in the main directory of gp4. In the game menu I selected track 6 to race on the right track. aybe that is the solution.

I couldn't quite get this working at my end, so....
I checked my TSM, and loaded last season's version of Österreichring : we got our race in, with no pit lane glitches. Different winner to my first attempt, but i think we can live with this one. Plenty of action, thrills, spills and carbon fibre spread all over the track. RD coverage will be started, and hope to have the first lot of action up within the next 24-48 hours.

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Interesting, the only thing that I changed between last season's version and this were failure rates. As long as it works and I win ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not a good result for us in the testers free practice. Qualifying turned out better at least with Warrington starting from 2nd, though for De Bruyker it means having to work his way through the field.

Regarding the pitstop issue, if the car involved is unable to leave the pitbay after taking the stop then I would say it was a result of a stall and therefore be a DNF.

Just an update of the RD Coverage for this round : A full re-run of the race was done, so as not to disadvantage the 1 driver stuck in pitlane. Part 1 of coverage will be posted later today Australian time, and then hopefully a Part 2 and 3 (if needed!) posted shortly after.....

Sorry for the delays - but, the bug in the initial RD attempt bothered me - didnt want to see someone not on track due to a glitch. And a fair bit going on in personal family life with a death in recent days, so.... go easy on me :)

GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
P12, looks like a tough race ahead for us and myself. Let's hope we end the race with happy faces.
The GPGSL welcomes you today, to what currently is a sunny day at the Österreichring circuit, for today's running of the Season 13, Austrian GP.
The rain we all endured in qualifying has gone, and we are in for a dry race. The wet weather is inbound though, but we should be packed up and gone before the wet weather returns in around an hours time.....

With this being just the 5th race of the season, it is not yet fully clear on who the real contenders for the WDC will be, but at this stage, John Warrington leads the title race by 15pts from perennial bridesmaid Tobias Kederer. But the surprise packet of the season so far, is Luke Russell, who has taken 2 wins out of 4 races, and sits just 5 pts off the title lead!

We now head trackside, for the action....

Charrel Jalving sits on pole, with John Warrington right behind him in 2nd...

3-wide into the first chicane....

Looks like everyone behaved respectfully, and everyone up front is cleanly through...

Yep, everyone made it through safely...

Bizarrely, both Greidanus and Sakata run wide and scrape the grass...

They both rejoined the black stuff with no damage, but dropped spots : Greidanus in 7th and Sakata down to 13th....

End of lap 1, and Jalving is challenging Pedersen for the lead...

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th stretched out along the back straight on Lap 2...

Jalving tucked up behind the rear wing of Pedersen...

Jalving puts his nose in front as the top 3 disappear behind the huge crane on the final bend...

But the run up the front straight sees Pedersen get a better run, re-taking the lead...

A dive bomb overtake from Hinz on Jalving into the chicane...

And that dive bomb fails. He spins, and is left facing the wrong way with the entire field heading his way... Too aggressive too early - time will tell...

Hinz recovers to rejoin the track with no damage, but his race badly compromised...

The midfield battle pack of Elleker, Vilela, Gilson and Silva...

We took our eyes off the front of the pack briefly, and out of nowhere, John Warrington has jumped into the lead...

The Tyrant driver in the lead, with top 10 movers and shakers on screen. Some big movers!

Positions 1-8

Positions 9-16

And positions 17-22

Our cameras pick up the smoke pouring from the rear of Joseph Gilson's SCR engine. Looks like a blown motor....

Day over for Gilson....

That huge crane down at the final turn, hoists the wounded SCR out of harms way....

Battles rage all over the field. Here we see Elleker in the Aston Martin Racing entry, trying to fend off Rodrigo Vilela in the DMR....

Warrington in the lead, with Pedersen right on his tail...

Pedersen looks racy today....

As does Jalving...

And Silva....

So does Greidanus...

And McClure...

Kederer too...

Vilela going hard....

Worseling on the rear of Vilela...

Silva close behind the SCR of Worseling ahead of him...

Defending series champ De Bruyker in the last point paying position at this stage...

Sakata in 13th...

Rodriguez in 14th....

Russell in 15th....

Buitenhuis in 16th....

Soutsen in 17th...

O'Neill in 18th...

Gustavo 19th...

Keranen in 20th...

Hinz brings up the rear of the field, sitting in 21st and last at this stage...

Back at the front, it is another change of position for the lead, with Pedersen going to the top again...

Jalving is trying to setup his move on Warrington...

Sitting in the slipstream....

And the run off the top of the crest of the hill...

And the dive to the inside at the final turn, the long sweeping right hander onto the front straight - we are seeing moves like this all through the field...

But the SCR tries to fight back as they go up the pit straight...

Scala in 4th has the best seat in the house to watch the duel ahead of him...

The top 6 in shot as they head up the back straight on Lap 9....

Kederer under attack from Vilela...

The Brazilian overtakes the German...

Sakata in 13th, close to the Tyrant ahead of him as the navigate the chicane...

2-wide through the chicane, as Hinz fights hard to climb up the order...

Vilela and Kederer still going at it, with Kederer having re-taken the advantage...

Whats this! Elleker outbraking himself into the chicane...

He is out of control, sliding through the grass....

Contact from the SCR and a front wing broken on Elleker....

Chaos at the exit of the chicane...

Elleker recovers with a flick spin, but his race is pretty much done, in last and needing to pit for a new front wing....

The chaos from Ellekers spin has mixed up the midfield....

And more craziness! De Bruyker is way off wide...

And the Tyrant driver has smashed off his front right wheel, and he is out of the race...

Elleker minus his front wing, heading to pit lane...

The AMR team swing into action as Elleker arrives...

Meanwhile, Pedersen has his foot to the floor, and has opened up a handy lead on 2nd place...

Scala in 3rd now, ahead of Jalving...

But that quickly changed, now the positions swapped...

Griedanus now in a fight with Scala, as we see yellow flags out - trouble back at the chicane....

We see Vilela in the grass...

Replays show Kederer and VIlela locked in a duel....

The DMR driver just runs out of grip...

No contact between the drivers, just a spin for Vilela...

And, at this point, we will head off for our first block of ads to help pay the bills....

Join us back here same channel, soon for our next installment of the action!

Thanks for not changing the channel, because... we are back to the racing.....

Pit stops just getting underway, and it is Sean O'Neill as first of the scheduled stops....

Business is booming in pitlane, with Jalving, Scala and Greidanus in the lane...

Vilela slides in front of team mate Jalving as the Dutchman is on his out lap...

Looks as if O'Neill is trying to take a dive down the inside of Hinz...

Hinz is on the grass...

He spins...

The angry German driver lights up the rears as he recovers...

O'Neill meanwhile, is in the grass heading to re-join the circuit...

Out front, Pedersen holds a healthy 3 second lead over the chasing Tyrant of John Warrington....

The timing monitors are lit up with cars either in pit lane, or due to hit pit lane for their mandatory stops...

Daly McClure up to 3rd ahead of the stops...

Scala now in 12th after his stop, with front runners beginning to pit as well...

Jalving rounding up the TNR of Keranen, as he charges ahead on fresh tires...

Jalving still alongside Keranen....

But the DMR clears the TNR as they head through the chicane...

Kederer into 3rd before his stop...

Trouble at the chicane, and some front wing pieces of a TNR in the foreground...

Buitenhuis was clearly involved, with his front right off and broken front right wing. He is out of the race....

Replays show Sakata and Buitenhuis make contact mid-chicane....

The TNR spears towards the embankment and barriers....

Vilela trails Soutsen through the chicane, as the wounded TNR of BUitenhuis and CVR of Sakata sit trackside...

Warrington in 2nd, some 3.4 seconds behind prior to their pit stops

Scala overtakes Keranen....

Race leader Pedersen 3.6seconds ahead of Warrinton, but the chasing pack of Jalving and Scala ready to re-join in battle once all pit stops are done...

Warrington, on his IN Lap, goes over the crest of the hill, with lapped car of Soutsent in close check behind him...

Bad news for Warrington, he has had Soutsen move ahead of him, no doubt costing him time ahead of pitting...

The race leader pits, for what will be a short stint to the end....

Warrington has also pitted....

Jalving looks as if he will take over the lead, with Pedersen and Warrington still in pit lane....

The DMR driver has benefited from his fresh rubber, and takes the lead, with Pedersen in 2nd, and Scala in 3rd just behind the MAC of Pedersen...

Trouble again at the chicane, with Greidanus, and one of the Tyrants...

Replay shows a carbon copy of what we have seen so many times before at this corner...

The Tyrant of freshly pitted John Warrington, is forced wide and onto the grass, where he spins...

Greidanus stays on track....

Then they meet again, and collide...

McClure safely passes by the chaos....

Nick Worseling is next to arrive into the chicane, and has a clear path....

Greidanus has lost that position to Worseling...

Warrington rejoins the circuit, just ahead of Rodriguez...

Warrington now leads the pack with Rodriguez, Silva and Russell...

That pack is hungry, and Rodriguez makes a move to overtake Warrington...

Getting crazy with this battle...

Russell is in the mix....

The battle still rages on into the next lap...

Looks like they tried to go 3-wide into the chicane - that was never going to work...

Silva and Warrington are stuck on the inside run off area....

Rodriguez ended up over on the opposite side of the track...

Replays showed the view from Russell's view. He gracefully dodged the mess, and overtook all three cars...

The three cars involved all recover, but it looks like another trip down pit lane for repairs for Warrington and Silva...

Meanwhile, out front it is Jalving with a 1.5 second lead over Pedersen...

Our tv cameras failed to spot the actual incident, but Michael Soutsen has found trouble, crashing into the barriers and snapping off his front left. Another driver forced to retire...

The lead has shrunk on this lap already, as we see another yellow flag at the chicane again...

Straight to the replays to find out what has gone on - the picture looks all too familiar...

Gustavo and Keranen tangle....

Keranen slides across the grass, and into Gustavo...

Luckily for the rest of the field, the two involved end up off the racing line...

Fill in team boss of TNR, Aiden Keranen done for the day, with no left rear wheel...

Christopher Hinz loses a spot to Vilela in the DMR...

Warrington made it back to the pits, but looks like the team forgot to put a new wing on....???!!!!

And again to the front, the lead continues to gradually shrink, with 9 laps to go...

We now take our final commercial break, when we return, we take you all the way to the end....

That's a real shame, so close to having a nice clean race and being rewarded for it
We're back for the final stages of the Austrian GP...

With a lot of crazy incidents in the first 20 laps, lets take a breath and catch up on the standings...
Positions 1-8

Positions 9-16

Positions 17-22

With the laps running down, Jalving's lead is growing smaller by the sector - having pitted earlier than others, are his tyres giving up on him....

Two Ecurie Mistral cars in the same pic, but that is Silva ahead of McClure on the road - but 1 lap behind....

Silva has caused McClure to lose ground, with Worseling now closing right up...

But we all know Silva is an experienced veteran, he lets Worseling go, trying desperately to keep out of the fight....

Charrel Jalving still leads, as we see the top 10 up/down movers - Worseling the big winner so far...

Elleker makes another stop, this time just for fuel - his day has been one to well and truly forget....

Team radio at Ecurie broken is it? What is Silva up too? Trying to overtake his team mate. Again....

Worseling has a run on McClure. Silva in tow behind McClure....

And Worseling has gone past McClure, with Silva's shennanigans not at all helping his team mate....

Also on the tail end of this battle now, is Tobi Kederer in the Alpha...

Pedersen now under 0.5 second behind. Seems only a matter of time for the Dane to take a crack at the lead again...

Somewhat forgotten back in 3rd, comfortably ahead of 4th, is Matteo Scala in the MTP....

Jalving under threat, going defensive heading towards the chicane...

Middle of the track for the two combatants....

Trouble!!!!!! Pedersen locks up....

He loses it, and spins....

Pedersen in the run off area, whilst Jalving re-joins from the grass. Has this incident now handed the win to Jalving...

Pedersen retains 2nd place....

But he now has Scala all over him...

Scala tries to use his momentum to get by the MAC...

But Pedersen slams the door, keeping 2nd spot...

Jalving's lead now out to nearly 5 seconds. The win, surely will be his now...

Positions 9-16

And the tail of the field, 17-22...

Silva clearly has pace, albeit 1 lap down on the lead....

Pedersen is again closing the gap, but still 4.5 seconds behind...

Silva attacking Kederer now! This won't go down well after the race...AND, look at the gap between 1st-2nd!!!.....

Silva really having a huge go at getting by Kederer...

And the German has been overtaken by the backmarker...

And now Silva is trying again to go by his team mate, who is running 4th!!! Absolute madness from Paulo Silva....

And from McClures view, we can see Silva is ahead, only just...

But it appears Silva rolled off the throttle to let the battle go...

Demon Racing's #5 Charrel Jalving leads with just 4 1/2 laps remaining...

Nick Worseling up to 4th in the Southern Cross enty....

And despite crazy battles with his lapped team mate, Daly McClure holds down 5th, with Kederer breathing down his neck....

And Kederer takes a look to the inside....

But the momentum off the last corner sees McClure hold position...

Pedersen in 2nd, can see Jalving tantalisingly close, just up the road. Has he got the speed and the fresher rubber to catch the Demon Dutchman...

A 2 second lead with handful of laps to go...

Uh-oh! Jalving has made a mistake, and run wide...

He hangs on to the lead though...

That relatively comfortable 2 second lead has gone though....

Just over half a second in it now. Game on!....

The Dane appears to have the speed and grip at this stage....

And up the back straight, the MAC Racing driver draws alongside Jalving...

And into the lead goes Pedersen....

Has Jalving got anything left to take the fight to Pedersen again....

With Warrington getting involved un-necessarily, this could be a problem as they head to the treacherous chicane....

Looks like there is nothing left from the DMR, with Pedersen pulling away now...

Positions 9-16 on display...

And the rear of the field...

And now Warrington goes to unlap himself and get back on the lead lap...

From Jalving's T-Cam, we can see the lead Pedersen has pulled out, with the distant dots ahead being the leader!....

The chicane navigated succesfully 1 last time by the race leader, as 2nd place Jalving rolls through as well...

Backmarkers being a bit cheeky today on track, with Warrington again getting into a duel with the race leader....

But, after a sensational 30 lap race, it is Michael Pedersen taking the win in Austria....

2nd place for Charrel Jalving after a great drive. Just appeared to run out of life in the rubber....

And completing the podium, Matteo Scala for MTP....

Worseling in 4th

Kederer in 5th...

McClure in 6th....

Russell in 7th, held off Greidanus in 8th....

Vilela finsishes 9th, with Sakata in 10th....

Hinz in 11th, after an adventourus day...

Gustavo in the final points spot, in 12th....

Rodriguez in 13th...

Elleker in 14th...

O'Neill in 15th...

Warrington in 16th....

And that concludes today's racing coverage.
Well done to Michael Pedersen and MAC Racing. A brilliant drive in the closing laps to have the speed to catch and pass the leader and claim the victory....
