processor occupancy over 900 !!

GP 4 is stuttering....when i try to drive the PO is over 800 / 900 and completely undriveable.
I have installed the latest driver of my GEFORCE GTX 970 and i can play all the newest games without any problems at all.
I only have this problem when playing GP4??

Is there any overclocking?

Not that i'm aware of....how do i know that?

cheack the filesize of your cars.wad. There's a limit of something around 1 GB, if you are above it GP4 stutters a lot

The size of my cars .wad file is 904.540 KB at this moment...is that too much ?? I only added some cars , not even new tracks.

Sometimes PO is over 3000 !! Impossible to play....has it really something to do with the cars.wad file?

Do you use gpxpatch? If yes, open gpxpatch.ini in gpxpdata folder and try these settings:

[Debug]
Debug=1
Verbose=0
LogAssertions=0 (or 1 in alternative)
CPU=1

If it does not work or do not use gpxpatch, try this: f1graphics.cfg
It's my GP4 graphics configuration file, just copy in your GP4 main folder.
if you do not solve the problem, come back here and tell me your PC configuration!

might be just too much, for me the po shoots up starting around 900MB

I'm not using any mods...i have downloaded all the beautiful cars available here and created my own game.
I tried the below and used the other configuration but without success

I have never heard of this Patch?

You might delete (make a backup) all f1graphics.xxx files
then start the game and it will recognize your hardware (and hopefully apply correct settings).

If no improvement, be sure to disable anti-aliasing in your graphical card settings.

The advice I can give you, since you want to use mixed cars is to use CSM:

First of all read this: [www.grandprixgames.org]
Once you have installed Zaz Tools by following the instructions, open CSM, go to "Extra stuff" and build a CSM set with your GP4 main directory, in this way you will create a carset with your files;
at that point make a clean installation of GP4, making sure to keep the GPSAVES\Carsets folder;
Finally insert this file in GPSAVES\Carsets\"your carset folder"\Data\Patch folder: [www.mediafire.com]

I push you to do all this because, putting you the cars manually and being these I think very heavy, I think the game easily goes haywire ...
Following my advice, you can easily change the GP4 files without problems, or at least I hope so ...

There is advice, shrink you cars.wad. I have observed this multiple times, deleting unnecessary textures etc from the cars.wad to cut down its size always did the trick. GP4 runs perfectly fine on a system like yours with fully maxed out settings, I really doubt that this is a related to some kind of a graphics setting or similar or using CSM or not. Keep in mind that this software is more than 15 years old, you just can't throw GBs worth of graphics at it. Open the cars.wad, check the contents carefully and delete everything that is not needed, e.g. leftovers from last season.

I did but cars.wad file is still 890 mb....i disables anti-aliasing in my graphical card settings as well but no improvement at all.
When i try to calibrate my graphics settings in gp4 it's soooo.. slow and po still is over 1400.
How big is your cars wad file? I have installed all the new cars available for this season.

Resize textures then, some of the new ones are massive in file size.

I tried with slimtex but i get following mssg when i try to resize the textures from 4096 into 2048

Grand Prix 4 and other editing tools MUST BE INSTALLED in a folder in the root of main drive. Do not forget to become a folder owner and give write permissions (as an administrator).
