@ René.

I was going to raise this as an issue but I thought I'd run it by you in this thread first.

I'd like to be able to change the default damage model to make the cars more fragile. As I understand it (which might not be very well) there are two options:

1. Use GP4 Tweak - but this is imprecise, ie 40%, 30% etc.
2. Use CSM to load xxxxdamage.ini - this is more precise, but AFAIK this is only of use to those who use CSM to launch games, but apparently many users don't start GP4 that way and I can't because CSM doesn't work in Linux.

So, if there's not already another way to use a xxxxdamage.ini file that I don't know about, is there any chance that GPxPatch might incorporate support for that one day? It would be great if there was a convenient way to eliminate this little weakness in GP4.

If you'd like me to raise an issue or start a new thread here on the forum let me know and I will. Thanks again.

something like the damage editor for gp3 would be great. There you can edit every single part of the car

Yes, please create an issue, if possible with an example xxxxdamage.ini file.

Point 2. I make you an example:

Australian GP, Clark curve. Many times AI make mistakes in this curve.
But unfortunately, AI stops at the side of the track waiting all cars to pass instead to move parallel to the track and return on it!

It's very annoying..

It's beyond my power to fix that I'm afraid.

René, I have one question:

Yesterday, I was playing, i went to the pits and i got the pit bug(it happens sometime). I saved the game and restart the gpxpatch with Fix pitstop bug toggled on, it worked nice.

Now my question: Is it possible to assign a key to toggle "Fix pitstop bug" in-game? Or wouldnt help?

Why don't you just keep it turned on?

What happens if you don't turn it off?

Edit: I just read in my own docs that you can drive away earlier. If you want you can create an issue for this here.

René, I met only in the race. At practise or qualify this fine

I dont know if is only by me: But when my car is stuck in the pitbox in the race, I save the game, exit it, toggle the "Fix pitstop bug" from on to off or vice-versa. Start the game, load it and then car leaves the pit.:)
This is my experience. I mean in the race only

Rene, could you please try to add a "pause"-button and a "cancel"-button during the loading screen? That would be very useful sometimes. For example, just a few minutes ago I wanted to drive a 53 lap full race in Monza. When the start order was shown I realized that there are only 50 laps and not 53 because it's still Reims in slot 15 from a race yesterday and not Monza. (I wasn't driving a qualifying before the race.) So I wanted to cancel the race at that point, but there is no way and I had to wait nearly three minutes for the stupid loading screen to get loaded my 1.1 GB cars.wad. hot :-( In former times it was possible to end GP4 with the task manager, but for some reason that doesn't work anymore. So please, can you have a look if that's possible Rene? Thank you very much again! ;) (Y)

It's already there, but it will quit GP4 (which seems to be good enough for you): try to press Ctrl+Alt+End, and if that doesn't work Ctrl+Shift+Alt+End.

The individual cc errors is a game changer I think. Even if you just decide a low medium and high for each driver it brings a real difference in races and then changing between races brings personality to a season

If one doesn't want the race standings window or the track map image to appear in the upper left corner, how are those turned off?

@ AustinF1 - Press 8 to toggle the map, 0 to remove the standings (9 to bring them back)

@ RHill - Absolutely a game changer. Try the BRMax value as well. My tests so far suggest that while CC errors will always lead to mistakes and a failure to do well; BRMax, which also leads to mistakes, can also work out well for the driver sometimes too, if that makes sense so it's a slightly more exciting 'personality' trait. Well worth experimenting with. A value of around 3000 seems to have a good impact without looking unreal.

@ SDI - The xxxdamage.ini files are used by CSM

I agree. If you use 3000 for your max value, what is your min value?

Right now I don't really use BRMin. I had one or two quick goes with it but at, say, 3000 it seemed to make the modded car too prone to being rear-ended so I gave one driver a BRMin value of 500 and let it be. I'm not sure it makes any discernible difference at that level though. Have a play with it yourself.

It makes sense because a higher value means the minimum braking point is sooner and therefore they brake really early and get rear ended. It’s a range essentially before and after the normal brake point.

I think min is more about creating a consistent point where cars won’t brake before.

So you’ve noticed a difference in behaviour with max?
