Many thanks. I've seen a video of this mod on Youtube. What can I do, please, for having the panel/pitboard seen on the left of the picture below ? It's really nice. And is it possible having the number of each car without loading the performances file ? Thank you.

The tower standings are only showed with the first and last 3 laps of a race.

Thank you Turbo Lover, for this moment I just ran one or two laps for testing. Now I'm gonna run a full race.

Hello!

First of all, I was quite impressed when I saw that this game has still got a huge support and community behind it making mods and tracks to it. Thank you for your support.

I was pretty happy to find that there are new mods to it as well (2018). However, soon I discovered a problem. My main issue is that I have an older computer/laptop (celeron duo, 2gb ram, nvidia 8200m). When I'm playing with standard cars even on new tracks, there is no problem at all. The game runs relatively smoothly. When I switch to the 2018 mod, the game is lagging to the point where it's unusable. There is a situation where I can lap without lagging in the 2018 mod, when I'm doing free practice or when I'm alone on the track (nobody in front or behind). Switched to standard resolution textures on the csm menu but it didn't help. In the game I put everything to low or off, but it didn't help either.

Since this is an old game, much older than my laptop, i was hoping that I could play with it using new car models. Seems like it's not the case.... I'm hoping there is somebody who could help me with this issue. There has to be a solution, I'm hoping because with standard cars the game runs well. Maybe using a different mod would help? Or can I do something with textures?

Thank you for your help.

The original cars.wad has about 35 MB in size I think, the one this mod compiles tops 1GB with hires textures. Even with std res it still has a few 100. Due to that you can't say it should run well because it's an old game. The load caused by more detailed cars and textures is high. Even on my decent PC I run into the same issues as you once the wad gets close to 1GB.

I can't recall if I included low lods as option, if I did enable them. Also it should help if you further reduce the texture size. Probably will have to bring the cars.wad down to 200-300MB. You can check that in the wadcache folder of the mod. Reduce textures, load the mod, quit it straight away, and check the folder.

Thanks, I reduced the textures using Slimtex on all teams. Performance improved massively, however the textures now got zig-zaggy, it doesn't fit properly on the car. Still trying to figure it out...
Wad file reduced to your estimates.

Yes, sure. Thanks for the feedback.

On the sidenote: I discovered that my engine sound is very low. I turned everything to zero apart from my own engine sound which is at 100, but still the issue remains. I can barely hear it while other noises (other cars and effects) don't change.

Looks like the textures need to be flipped.

Yeah looks like flipped textures. When converting, select the batch to tex tab, drag & drop the textures, and just set the new width and heigth. I ran into troubles before when using the 1/2 (1/4 ...) options, so might be best to stick to those that set an actual value.

No clue about the engine sounds. Seemed pretty normal when I last fired up the mod, have to check if there's something in the gpxsound options maybe that can help.

Track records / Circuit records for 2018 F1 season

You can have the new circuit records been displayed in the workshop/track records resp. ingame circuit records display.
For each track copy the four lap record lines from the following text into the tracks ini file (e.g. settings.ini) of the 2018 season.
In the mods GPxPatch/GPxTrack check the [Catch records] option.

Haha that's my video! Press E so it will show up all the time, but the standing ticker below will stop to change. You can also have 22 drivers shown on the graphics as well. Go to gpxsat and insert "RaceTowerLeftCars =22" below Digital2010.

Hi folks, old timer gp4 player here, not played this for a few years, not a fan of the Codemasters games, so quick question, I just download the 3 files n I’m ready to go right? Do I need any other programs or downloads? Do I need to install them into a specific folder? Any help or info gladly received. Thank you

You'll need GP4, the official patch, no-CD exe, gpxpatch, and ZazTools. Then install the mod via CSM (part of ZazTools).

GP4Central had a pre-patched version (all things except Zaz), no sure if it's still up.
