Sure did.

You should probably raise an issue. SDI might notice it earlier:

I was thinking earlier. It's always nagged me that although I always set the RP about 5% lower than the QP I always seem to log much the same time for Q & R and it was one of those things I vowed to test one day.

Until today I was happy to assume it was the heady atmosphere of race conditions that inspired my dazzling race technique.

But no. Of course it was just a bug. [sigh]

@ParisHL
I did some test to find out how good game is at simulating the driving ability vs the engine power matter, and it handles this so incredibly good. For testing purposes I've run a qualify session (default game rules) at the Monaco (original 2001 with CC-line by Atticus) and Monza early 1970's (no chicanes, by Atticus as well) with the following perf file:
In short - all the top three drivers (Ferrari, Mclaren, Williams) are having the same worst (for this perf file) driving ability (15600) but the best bhp values (850), while worst (Arrows, Prost, Minardi) have the opposite values (16200) drivers grip value and 790 bhp. And here are the results:
Monaco (left).....and.....Monza (right):

It's just amazing how good this game at simulating little things like this. Frentzen got so high at Monza cos he's got lucky to ride behind the Barrichello's car throughout the circuit on his flying lap and even was able to pass him at the enter of parabolica (only to be re-passed by brasilian before the start/finish line, I believe), despite the huge lack of bhp. This is exactly how the famous 5-cars finish of 1971 happened with the cars being packed up at the drag race with the equal chances to win basically. This is really amazing, tbh. I honestly forgot how excellent this game is (Y)

Though you have to watch the qualy session at the real time or use the "accelerated time" option. The game uses it's own calculations during the accelerated time/skipping the session, and the track configuration doesnt affect it anyhow, so the accelerated/skipped results will be all the same for different track layouts (I)

edit - the accelerated results are fine. Thanks to SDI for correcting me on that

Are you sure about accelerated time? You are probably right for skipping the session, but accelerated time should simulate the game as normal but without rendering.

You are right, SDI. The time accelerating during a session leads to the plausible result, which is fairly amazing. And now I love this game even more, lol

Also, while you are here, could you explain what makes the driver to be consistent on the track? How to make the drivers to be less consistent without adding the high error chance value?
I thought higher "variance" would lead driver to produce less consistency, but as it can be noted here:
There is an inverse correlation, with the difference between the worst (highlighted blue on the screen in that post) and best (highlighted red) lap is respectively:
747 670 680 572
Also, what happens if the default 63,64 lines of the MD (valued 512 and 2048) called "AI random perf range Min/Max" would be changed? Could it produce more inconsistency to the drivers pace?

this is something that has always been a problem already with team editor, quali and raceperf. are swapped. Only editor that got it right was either gp4edit, or gp4performance editor, can´t remember which one it was (would say it was gp4edit beta ) , but it had them in right way.

Good point, but that bug only relates to the 'conventional' power setting:

[Team #00]
Name=McLaren,Cosworth
Performance=700,705,7900 - Team Editor swapped these.
First Driver=1 etc
Second Driver=2 etc

It's not the issue here.

The issue here is with the 'new' settings further down the PF which override that:

[QualifyPower]
Team #00=787,763
Team #01=etc

[RacePower]
Team #00=755,732
Team #01=etc

Team Editor doesn't interact with these values at all.

true.

@SDI QualifyPower bug affects the skipped sessions only as well. During the live/accelerated qualies it works as fine, as it should.

I have yet another problem with the tool. I can't find logs written in this format:
End lap 0: car 11, racepos 1, time -:--.---, PO 0/ 0%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 1: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:44.429, PO 49/117%, 0.8s slomo
End lap 2: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:37.865, PO 42/204%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 3: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:38.135, PO 41/ 86%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 4: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:37.880, PO 38/121%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 5: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:38.064, PO 36/ 71%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 6: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:38.067, PO 36/177%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 7: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:38.585, PO 39/ 74%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 8: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:39.031, PO 38/ 69%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 9: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:39.346, PO 37/ 64%, 0.0s slomo
End lap 10: car 11, racepos 2, time 1:39.223, PO 36/ 81%, 0.0s slomo
I remember well that it has always been somewhere at the logs folder. Now I have only the laps.log which is too complicated to use (I want to have the log from above to use for my excel calculations).

edit - Now I've found that it should be a "gpxlap.txt" file, but my one is filled with info related to autosave, not the laptimes :-/

Anyone to help me with the issue from above? It is likely that there is some line at the gpxlap.ini is missed. Anyway, this is what the gpxlap.log shows:
*** Starting log 03-09-2019 20:39:34
Hiding replay menu by default
Changing "race over" duration to 6 seconds
Disabling save/restore
Disabling autosave
Using directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\gpsaves\quicksaves' to store quicksaves
Logging lap data to file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\gpxpdata\log\laps.log'
Loading texture from file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\gpxpdata\gfx\quicksave.tga'
Pitstop bug will be fixed
Closing log
while I need it to show me the laptimes as it can be seen at my previous post :-/

In GPxPatch, under the GPxLap tab, you have text logging selected and a filename showing to write it into.

Is append to file checked as well? If it is not, try that.

Yes, I have those selected, and it uses a laps.log file, which gives a complicated info:

These values are too much for me (though I'd like to see them explained - I'm sure there should be some post/topic about that on these forums somewhere - so point me in), and at first look I couldnt even realize what about are all these numbers after the engine name. Maybe these are some values taken from MD file, but I'm not sure about it. Anyway, what I need can be seen here. This is a different log, placed in the same folder and it is named gpxlap.log

Btw - what is this about?

Had no luck finding info about this feature at the GPxPatch ChangeLog.

Unfortunately it's not something I've looked into. Apart from the results, in a spreadsheet, I don't log anything unless something breaks.

Btw, what's the actual formula for "driving errors"? I was running some tests at old Kyalami circuit, and with errors set to 1 at the track's MD the guys with the 16384 error value at the perfs are indeed the only ones who seem to have troubles (like at least 2 errors per lap constantly, while everyone else had like none). But with the errors set to 16384 at the tracks MD file all the drivers seem to have difficulties, no matter how low their error value at the perf files are. Here's a video of the latter test:
[youtu.be]
All of these guys had 1 driving errors at the perfs, so the perf values are not overwriting the track MD values completely.
Btw, it seems curious that the mayhem starts since the lap 2. The AI cars seem to do fine with going through that corner at the first lap of the race.

The GPxLap documentation explains those numbers in the log. The ones behind the engine name are setup values. The log screen can be activated by pressing '2' in-game. It's also explained in the GPxPatch docs.

Hello, :) im having a lot of fun with your program. The new updates are the reason why i started playing and editing the game again. I am having some difficulties understanding how i can add Bpmax and min to my performance sheet. Could you help me? Also i didnt understand how to make the cars go back to the track quicker. Thanks a lot for the attention and for the great work.

GP4 loads my MOD very well but always crashed to the desktop when I exit the game. Please have a look at the log below, don't know if the problem is related to the Tv style or steering wheel or both. Any help is most welcome.
