Misano track, over unfinished Prblanco track

Not having the opportunity to write in the thread of Dijon, I just want to thank Pedro, Gezere and Hega for their generous contributions.

The track is no longer available for download.

I will not argue. We are going to turn the page and continue. In the future I do not think I will share any of my meager jobs again.
That the girls do not get nervous, it's just GP4.

In the case of the Misano track, DAT by Prblanco, it will only be by PM.

See you later!

" In the future I do not think I will share any of my meager jobs again"

you underestimate your work.. if i started out at the same quality of work you have i would have been very happy.

this permissions thing has gotten stupid

flat out.....if you want to release something or edit somthing of someone else's ....list the original author in the release post & read me file.

people can then judge if your work is good or not & this won't reflect on the original authors work.

this thing about contacting somebody for permission isn't what i agreed to when i asked to add my name to that list...

this is an old game with a few die hard fans still willing to make/convert/update stuff for it...

car makers......do you have permission from the manufacturer to reproduce their shape & product ? NO

logos/adds ? permissions ? NO

track makers same questions.......no.......

so i say as a person that has spent way to many hours in the past creating tracks and converting tracks......

Stop this permissions madness........clearly state in the release post the original author of the work.......and in the read me file with release.

100% Agree I'm afraid and both jimbob1 and Meteoro405 are members with immense talent. I agree simply for the reasons jimbob has stated. It is an old game kept alive by people like Meteoro405 . Most of the original modders have moved on which means its very difficult to contact them. As long as yo credit them in the read me it should be allowed.
Something needs to be proposed because we want to encourage people in the community not discourage them. I understand that an authors work is important but speak to most of the authors that you can contact and they would give yo permission anyway.

..... well maybe its not worth much but that's my two cents.:-)

You should always credit the creator, but as long as this has been done it should be enough, is not like you are getting any money using someone's else work, it is just a modding, gp4 is dying, and when someone tries to keep it alive this happens.

I suspect a lot of it has to do with traffic, money earned on a website with click-throughs and porn ads etc. being displayed on a website. If a download is suddenly made available on another site, regardless of whether or not it has been changed in some form, the original hosting site loses some traffic so earnings for that click-through go down. I doubt it has anything at all to do with whether or not a credit is given in a readme file, it's more about money and the traffic stats which can be monitored if a file is only hosted on one site.
One would think that if a file is improved on, such as better graphics, more features etc. the original creator/s would, or should be grateful for the work done, which in turn can only increase the overall exposure of the file, which means more downloads of said file. However, if the file is being downloaded from elsewhere and no longer from the original hosting site it represents a loss in traffic. The solution here is for the original site to also host the modified file with its updated readme, therefore providing a choice for users to either download the file in its original or modified form.
This sort of ridiculous argument over credit etc. is in my opinion more about the money earned from a website and having control over its overall traffic than anything else. The end result is that modders become disillusioned with the situation and pull the plug on doing any more work, which they do for free and the community in general loses.

This is too unfortunate - looks like a great track for GP4. Perhaps someone could finish and offer it?

All my support my friend. Sometimes simple things like creating and sharing items for a game can bring a lot of trouble. As long as there is satisfaction continue, we thank you. Congratulations on the beautiful work you have done for years. A big hug and I hope your next job :))

Thanks friends for all yours words.

Davide!! great news! Misano made by you will be another piece of art!

My little progress...

Go ahead I will continue with another track (you know that in my mental disorder I have more started tracks than I can finish). I have some 3D objects for Misano that may be useful.

We are talking!

As METEORO405 said: we are all old! GP4 is our hobby.

That forum is like an asylum (kkkkk) if we do not share the supplies our life will be short!

All involved are beasts, incredible works ......... we will bureaucratize.

Not this again,,,

First of all, fantastic work Meteoro! You have great talent for this so please keep up the work!

Second, we should all help to contribute to the community. Nowdays, we are a dying breed and every update to GP4 should be welcome to all.
We don't need people to stop others work just because someone has made the basework. As long as we give credit to the base author were
credit is due, there should be no problem. The policy agreement we made some years ago have helped alot, but as mentioned above, if it comes to
arguments like this, what's the point of having the policy at all? Not just a shame for you in this case Meteoro, it's a shame for the whole community.
You don't get to share your fantastic work, and we don't get the chance to try it out. If this continues, GP4 will die sooner than none of us would like.

Please, members and modders of the small community that is left. Help each other instead, help us keep this game alive!
