2018 Mod :: v1.0 [released]

Ok, sounds like it'll be the tracks as I only have the original tracks installed. How do I install the correct tracks for 2018 and make sure they're in the correct order etc? Thanks

No, it's not the tracks, I never said that. I said that I've got no idea what's causing it, and since I can't reproduce it on my PC I've got a hard time figuring it out.

Think I found the issue. Did those of you that had the white tyre problem change the track ingame, i.e. CSM menu has selected Melbourne, but once ingame you changed to another track?

no, not for me. I always closed the game and selected another track in csm and then start the game again, but the white tyres were always there

The problem of the white tyre is in the performance files for each track. You need to change the choice of tyre in the performance file of the track if you see white tyre.

Not exactly. The problem is that I put only 3 compounds in the cars.wad, depending on the selected track in the CSM menu, since I didn't want the wad to get too big (Hi res textures for 3 = 100MB; Hi res textures for all =235MB). However I didn't consider that by selecting another track ingame, it'll use a different performance file. If that one has different compounds than the one for the track selected in the CSM menu, it's simply missing the respective tyre textures.

For me I selected melbourne trzck in the csm menu and with this track the tyre was ok. In the gp4 menu when I changed to montréal track the tyre was white. So I changed the tyre value in the montreal performance file by the value of the tyre in the melbourne performance file and then the tyre was ok in the Montreal track.

An other question is how to force the mod to play with the lower lods?

That's no proper solution though, you just mess up a correct perf file. I either have to put all tyre textures in the wad, or simply lock in the load 1 track choice.

The mod has no low lods.

Think I now also figured out why the helmet shapes cause the crashes and long loading times. They don't have a driverX_2 texture assigned, apparently that's essential. I tried renaming the glass texture to driver1_2, once done loading times were to normal and no more crashing.

v0.8.1 released in the first post

Changelog:
- cockpit with halo, huge thanks to gezere for that one!
- white tyres fixed. Mod now puts all tread textures in the wad. Downside, wadsize grew by ~150MB.
- crashes on closing and slow loading times fixed. Added a small face with the driver1_2 texture assigned to it to all helmet shapes, thanks to jvinu2000 for granting permission!

Important:
Delete the previous version before installing. Make sure to backup any files you added to the mod!
