I might be able to prepare the check on Sunday or Monday but getting everything done by next Friday seems a bit too ambitious to me

Guys, would I be wrong to assume most (if not all) of you lot are on facebook? In the future I imagine a transfer of the league to a social media platform might actually revitalise activities.

Just a thought. I know the nostalgic use of the board has always been this way but to keep things alive it might help reduce the inactivity.

+1 Ruben

A social media board is not the solution for actually revitalise activities .

I think there are several members of this forum that don´t have a Facebook account.

Just keep it the way it is...

While I still have a facebook account, I haven't really used it in years

The main issue causing inactivity imo is the long gap between races we have, and that you don't really have many new users coming who can replace the inactive ones. GP4OC is run via youtube/twitter/discord, they seem to have enough drivers to fill 4 series, with 1 race/week for each of those 4.

I have to say that I am also absolutely against this. I don't have a facebook account anymore and I don't really wanna have to start one up again.

Yeah ... no! Don't remember either when I last checked my account. Plus, my students regularly confirm to me that Facebook is completely out nowadays! ;)

Of course you're welcome to use the existing FB group or open a new one and offer extra information/entertainment there as a voluntary service, but I don't see the core of the series moving away from the forum any time soon.

However, what I do notice regularly is people moving away from the forum because of newer games. The forum is massively focused on GP3 and GP4 - I mean look at the last posting dates in the other forum areas.
I do think that the GPGSL can have a GP4-based future as an AI series, because there is no newer racing game I could think of that is so AI-race friendly. However, in order to get new interested people here as a start, it might be a good idea to try and establish the forum as a center for other games, too.
E.g. a PCars 2 or Codies F1 setups section or a racing games review area linked with some code-work for a better Google Search placement could already do wonders.
And secondly, the series could be a lot better advertised in the forum. It is the official racing league of the board, after all, so people should be made aware of it with a banner or a notification at the top of the website.

I fear with just relying on GP3/4 players, both the series and the website will die sooner or later.

Agree with you John. Both the GP4OC and the (now defunct) RD series show that you can still attract new players to an AI only series, for which GP4 probably still is the best game. However you don't get that new audience here anymore, since people in general play the newer games (i.e. AC(C), rF2, R3E, AMS, PC2 etc.), so they're highly unlikely to a) come across this forum and b) stick around.

Establishing this site as center for another game(s) sounds good, but it'll be a hard piece of work. The design of the whole site could do with an overhaul in that case, and you'd also have to offer something to get people to come here rather than other already established forums. A merger with another forum might also be a possibility.

Speaking of the site's codework in general, I haven't properly seen the gpg banner on the top ever since I upgraded to a widescreen monitor many moons ago [i.imgur.com], and the youtube embedding is broken for how many years now?

A Codies F1 League wouldn't be too hard to setup. I used to race in one a while back.
