GP4 menu font

Some time ago I found a GP4 MOD that had a font menu different from the original. The file is found in the folder MenuData / PC / GP2001/Fonts and has the extension "gpf". Does anyone know with which software these files are opened and how can they change the font of the menus? Thank you.

I’ve tried that time ago, but didn’t get any effect on the game menus... Didn’t know how to come arround, so decided to drop that, but I think it’s a nice initiative, specially nowadays when Liberty has changed the F1 font

My intention was just to insert the new F1 font. Have you seen the image on mediafire?

As I said, it's not mine. I found it in an old MOD.

Well, then I put the R and say it’s a great initiative, hope you can succeed...

Many thanks. It is something that should be studied anyway.

As I said before, it's not my job. I do not want to take merit that I do not have and I can not thank those who did it because I do not remember who it is, but I think it should be shared with everyone. I think the author would have done the same.

The files must be inserted in:

MenuData/PC/GP2001/Fonts

I think one also changes the image of the initial menu.

I remember I added a wip font feature in GpiBrowser
You will have to check though if you can both export and import the image from and to .gpf because my memory is kinda rusty

Well Laurent, looking by GPIBrowser, it appears that the guys on GP4ever did the job... But, how can that job could be done again using new F1 fonts?
Is that so like saving on .tga files?

I'm very pleased Paulo and thanks Laurent. I'll take a look with GPIBrowser.

Dear Laurent, I found this:

Description

GPI Browser is born in december 2002 when Jon Walton and me decided to find GP4 menu images. We finally found them and Jon was able to afford a first editing possibility through Carset Creator but I never managed how to export/import tga files to replace the files and GPI Browser left aside.
Thanks to better knowledge and to other works around file formats, I discovered I was finally able to complete that tool and here it is.

Features
- Display all GP4 menu images (.gpi files), RGB (image) or Alpha channel (transparency mask)
- New : Display all menu fonts
- Save 1/all images to .tga files
- Replace any image with a .tga file (32 bits, non RLE encoded)
- Change Thumbnail size from 40 to 600 pixels
- New : Full size preview

v1.2 bug fixes
- Corrupted .tga loading with non square pictures
- Tga filters were not working in save/load dialogs
- Change GP4 path to show actual GP4 path if existing[/b][/color]

It's just as you say. Now I try!

I tried to rework the .tga file with the new font, following the same composition as the old one. A mess has come out! When I load the .tga, only lines are seen. It seemed easy, but it is not.

I did this earlier in the year. Some letters are very wide like 'O' and 'M' and need adjustments.

@mralpha you need to save the image in tga 256x256 and grayscale mode without RLE compression. That's how it works.(Y)

Nooooo! Great! You're great! I had guessed that the file was as you say. I was working on it until recently. It did not work with my new TGA. In practice, to not waste time, I resumed the converted file with GPIBrowser and was rewriting over the font with Photoshop. Overwriting letter by letter. It worked, but as you say, the position has to be adjusted. In fact the letters were one on the other. To do this I also reduced the size. Your result, until now, looks great. I will continue with this work, but you are far ahead. If you finish first and you want to share this work, I think you'll all be grateful.
One thing for another, because I can not post the images, but I have to resort to Mediafire?
