I'm going live with GP4Builder (Track Building Tutorial)

Hi everyone, long time no see and all that stuff.

Some time (years?) ago I planned to do a series on video tutorials on how to use GP4Builder, aka THE TOOL for track modding in GP4.

I eventually gave up on that after I realized how much work out would be to produce anything more or less professional looking, or at least at the quality I wanted.

Recently I decided to revisit the idea in a much simpler way: a live capture from my desktop, and myself talking through the stuff I do, while following the script I originally planned for the tutorials (apologies in advance for any bad accent).

It will probably be something weekly, and if anyone has any suggestion on a time slot I'll see if I can fit that in my schedule.

Finally, I'm not currently working on anything else, GP4-related. My WIP files are free for anyone to download, just follow the link in my signature.

Cheers!

Yes please, but I'd prefer a how-to video to study and work along with. I find GP4Builder quite confusing and I don't think I'd get it in one go.

Excellent idea!

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

Hi Paulo!

Welcome back... Sad that you left the GP4 scene but not completely! Your idea to share your knowledges and experience is just a great gift for anyone who want to become a track builder or to improve their skills.
Thanks for your generosity! :-)(Y)(B)

i drop in on the gp4 scene from time to time & was very happy to see your post Paulo.
i was very interested in seeing more tutorials made so the information would be shared and not lost if or when some one left the gp4 world.

myself the track building was always the number one interest.
i'd like to see a few good quality videos made for the new comers to build their first track

so dat file.......from start to finish...

i was always weak on banking...so a good section on that would be ace.....i keep wanting to make an oval for gp4 that i can race on.....but i'd want to follow a pre built 3ds file..so getting the dat file
to follow that closely is head scratching to me tbh.....

My Friend Great Idea!

a track from beginning to end would be the maximum for those who, like me, want to create clues. I look forward to your new material :)

Uma sugestão: Nos videos, fala em Português também, se possível. Eu utilizo muito os poucos tutoriais que você fez na F1 Virtual, obrigado.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys :)

I plan to start the streams next weekend. The first video will cover some very basic stuff, as I intend to also guide those who never opened a .wad before - so not building a track from scratch just yet. Will get there in the third or fourth video I hope ;-)

@Excalibur - I don't think I'll ever leave GP4 for good, I keep coming back in random ways

@livejackass - Acho que seria muito confuso fazer um vídeo bilíngue, mas pretendo colocar legendas em português depois.

What a great idea!!
I really hope it will motivate new guys to make new tracks or to complete your unfinished tracks you shared with us in April 2017.
I am a big fan of your DATs which are always a guarantee of quality in term of accurate length, elevation, etc....
As the graphical part of a track is first based on the DAT file, that's the perfect start.
Thank you.(Y)
